BioShock Infinite

The two issues I have with the game so far are why do they make the default key for exiting containers the enter key, its about as far away as you can get from where most people rest their hand and the save system. Is there anyway to have two different games going at the same time without deleting your other save files. I wanted to play the first 2 hours on medium and on hard to see which I prefer without deleting all my progress from either one.

does it even tell you when it autosaves? i was trying to find a stopping point last night and couldnt

I'm seriously enjoying this game. It gives me that feeling I got from the original Bioshock. I really enjoy the gunplay and the pacing. I fell in love with Elizabeth instantly. I can't wait to see how the relationship between her and Booker plays out.

And the game is pretty challenging on 1999 mode. I've replayed many sections over and over so I can get through using the least amount of resources. There are multiple ways to do most encounters which is cool.

Makes the game too easy?

More like it makes the game feel longer than it really is. Having to go back and repeat the last 30 minutes of a game just because you miss a jump or something doesn't make a game hard. It just makes it repetitive and ultimately boring.

I think the game does a good job with checkpoints. They are just far enough apart to create tension, but not so far that you're replaying huge chunks.

I left everything at default (except the FoV slider and V-Sync) during my 7 hour play through and thought the game was brilliant.

Very, very well done.

Started playing it... The story behind city and all the religious nonsense while bringing "Murrican values" to the world, and the part about "victory at Wounded Knee", makes a promise, that the backstory will be amazing, and just rushing forward, without learning the lore would kill most of the game's fun.

But, the Unreal engine is so outdated. The game, even at maximum settings is nowhere as beautiful as new Tomb Raider. It's too cartoonish, too little realistic. IMO 1st Bioshock was better designed and was much more better looking. I had much more bigger hopes for the technical side.

As far as music and sound is concerned - it's lovely, hearing the crowd singing "Goodnight Irene", or the choirs at the temple at start - that's a blast.

Yeah...that was my concern after seeing the gameplay videos. Finally going to get to check this game out tonight so we'll see. Maybe an HD texture pack can be made...? :D

dafuq? "Auto-aim is enabled by default and cannot be disabled via in-game menus".

anyone notice this?

True but it's easily turned off in the .ini files.

I have everything on ultra and maxed out and it looks pretty damned good to me.

You beat it in 7 hours?:(

I saw people saying that in the Crysis 3 thread and I got 12 hours out of that game. Don't sweat it.

I just may be biased against this game, because I finished TombRaider today and immediately jumped on BioShock, and it looks nowhere that good :)

It's a completely different artistic style. Do people really not get that?

I think some of you neckbeards find shit to complain about. The game is getting some major acclaim for its art direction but going by the comments in this thread it apparently was made in MS Paint by a blind man.

I just started playing and the motion was making me kind of sick before I widened the field of view. Much better with it completely widened.

Seriously though, aren't you enjoying the complaints like "the textures on the pears in the fruit stand were low resolution! what a fucking lazy developer!!!", cuz this thread is giving me plenty of laughs.

It would be nice if they were better, but ... I don't really care at this point. It's "good enough".

Ya thats how I felt when I saw it. I prefer drawn with a turd crayon myself. So reading most of the comments its a consolized poop stick.

Seriously this. The game looks fine.

If you miss a jump in this game you respawn immediately where you left off. I don't know what you are talking about restepping 30 minutes. The most backtracking i had to do was probably 5 minutes.

...what the hell? This game has absolutely zilch on the original BioShock. Everything is lit, you're constantly around lame NPCs, there's no sense of any kind of danger, and vague religious crap is everywhere. And how is the main character able to jump 900 feet into the air?

Play on Medium (or Hard, if FPS is your favorite genre). Light is a theme of Infinite, visually and woven into the story. That is by intent. The NPCs can add lots of lore/story/flavor, if you listen to what they say when you approach. Danger comes later and in greater amounts...and "Vague Religious Crap" is again, part of the story - be sure to search everywhere you can to ensure you pick up not just items, but Voxophone recordings that provide more story. Don't forget there will be choices to make along the way...The point is not to simply shoot your way from one encounter to another, but to get the "whole experience" by following the set pieces, themes, and story as much as you can.

Oh, and the "Jumping 900 feet into the air" thing only happens when there's something for your Skyhook to latch onto (tracks or cranes) and if you listen closely the first time or two, Booker will comment that the crane hooks and skytracks are (at times, electro-)magnetized.

If you are talking about the ziplines, did you not hear what he said when he first got one? As soon as you jump on the first "hook" he says " Must be some kind of magnet."

He doesn't normally jump 900 feet, it's only with the ziplines/hook because of the magnetic force the lines have with the hooks and such.

Have you got to the Handymen yet or the George Washington robots? Those are tougher then the more normal enemies. Also of course playing on a harder difficulty (or the 1999 mode, which works with the konami code so you don't have to beat the game to unlock it).

Also the "light" is part of the style of the game. Just like Rapture was dark and dreary with water filtering around it's Art Deco design, Columbia is the opposite, with it's bright angelic like sunrays glistening over it's Americana art themes.

so.. is it good or what? post screenshots people, screenshots goddammit! :p

I ran into a really weird glitch which makes the game crash. I thought it was my GPU overclock but I ran it at stock too and it still does it in the exact same spot.

SPOILER MAYBE

So I get into the elevator to go to the Hall of Heroes and my FPS drops crazy low. Like into the 20's then just freezes. Have to ctrl alt del to get out of it. WTF!

I'm curious, is anyone else having what feels like a skipping mouse?

I can't figure out if it's an issue with my laptop and video performance and I'm just asking too much of the equivalent of a 6770 mobile, or if there's something else going on. I'd hate to just buy a new PC without needing to.

I guess I'm just so used to playing Source based games, but I've had no problem pushing 1920x1200 in Skyrim or UT3 with high graphics settings.

First time to play any of the bioshock games, is this better with a 360 controller or mouse and keyboard?

Just played through the first little bit. A few things:

-Game is GORGEOUS. Graphics on the whole are MUCH better than videos and screenshots would have you think. Seeing it for real is believing.

-That said...there are two things that hurt the graphics at times. 1) No tessellation. A LOT of rounded objects are noticeably sharp in terms, tessellation could have fixed this. 2) Some of the textures are just inconsistent, even ones right next to each other. I have some screens but I can't figure out where Steam puts them.

-I have NO clue when or if the game is saving. I don't see anything pop up on the screen at all.

-Mouse movement is SUPER fast, even with minimum sensitivity and no acceleration.

-Seems to run smooth at 1920x1080 at Ultra setttings. Using Vsync in game, so far no performance issues but I haven't gotten into combat. I get some random stutter but that might be the game saving, I dunno.

Totally excited to get back into it. The world is just so amazing.

It's definitely got some difficulty. I semi-raged earlier. The guys with the shotguns are OP as fuck.

Right click the game in Steam, you should then see a "View screenshots" option, click it and it'll open up and show you all your screens, you can upload them to steam or view them on your hd and upload them yourself where ever you wish.

Top right corner you will see "Saving Profile" with arrows pop up. It's pretty obvious at what times the game will save. It's usually after quests or major events are complete.

Thanks!

EDIT: Checked, there was nothing there. I used F12...maybe doesn't work right in this game?

Weird, because I played for like 30 minutes and never once saw it say that...
