I had mentioned it recently in another thread but I well understand we can't read every post and every thread. Anyway, I was only trying to be helpful.

nah its cool.. i was just screwing around with that line.. randomly popped into my head when i read your post.. figured it was perfect time to say it..

eh.. i tried winsmp a while back.. it failed.. tried notfred.. it failed.. maybe ill give it a third try in another 6 months.. i dunno.. its just to much work to babysit the vm clients.. rather have something i can leave and forget like the gpu clients..

My disk image with VMWare Server is 99% stable with the beta client.
I'm running a stripped down CentOS64 inside it.
Client installed as a service with Finstall.
I've 10x copies running.
I only have to restart the odd one due to hangs, etc.

Mine you it took me ages to make the disk image that worked .......... :(

Luck ............ :D

Friggin' 1250 ppd for that big WU. I took one of my VMs offline when it finished to see if the ppd would go up a bit
That's the largest WU currently being sent by Stanford. They are rare for the most part, and usually the WUs I get are A2 core units, but this can change any time and Stanford could switch to back mostly A1 units like the P2653, P2665, P5101, P5102, etc. The A1 units are much lower in PPD than the A2s.

Your running 10 Clients on your Skulltrail box?
are you not having timeshift issues?

I think he's only 4 on the SkullTrail and the remaining 6 are on other boxes.

is the CC still going? or is it done? I think its safe to say we are not the greatest horde anymore, but I bet once the other teams mellow out, our true strength (the low end) will pay off and we will remain in the #1 for years to come.

Just checked the stats and the CC is still going. By the way things look it won't be more than a day before there's a winner. Sure were a lot of points put up for the cure by all teams.

Do whaaaat........ What youse' mean we ain't the greatest [H]orde anymore. I think what you're sayin' is we haven't won every battle (Chimp Challenge) We's ALWAYS gonna' be the mighty [H]orde and ATM we are closer to winning the war against those dreaded diseases by being in the #1 position in folding for the entire Universe :D

I'm some kinda' proud of being a part of what, IMHO, is a true benefit to mankind. I want to say "thanks" and you're the "greatest" to anyone DCing no matter what team they're on and no matter if they participated in the Chimp Challenge or not. I really don't think it'll matter to the peeps that may be cured by DCers helping medical science find that cure. I don't think it'll matter to them what team the DCers on, whether they participated in the Chimp Challenge or how many pernts said DCer has.

Please fellow DCers "keep on. a' keepin' on"

o im all for the horde, im just saying were starting to show our age. I know im trying to up my out as much as i can to help 33 stay awesome, i just keep hitting alot of roadblocks ( 2 fried PSU's and a cooked card :( ) and what not.
I'm gonna get a new PSU so I can run all 3 computers at the same time, and borg out what I can to try and tip the scales above 30k PPD, but im just saying we need to get some of our power players back form the grave

Might even look into building a new SMP monster box next month or so, but that will have to wait for additional funding, house takes first priority

I just hope the CC helped bring in some new blood to keep our production up. I know it finally got me to install SMP clients.

It did last year but our participation may have been higher than this time around. It's hard to get some real numbers on new member participation when the forum is so slow. Maybe when the economy picks up we'll have better output. This year could be a roller coaster ride for the team, unfortunately.

You've gotta hand the CC to those OCNchimps this time around. 20 Million points in just seven days! Thats some incredible output for a great cause...

I guess after today we can all get back to adding to our own accounts for a while. ;)

Yeah, OCNchimps is simply amazing  20 Million pernts in seven days is unfreakin'believable. Way to fold OCNchimps, youse' are a credit to humanity and the DCing world. :D

Congrats to the OCN chimps! Meanwhile, that 3340 point job I have is still running at an amazing rate of 1220 ppd. It might be done in another day. The other 2 VMs I have are running 1920 pointers at 2800 ppd for comparison. Looks like its time to switch back my old self.

damn, if we had those kind of bribes on our front page we'd mow default! Thats some serious sponsoring there, I dont recall ever seeing a forum comp. like that before.

Well, lets hope most of the other teams all go dormant or whatnot, or we get some highly motivated people ourselves, this could spell bad news for the horde

No handing. They straight up took it. Pretty disappointed that they're going to win and we're barely 1/3 of the way there.

Of course, a little motivation always helps.

THANKS on Behalf of the OCN community! Your team is a credit to the World and we hope to one day push you to higher highs (As is our goal), I'm sure when we get there your site will rally to the Horde of old and we may go scurrying for cover!

fun while it lasted but im folding for myself and team 33 now.

We still haven't crossed the finish line. If everyone pulls off now, we'll finish last.

LOL, at least it's incentive for an i7 system... :D

And that's with an i7-920s OC'd to 3.6 ghz. However that WU is running on a VM so I can't use more than 2 cores which could have helped a little.

Nine more hours left on Project 5102. I can only wonder how that would have went if I caught that job while multi-booted into Ubuntu.

So....... do we stay with the CC until we hit 20mil or is it all over when the first one crosses the finish line?

We stay with it until we reach the finish line. That or we will get mowed by the Russians and Monkey Bollocks

I've already switched all of my clients back to my own account. We weren't the first ones across the 20 million mark, so I figure the race is already over. :( We were 5th in the standings when the flag was thrown, so thats where we stand IMHO.

This was my understanding too. Winner take all, there are no prizes for all of the other teams.

im too lazy to switch mine...honestly tho who cares who gets the points...its for da CURE

Don't let us come in last and get cursed!

On may 5th (cinco de mayo) at 12:00, the Chimp Challenge will officially start with each team folding under a single name. The official [H]orde name will be [H]ardApe and each team will still fold for their own team. The goal of the challenge is to reach the 20 millions milestone in the shortest time before others do.

The winning team will get the coveted jaded monkey and the loser will get a cursed and dreaded monkey paw. There is no monetary gain for winning, only the honor to be the best (or the worst ) and ultimately, it's for a good cause toward the science progress on understanding proteins folding.

You guys can give up. But OCAU are going to finish.

Last year you guys and the other 2 teams finished well before us and we still had days to go. We still managed to get over the line at reasonable speed. Giving up was never an option.

Think of it like a marathon. Does everyone drop out once the first guy has won? No. they keep going! and going and going.

So unless you want to be beaten by a bunch of rednecks from australia you better stop slacking ;) the Last team to cross gets the dreaded monkey paw. I thought Custom pc were a shoo-in for that but not anymore :p
