This weekend is just for those invited or who signed up for BF Labs before the deadline. The next two weekends after are the ones open to anyone.

I don't see the preload on my account which is registered for BF Labs and got the email so not sure if the preload is live.

This weekend is open to everyone. BF labs folks get it on Thursday.

Crazy skins aside I would have paid real money for Battlefield Friends skins and voices. That seemed like a missed opportunity for DICE/EA back in the BF3/4 days.
 
Cosmetics will be "grounded", though I am sure their definition of grounded differs from common sense.

I feel like 2 months post release they will claim the franchise has evolved, and they will claim the shark-men are "authentic to the franchise". Or reference the BF5 trailer with the woman using a cybernetic arm. :ROFLMAO:

Not horrific compared to some other games, but if this is what they're showing pre-release you know it can only go downhill from there. I can't think of an environment where purple and green would blend in well.

Those options have been enabled by default on new systems for a very long time now (a decade+ I think). You shouldn't have to mess with anything unless you yourself already purposefully changed it.
 
Got my beta installed. Looked at the graphics settings, no ray tracing but saw film grain, vignette, etc enabled so I turned that off. Will see how it looks during actual gameplay. Since I signed up for Battlefield Labs I'm able to access the beta early on the 7th.

As for secure boot I found this from EA. It's news to me but I'll go with it if it can stop cheaters.

Not on mine, UEFI boot is enabled but secure boot is not, I don’t recall it ever being enabled in bios defaults on any of my recent motherboards that supported it.

I said system, not DIY motherboards :). There should be the option to easily enable it in the bios on a self built system though.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, when you said system I just automatically think DIY motherboards. I knew Dell was/is using it, but it apparently was terrible. Anyhow I have to look at what the downside of enabling secure boot may be, it’s the first game I have seen that requires bios settings to be enabled.

I missed the live streams with the early access drops and codes that are posted in the chats now are redeemed so fast so I just grabbed an early access code for 87 cents from Kinguin.
It was 35 cents plus service fee.
It's a small preload, 40GB. Ready to give it a try on the 7th.

I guess no one remembers 2042, it looked good in the betas, when released it looked like hell and was a total shit show. After basically overhauling the game for months it looked good and played just as well.

This has been the case for every BF game since BF3, and has only gotten worse with each sequel.

You're exaggerating, lol. Anyways, this seems different because I hadn't seen anything broken in the gameplay streams so far. We'll see how our experience is by this weekend but so far I'm feeling positive about this release.

Got the beta pre-installed, opens on the 7th for me. Will see how it is. Quick shader compile. Hopefully this will not be a stuttering mess like most games these days.

I've supposedly been invited to play the open beta right now(that's what it said), but my internet download speed is 1MB/s, so it's taking me a really long time to download about 36GB.

I mean Riot Vanguard is by far the best in the industry as it stands. It's night and day versus CS2 where even free cheats run undetected for gigantic swaths of time because they're kernel mode.

Because some modern cheats are hijacking the bootloader among other fun things. Same tactics as, say, a bootkit/malware.

So, they try to remove that vector.

I talked to a friend of mine 20 minutes ago that as a hobby makes game cheats and trainers and professionally works on anti cheat/anti tamper and he said its to ensure no driver or/and hypervisor is loaded before theirs which makes sense based on how cheats these days work. So yes it should. However with any anti cheat vs cheat scenario the race will be on to find another method/vuln to take advantage of.
