Adata up to their old tricks again by swapping in SKHynix NAND, reducing performance by approximately 23%. I dislike when companies do this yet realize they cannot always get the same components. In this particular case there was no warning ahead of time nor labels to differentiate changes...
My gaming rig's mobo is an older ASUS Maximus Hero VII. The board disables items when in "m.2" mode.
I also have a Asus TUF Z270 that I don't see anything listed as being disabled when using m.2 drives.
So my questions about the ASUS TUF Z270 are this.
1. It looks like it has two M.2 Slots...

I want to buy a m.2 ssd for this laptop but I've read that it has some sort of limitations in the bios when it comes to the m.2 slot, anyone has had any experience with this particular model?
Thanks in advance.
Has anyone seen one of these?
Does it exist?
In my googling I've had a difficult time finding one. There are a few dual adapters out there, but they all seem to only hvae one M key slots for NVME and the other slot is for SATA only.
Appreciate any suggestions.
I'm interested in picking one of these ASUS laptops up for my youngest son who is entering high school next year. My first line of thinking is to upgrade the 128GB m.2 drive with a higher capacity, but don't know how easy it is to get to, so I was wondering if anyone here on the [H] has any...

According to the Japanese site PCWatch, Innodisk launched the "industry's first industrial M.2 connected video card" yesterday. While the product doesn't seem to be listed on their website yet, Innodisk currently lists 2 older mPCIe GPUs, and unveiled the 4K M.2 card in a press release back in...
I currently have 1 NVME card installed in my rig, it's the PM961. After comparing the numbers between it, and the 970 pro, I can only fathom running 2 970 pro's in RAID.
However this will be the first time I have a raid setup. Do you think there's anything better than what I proposed...
Hi
What options are available to people with motherboards like mine, an MSI B150M Mortar, that doesn't have an M.2 Slot for storage?
I'm currently running Win10 from a 500GB Samsung 750 EVO as my C:. I'm very happy with it, I'm just curious as to future upgrade paths.
Broadly:

I am from India and there are zero 2242 or 2260 M.2 256 GBs available here. I have this motherboard, I was wondering if it was possible to fit a 2280 in it. The specifications say upto 2260. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. There definitely is space for a 2280 as I can...
Greetings!
I'm a huge fan of Apricorn's ASW-USB3-25 (SATA to USB3) and AMSW-USB3 (mSATA to USB3) products that use a custom-branded version of HD Clone Pro called EZ Gig IV. It works great, simply, and easily!
Now, I am looking for a rock solid reliable USB 3.x tool for M.2 SSDs (multi-key?)...
MSI Z270 Gaming M7 LGA 1151 Motherboard Review - MSI’s Z270 Gaming M7 is based on the somewhat uninteresting Z270 Express chipset but never fear, MSI’s latest generation of motherboards brings a few new features to the table, building on the stability, quality, and innovation the brand is...
Hello all, first time poster here (Referred to by a friend)
My current situation is as follows:
I will be buying the I7-7700K and overclocking it near 5Ghz or under.
Due to my current older chipset I have to upgrade my motherboard for this 1151 socket.
What I'd like is the new lineup of Z270...
I'm trying to figure out which NVMe ssd is best for boot-up time, loading games and general over-all experience to go along with the new z270 or AM4 motherboards. I have never had an ssd yet so, I'll have to wait and see what the benchmarks say to help chose Intel or AMD. I planned on a z270...
Anyone else still waiting for theirs? I pre-ordered Nov 3rd on Amazon for the 512GB, and it still hasn't shipped. I've seen some people have received theirs.
Anyone on here?
I want to replace a preinstalled Qualcomm Atheros WiFi/Bluetooth M.2 2230 card on my motherboard (ASUS Maximus VIII Impact) with another that has better driver support. This is what the card I want to replace looks like.

"Is there a problem with using the ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming motherboard

Samsung 950 Pro M.2 512 GB SSD (MZ-V5P512BW)
that will contain the 64 bit version of Windows 7

To which Asus replied:

I'm about to build a new 6700 Skylake system, and it's been a while since I've built a box from scratch. I'm thinking the ASUS Maximus VIII line, but their higher end boards are more than I need. Would anyone mind giving me their thoughts based on my criteria?

I've been reading about the Skull Canyon NUCs. They come with two M.2 slots. These slots are PCIe3 x4. So I'm wondering if you could run a GPU off one of them? With a ribbon cable to a x16 slot, that is.
I'm thinking that current might be an issue, but could that be resolved if the card had a...
Howdy all.
Researching LGA 1151 motherboards and am trying to find the best mini-ITX board with support for the Samsung 950 Pro M.2-2280 SSD at full speed.
Google has been slow going. The ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac board is one of the few that I've found that sounds like it has...
Apparently there's only one in existence, the Sabertooth 990FX Gen3 R2.0 which came out back in 2013:

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming, Photoshop (or other intensive programs), Web browsing, strictly HTPC/Playback, etc. (If you have multiple things you want to do with the system, make sure you rank them from most important to least important).

Hi everybody
I would appreciate a clarification on the possibility of configuring a bootable raid 10 with 2 Samsung 950 PROs + 2 Intel 750 SSDs, still keeping 2 extra free sata ports for hard drives.
I was considering either the Maximus Extreme or the Z170-WS or the Z170-Premium which comes...
