I ran into a really weird glitch which makes the game crash. I thought it was my GPU overclock but I ran it at stock too and it still does it in the exact same spot.

SPOILER MAYBE

So I get into the elevator to go to the Hall of Heroes and my FPS drops crazy low. Like into the 20's then just freezes. Have to ctrl alt del to get out of it. WTF!

Anybody else having this problem? I just tried playing again going from ultra to medium where my FPS was like 250 in the elevator and I watched it drop to 25fps and then freeze. Seriously wtf is going on with this game...

I have been playing it all day. That means it's great. I say this bc I only do this once a year or so. Does it have some things that you can bitch about? Maybe so. It looks like a dressed up console game but the effects and overall art are tremendous. Game play is solid as is the story and at least you and the girl have an interesting relationship. GOTY? Has to be in the top 3 easily.

Hey, i have a request if anyone can do it, can you upload the nvidia inspector sli profile for bioshock infinite?
I have a weird issue that i can't use any drivers past 310.70 with sli enabled, so I'm stuck with them until they fix it, so i would like to have the sli profile to be able to play the game.

Thanks in advanced.

Did anyone blind buy the Season Pass? Since I got $15 instant-credit buying from GMG, was thinking I may as well put it toward the $19 SeasonPass

Trouble is its so vague what the SP actually entails -- all it mentions are additional characters & weapons and new "stories" - TBA

It's 15$ in Steam atm ^, I want to, but need to get sli to work for me to play the game 1 card is almost unplayable at 2560x1440

I really didn't like Dishonored. For some reason, I'm getting a very similar vibe from this game. Any thoughts?

My PC copy comes in on Thursday which works out fine since I wouldnt have time for it until the weekend anyway.

Also snagged a free PS3 theme code for it from a guildie on GW2 and its one of the nicer looking dynamic themes I've seen, though it's lacking in blood/guts/Elizabeth....... ;)

I'm a bit uncertain about the whole "up in the air" aspect, but I'm trusting the story to carry me along and keep my attention. I still remember firing up the original Bioshock and knowing it was going to be an epic trip. Should be an interesting weekend....and I bet it flies by.....

Are you speaking from the standpoint of having played this game, or just based on screenshots? If screenshots then maybe the art style just doesn't grab you. I had a distaste for Dishonored myself but for different reasons - I liked the art style but hated the clunky gameplay mechanics that felt lifted off of a 5-10 year old FPS. The console-optimized controls didnt help either.

Played for about a hour this game is pure nostlgia it has Racist undertones I think Ken Levin is on some serious drugs item in a few weeks. I think it was banned in some countries if I'm not mistaken. The apples LOL well they are jagged but if you complain about that you are blind.

I recommend turning the brightness down to like half in game though otherwise the city is pretty bright at the start Plasmas are sexy and all that.

Anyone look at the "beta" section on Steam? There's like a dozen random things there, including one that alludes to a day 1 patch...interesting.

I got tired of Dishonored after an hour or so but Bioshock Infinite is very good. IMO, they are pretty different in terms of gameplay.

So far I'm glad I picked 1999 mode. Good challenge, nice balance. I have a lot of different sources saying start on at least hard for best results.

I'll definitely be getting this.

I'm disappointed that I didn't start on 1999 mode as I'm finding hard mode to be too easy (and I'm not even good at FPS games).

Ugh, I REALLY don't like the lack of saves. I ended up having to replay a large portion of the beginning because it never saved.

BTW, I got the hardcover game guide (pre-ordered awhile back, forgot I ordered it actually...lol) and it's TINY. I hope that doesn't mean the game is super short but it's seriously like half or less the size of most of the other guides I've bought.

I'm playing in 1999 mode. Let's see what she's got. ;)

Nice. I'm warming up the credit card, but I want to see how this plays out. I prefer BS1 and SS2 on nasty mode, really makes me enjoy it that much more.

in the Graphics Settings there is a 'Post-Processing' option with a choice of Standard or Alternate...which delivers the best image quality?...I'm going to guess Alternate but want to make sure...what does Alternate even mean in regards to post-processing?

im liking it on first impression, really enjoy the atmosphere so far, oh and YAAAAAA for native eyefinity support

Alternate gives the best image quality. It's more in line with Tomb Raider depth of field type effect although not that extreme. Things that should be in focus are alot more clear from the out of focus stuff. Although it cost some fps. About 10 fps for me.

