BioShock Infinite

Anyone have issues forcing Vsync in CCC? Just wont work for me and whatever they do in game is a FPS killer

Something I noticed playing this game last night. Can you not stack up salts? I'm only like an hour or so in. I thought in the first one you could inject yourself with more when you ran low. This game seems you can only fill up the bar and not carry any more.

the one in game is absolutely terrible.

i turned it off and turned on adaptive but havent launched the game since i turned it on so i am not sure yet. i will let you know though

Any way I can get rid of the forced ad videos you see before hitting the game's main menu?

Usually you can just rename them. They're in XGame\Movies

EDIT: Well, tried that. Game not happy. Replacing them with empty version then, but I don't have my black.bik around.

From what I've played (two hours worth), the graphics are mediocre. Perhaps I'm spoiled by Crysis 3 and modded Skyrim, but I notice so many areas where there are horrible meshes, cubemaps, and textures, among other things.

+1. Not impressed here either. U3 is dated, most the character models look like crap. The telephone in the lighthouse was diamond as fuck - needs tesselation bad. Game like Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 have raised the bar and this U3 based game suffers hugely from the dated engine.

The worlds look pretty good but the lack of DX11 features we've gotten used to really kills it for me. Story or not at this point I need some shine on the graphics fellas, second rate graphics with first rate story doesn't cut it.

You can make the characters in skyrim look quite nice...

lydia_redone_.png

and it has the bonus of not looking like a Disney-drawn 14-year-old.

Yeah but we were talking about vanilla Skyrim.

Yeah, dunno whats going on with CCC. I can force things in other games no issue

Didn't work for me, but let's try commenting out these from DefaultEngine.ini

[FullScreenMovie]
;+StartupMovies=2KLogoSweep720p2997
;+StartupMovies=IrrationalLogoTest
;+StartupMovies=UE3AnimatedLogo_ProRes

...and optionally...

;+StartupMovies=AMDLogo720p

from DefaultEngineSteamworks.ini

Do not comment out 'LoopingMovieUntilStartupFinishes'

This works, but note that the game can now start so fast that it may play in the wrong res for a second.

How the hell can anyone call the graphics second rate?

Do you guys play games or just run benchmarks?

The graphics (artwork, mostly) look fine to me. I wouldn't call it jaw dropping, but decent quality for the most part.

Have u actually played it yet?

The sprites of the flowers, items on the grocers cart. Holy "screw the immersion" crap they look bad...

the sun shafts look cool, some of the settings look cool but it's ruined with some low res textures and 2d sprites.

I love this game. Seriously impressed Kevin pulled it off again. And they did a MUCH better job making this for the PC this time (unlike the mess that was the first one). I love it when a PC game works as it fucking should moments after it launches. Makes my day when its a big publisher that manages to do something right.

Yea, I noticed those too. Does that stuff really make that big of a difference? I feel bad for you if that's the case.

Yes, stuff like that kills the immersion for me. Tells me dev got lazy at some point.

"Fuck it toss the 2d flowers in and make me $60 per pop!"

Me too. It's like saying you can't get into a book because the punctuation suffers poor kerning. You still need to use some imagination.

You have a very simplictic view of this. Imagine us living in a world where there are limited resources. Oh, wait.. we DO live in such a world. Imagine that!

"Boho, vegetation doesn't grow in this game! I stood there looking at a flower for two weeks and nothing happened to it. Lazy devs."

you don't have a compelling argument on why it's ok to use 2d sprites in this day and age....but ok. I never said it had to grow but it could at least better than, oh I dunno... flat.

Both 1-2 also had some shit textures and flat scenery. The art direction in general makes up for it.

Sounds like you're looking for BS: Infinite DELUXE Super Duper High End PC version!!!

If they concentrated so much resources on such mundane details, the game would take twice as long to make, and come as a 50GB download....

I think it's more about what he's not looking for... : BS: Infinite Watered DOWN For Consoles Everywhere Edition.

Man I am getting old the graphics look great to me. I mean it helps that it has a cartoon feel. The art design is beautiful. Frankly I thought Skyrim looked like shit and so did Oblivion. Though they had lots of graphical enhancements the art aesthetic was so lacking I found Oblivion generally unplayable. You guys are crazy the game at worst looks fine.

You do know that many current gen games use sprites like that? They just hide it in some ways, using it on select foliage, area's where it's less noticable, etc?

Far cry 3
Witcher 2
etc

Hell Oblivion used it on almost all of it's trees and things.

TBH I think the graphics are good but the lack of AA options and Tesselation are putting the hurt on the eyes. I can't force SSAA in CCC with this game, but SMAA Injector seems to work fine. I'd just like to see Tesselation applied to almost everything in the game that it can be applied to because as was stated earlier some of the models are in dire need of it.

The artwork is incredible though, it's definately a GOTY contender and the story is by far the best I have seen in awhile.

Good luck with that nowadays!!!!
We should all be fucking GREATFUL that games like TR and BS:I turned out as good as they did for PC's!!!

That's the developers fault, not the engine, the limit for a singular piece of a static mesh is 65k vertices (you can split it up, and have more in dynamic stuff), which I assume that wasn't anywhere near saturating. :D

You don't need DX11 features like Tesselation to make stuff not "diamond", but DX11 "stuff" was available to them, they just chose not to use it for whatever reason. :p

so far I am enjoying the game. Getting the sky hook was entertaining. But other then that the game doesn't feel like a 10/10 game to me. So far I would rate it a 7.5. Theres no glaring issues but it feels average. Great story with ok game play and like every other bioshock game I hate how the guns feel when used. this is how I felt about 1 and 2 and probably why I never finished them. Games like tomb raider make you care about your character. so far I could care less if the entire city crashes into the ocean. I am about 3.5 hours in and opinions may change.

The two issues I have with the game so far are why do they make the default key for exiting containers the enter key, its about as far away as you can get from where most people rest their hand and the save system. Is there anyway to have two different games going at the same time without deleting your other save files. I wanted to play the first 2 hours on medium and on hard to see which I prefer without deleting all my progress from either one.

This answers my question about if there was quicksave in the game or not... damn.

Why do devs not like quicksave?

except for this game, i don't think that's a concern for many developers lol

Isn't there always an achievement for "complete the game without the chambers". If you had quicksave that would be kind of silly. :D

but it does make it a bit like the quicksaves in emulators, where you can just try a jump, mess up, reload, do the next, reload, over and over. Which makes it really really easy as you never get punished for messing up, and it's way too easy to do a perfect run. :D
