No server browser either, what's the excuse for that missing?
Sad thing is, Battlefield has no real competition either.
Yeah there's a million shooter games released every year. But where are the other shooters with vehicles to operate in huge outdoor maps with two teams going at it.
Why is Battlefield the only game out like this? Why haven't other game companies made something similar and better?

Not even close. BF is not a milsim.SQUAD says hello
I think it's because it's a massive effort to create something of this scale which equates to $$$, and you'd be competing with the Battlefield name which carries a lot of risk. Unfortunately it's all about the money and pleasing investors these days, so the big studios won't take those risks. It's much easier and cheaper to build on top of existing games (e.g. Fortnite, Apex) than it is to create a new IP.Why is Battlefield the only game out like this? that is the question I ask my self about many games. battlefield is difficult to make I guess. or devs/publishers are money hungry and can't make money off cosmetic items in a realistic war game. if people stop buying cosmetic items, more authentic games should come back.Sad thing is, Battlefield has no real competition either.

World War 3 looked promising, but then that developer got bought out and taken over by the Warface publisher and the game turned to shit.Sad thing is, Battlefield has no real competition either.

What's really insanity is that they would attempt to double down on the idea of a BF battle royale game after they already tried a battle royale mode in BF5 and it was a spectacular failure. Is there any truth to that big rumor that Battlefield 6 or BF 2042 was originally going to be a battle Royale game?
I mean that's fucking insanity. What game director signed off on that being okay? That's not what we want. I want gigantic warfare with tanks and helicopters and boats and huge outdoor maps with two teams going for control and different classes
Go look at the Steam player statistics. Two of the top five most played games right now are battle royales. And that's not even counting Borezone and Fortplight. The BF formula is tried and true and great. Why the heck would they ever in a million years change it to Battle Royale? Makes zero sense whatsoever.

If you were some EA executive who only cares about maximizing company profits, why WOULDN'T you want to change it to a battle royale? They're the current cash cow hotness in PC gaming.
I thought it was decent but the people playing battlefield aren't very intersted in BR. it was also behind a paywall, so it was bound to fail. they wanted to make firestorm free but couldn't due to legal reasons. What's really insanity is that they would attempt to double down on the idea of a BF battle royale game after they already tried a battle royale mode in BF5 and it was a spectacular failure.
Most others would not agree with you, evidenced by the playercount. You know BF42 is oddly, with all of its problems and faults, is a game that has raised the bar. After playing the game for 90 hours or so now, I go back to other games and they are a decidedly boring affair compared.
Been having more fun playing BFV. This game is such a trainwreck lol.Wanted to play some BF2042 last night, start the game, and get put into the queue, waiting for players to join the server, waiting....waiting...couple minutes goes by, waiting...
Waited almost 3 minutes, and the server still wouldn't launch the game. Tried again, the same.
I exited and quit, them played some Destiny 2 and had fun.
Now image how good it could have been if they started over after BR didn't work and made a traditional Battlefield game. You know BF42 is oddly, with all of its problems and faults, is a game that has raised the bar. I've gotten back into Destiny 2 recently as well. I tried Battlefield 2042 without having seen any reviews or read anything about it. Thankfully, I had access via EA's Play Pro service or I'd be extremely pissed off about paying for it. It's easily the worst AAA game I've played in a long time.Wanted to play some BF2042 last night, start the game, and get put into the queue, waiting for players to join the server, waiting....waiting...couple minutes goes by, waiting...

Personally, I went back to Planetside 2 after not playing for a few years and had more fun with that.
I didn't play it long but aside from raw player count in a match I saw absolutely nothing remarkable about it that other games haven't done better. The graphics were nothing special. I hate the specialist nonsense (it's like Overwatch without the personality) and the menus / weapon customization is fucking horrible. On top of that it plays like discount Call of Duty. It has nothing to offer as far as I'm concerned. You know BF42 is oddly, with all of its problems and faults, is a game that has raised the bar. Playercount isn't even impressive. Older BF's had servers modded for 128 players for years, and they ran just fine.I didn't play it long but aside from raw player count in a match I saw absolutely nothing remarkable about it that other games haven't done better. Supporting it out of the box is cool. I think its a terrible game, but I am giving it credit where credit is due.Playercount isn't even impressive. Older BF's had servers modded for 128 players for years, and they ran just fine.
Trolling? Raised what bar? I honestly can't think of one thing the game did better than previous games. I even think the 128 player count was a negative because they couldn't structure the maps to properly support 128 players, and the performance is hilariously bad.You know BF42 is oddly, with all of its problems and faults, is a game that has raised the bar. The rocket exploding is cool, but no better than things like the skyscraper in Siege of Shanghai. Also it rarely explodes or launches. The beta was even better in this regard. And other than slightly different surroundings on that flag after the launch or explosion, it's just a gimmick.Yes, I know it has huge problems and not for everyone.
But man; raping the enemy team with the Nighthawk is fun.
Then today at the end of the match, saw the Orbital rocket blow up for the first time. Right in my face, on an HDR1400 monitor, searing my eyes, with surround sound blasting. Was glorious; no other game really provides such an experience.

Specialist, map design and atmosphere/tone are my top 3. The terrible UI is an honorable mention.Nah, specialists are in the top 3 for why this game is so bad. And its not just because they got rid of the classes, it's also because of how unbalanced the specialists are. One has a wingsuit that defies the laws of physics and the tech support guy can "hack" stuff?
And now the fragile devs cant take the pressure and criticisms being thrown at them so they lock a subreddit? Grow up you big babies.
Yeah atmosphere/tone is so weird. The story sets up this depressing ass post-apocalyptic world and then the gameplay is basically Saturday morning cartoon characters duking it out while spewing corny one liners. But I guess I shouldn't be sad. That's just how it works out sometimes.Specialist, map design and atmosphere/tone are my top 3. The terrible UI is an honorable mention.
The Irish Exodus short film was perfect. Give me that underwater map in TDM and we have a winner.Yeah atmosphere/tone is so weird. I've never played the singleplayer of any battlefield lolThe Irish Exodus short film was perfect. Give me that underwater map in TDM and we have a winner.
I'll never settle for a Battlefield game to not have a singleplayer again. SP sets the tone for the MP.