Alternate is DX11 deferred lighting/shading, so it is better visual quality than 'standard'

I will never understand the need for hit indicators in a single player game. Is there any way to turn them off?

I' starting to notice there is some real bad memory management in this game or something cause with a GTX 680 running ultra settings, my memory is constantly maxed out, and so the game will constantly lag while its loading stuff into the memory. FPS averages 70 to 90 fps but will constantly go down to 20 or 30 while its loading video memory. Afterburner shows it always around 2000 megs of video memory used. I don't even get that with ultra settings in Crysis 3.

thanks!...will give Alternate a go and see how things fare with my GTX 580...I always like to push things as much as possible and then only as a last resort scale things down if I'm not getting playable frame rates

This is a really good game. I have 8 hours played, and I think there is going to be a lot more. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a solid 20 hours. This is on 1999 mode though. I usually restart from checkpoint when I die. I do have a surplus of cash at the moment since I'm a hoarder, so I have revived a few times recently.

I almost pissed myself because I said that I'd use the bathroom after the next checkpoint. It became a problem after I did that like 5 times. So yea, I really don't see how anyone who likes games could not thoroughly enjoy this one. Well worth the price tag.

I'm going to get up really early to try and get close to finishing it so I can get back to SC2 ladder =P

Arrive in strange, floating city

PROMPTLY EAT PINEAPPLE OUT OF GARBAGE CAN

being in the shoes of booker dewitt is just drowning me in immersion

Thanks for the tip about Alternate...it doesn't set that by default with Ultra for some reason.

This game looks so good it doesn't even look like a videogame. You got Art Novea influnces along with this Lendecker (a famous painter) kinda like Rockwell clean cut look in the game the gameplay is the same old bioshock I just rescued Elizabeth she is sweeeeeeeeeeettttttt.
Still has those big Anime influced type of eyes. I thought the sky hook would give me Vertigo (which I wanted) but it doesn't really the last game to give me vertigo is Jumping flash 1 and 2 on the PS1.

Right now it's more like a Movie then a game but it moves the pace I don't recommend running through the game though.

ran the built-in benchmark tool at 1920 x 1200 and everything maxed out including all the DX11 effects...average FPS= 49...minimum FPS= 10...maximum FPS= 91

hope that accurately reflects gameplay as it sounds good with my GTX 580

580 is a great card, should still last a while longer.

I do get random stutters and slowdowns at times, for no real reason. The game runs smooth though for the most part.

Interesting that people have mentioned framerate issues with the in-game VSync...works fine for me. I also force triple buffering via D3DOverrider so maybe that makes a difference.

Checkpoints are too few and far between IMO. Really hope they patch in some sort of save system.

Still loving the game so far...awesome atmosphere.

first night worked just fine for me but today i am crashing after splash screens before main menu...anyone else have this problem?

Noticed out nasty the flowers look, lol.

Any fix for the mouse yet?

Also, where is the shadow and vsync options? I don't see them in the graphics menu.

I've just had time to run the benchmark a few times... no matter what settings I run on, the framerate drops to sub 30 until I press Esc, then it goes back up to a proper value based on the settings (200 on very low, 60ish on ultra high) This happens on each of the 5 or so scene changes. Pressing escape fixes it immediately.

Anyone have any idea why it's doing that?

Not sure about shadows but VSync is called "Frame Limiter" or something like that.

I ran the benchmark and got (with Ultra + fancy DOF):

Avg Min Max
82.57 17.75 310.39

Not bad...clearly some optimization to be done.

I am doing something similar. I turned FXAA off (AA options) and forced SMAA Ultra and Dynamic Vsync in RadeonPro. It looks fantastic. I am not a fan of FXAA, it blurs the image and you lose some of that texture quality.

Oh, and the screenshot button is indeed a little busted...if you press it once you get nothing. If you hold it for a few, it will start taking rapid shots until it feels like stopping...usually about 20 shots or so.

I'm not sure what you mean, but those are not racist undertones--it's flat-out racism, which is one of the main themes of the game. It's not like Ken Levine hates Irish people and just decided to make a game to spread that message.
