Has anyone tried this panel out for FPS games or anything of the sort?
The HM is the one you want for gaming.
What if he/she doesn't like the HM's cross-hatching (or else) and he/she is looking for a better display?
(at least that's the only reason why I'm avoiding the U2713HM even if it is targeted for average users/gaming (like me) and looking the U2713H (cross-hatching free) instead)
If I put my eyeball literally half an inch from the screen, turn both brightness and contrast to 100, and then turn sharpness to 100 (you shouldn't do this) then I can maybe see it. And then I move 2 inches away and it's gone.
One of the benefits of the GB-r LED on this one, is that different shades of blue are handled much better than W-LED screens, W-LED screens fail miserably in showing accurate blue shades even after calibration. Right now I'm using it at native gamut with an icc profile created with my i1DPro, this gives me the advantage of using all the features like unif. compensation, and if accurate colors are needed , you can always switch to a color managed firefox window (the photo apps are already profile aware). I personally like the wide gamut effect on games.
Oh good lord. Cross hatching. I don't know where this became a thing but its ridiculous. Crosshatching has become the ultimate hyperbole in which it is suggested that you'll see some type of crisscross pattern in clearly black lines from across a room on a 2713HM. Biggest mountain out of a molehole nonsense i've ever heard. It is not anything noticeable, wait I take that back. Got a three year advanced replacement warranty with mine. No glaring faults or defects to complain about except for some slight hunming. Will use the warranty down the road once they're a few revisions out.
Use of gaming mode for gaming. I noticed that it 'feels' like the input lag is greatly reduced when switching to gaming mode, also notice almost no ghosting at all in this mode. This mode is interesting because its the only mode that completely blacks out the screen when switching to it as if its changing more than just color settings to initiate the mode, probably overdrive as I don't see anywhere else to enable it. I know TFTCentral stated the input lag isn't reduced in game mode but it sure as heck feels like the mouse is more responsive when in this mode. I use the dell display manager to automatically set the display to game.
A questiona for fellow owners who use dell display manager. Have you figured out how to keep the monitor from switching to 'Standard' when the taskbar is selected? Maybe there is a hack to change the default color display mode to another mode in an INI or something. I tried adding explorer.exe but that doesnt seem to work for the taskbar and i was unable to add the desktop windows manager to the app list.
TFT Central has updates to their review (but I can't figure out what's been updated. The article looks exactly the same)

They've marked their updates with the word "update".
If there is any buzzing sound the sound of my fan on my computer and or light bulbs are far louder than the buzzing as I have never heard it.

Lol yeah a bit of a giveawayrefresh the page as they should show at the top in the links and then marked in the text too
Hi everyone,
I just received the U2713H (Rev 01) yesterday and noticed that when powering down my computer some colored lines appear for a split second (a quick flash) on the display. It happens just as the PC power 'clicks' off and control is lost to the display, so you have to look carefully...maybe do it more than once.
Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this or can verify this?
I may be worried about nothing, but I've never seen this on my U2711 or any other monitor I've had. I am using Displayport to a GTX 580.
Thanks!![]()
