Yea. On the Z97 it was held in place by 2 small screws accessed from the back of the motherboard. So depending on your case, it may require removing the motherboard from the case.
But looking at some pictures of the x99 deluxe, it appears you'd also have to possibly remove the cover on the...
I have an Asus z97-deluxe with the Wi-Fi and NFC thing. When I first built the system, trying to install the Bluetooth drivers on windows 7 64-bit always resulted in a crash or system hang. The thing that solved the problem was removing and reseating the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth device in its slot. Might...
I believe that might be the intel management engine interface driver. Seems harmless if you don't install anything for it. But you can install just the driver if you extract it from the install package. If you install the entire intel management engine interface driver package, it installs a...
Nothing has changed on the system though, except for uninstalling the old card (gtx 275 with 340.52) and installing the new card. Everything about the system is identical, including background processes. Also, the tdp% is the same in all three cases. If something was hogging gpu power, that...
Thought I'd post my observations about the 970 strix. I had to send back two of these to the place I bought them from (one from newegg and one from amazon) because of defects. One had occasional massive bouts of coil whine upon turning the computer on. Another had ramdom flashing dots on any...
The first one I got, a 970 though, the fans did sometimes seem to operate independently of each other. And as you say, the entire heatsink could be 'twisted' a few millimeters in either direction. Returned it for issues of occasional massive bouts of coil whine when first turning the computer...
I recently switched from a 24" to a 27" and was a little worried it was just going to be too big from 2 or 3 feet away. Well, it wasn't and I very easily adapted to the size. In fact, I would probably have a hard time going back to 24".
On the other hand, when you start talking about 30" or...
I've been thinking of replacing my HP LP2475 with a BenQ BL2710PT.
Reading quite a few experiences from people on these forums and product reviews that have gone through 2 or more exchanges for a decent "defect free" monitor has me a little bit worried because, unfortunately, I'm probably one...
I suppose it could do something, but there are tons of variables at work in these situations. You can easily find out about the causes of this physical phenomenon. Lots of info about it on the web. And it's not just confined to video cards. Finding a cure for it might not be so easy.
One...
I guess I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem (display corruption on monitor wake). So I guess it's safe to assume it's a driver issue and not the monitor firmware, the displayport cable, or the videocard itself.
I just continue to use a dvi cable, no problems. My monitor is...
I don't. At least I don't think I do! Sometimes you can't be too sure of anything.
But some people might have their computers on the desk right next to their head, which could be a problem, even for the low frequency puttering/hissing.
For me personally, I don't see much of a problem, and am going to just keep the card.
For someone with a computer with only 1 or 2 really quiet fans, I could see how this might be a problem.
Hearing is also subjective.
I recently got an Asus 970 and the sound characteristic of the whine is not a constant. Changing resolution, fullscreen/windowed, antialiasing, post fx, etc. All of these change how the whine sounds. And in most cases, whine is an incorrect word to describe this problem.
For me, I can hear a...
Ahhhhhhh! A Cairn Terrier! I lived with one for ten years so far (since it was 8 weeks old). You're in for quite a ride if yours is anything like a normal terrier. I run mine daily for 4 miles just to drain it of some energy. And the energy drain only lasts a few hours. Watch Cesar Milan...
Consider yourself lucky if you don't hear it. Some people can and some people can't.
I never actually noticed this until I got the G500. And then it took me a few days to realize it was the mouse. I actually believed my monitor was crapping out.
Now I'm using my G5 again, and although I...
Interested to know if it emits any sort of high frequency sound that plague a lot of Logitech mice.
Also, someone asked a question in another thread that I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to. The mouse has application detection and switches profiles based on that, which is good, but upon...
I'm looking for a new mouse and I'm very curious about the Roccat Kone. I currently have a first version of the Logitech G5. I went and got a G9x but returned it because the shape was all wrong. I then tried 2 G500s (I loved all the buttons and placement) but there was a fatal flaw with both of...
I've tried this on window 7 64 and the 186.18 drivers definately fixed the problem for me. Only I wouldn't really call it stuttering. I'd call it more of a sudden sticking, especially when I look at the sky or ground very quickly.
Can anyone with an asus p7p55d deluxe motherboard look at the color of the wires coming off the turboV remote connector? I tried removing the connector from the motherboard, but damn, it's almost impossible to get out once it's plugged in. And during the process, three of the wires pulled out...
It doesn't bother some people, or if it does, there's a chance of getting used to it. It doesn't bother me personally. However, for people with nvidia graphics cards, there is a setting called digital vibrance and of at least driver version 190.38, this can be set negatively. This pretty much...
If you look at dtflash.ini (location is where you installed the firmware update utility) there are sections marked between brackets. This seems to be the plug and play id. I gathered this from running the HP Display Assistant->Options->Asset ID. Mine says HWP26F7. Which, interestingly, is not...
I received an email from HP about a routine product alert:
Routine Customer Advisory Mar 10 2009
Advisory: HP LP2475w, HP LP2275w Widescreen LCD Monitor - Intermittent No Video Or Video Flashes On And Off When Using DisplayPort (c01685616)
Products: HP LP2275w 22-inch Widescreen LCD...
I think this is something to do with the firmware version. I've had three with version gig045 and never noticed the "scaning box" appear on the screen when the monitor went into sleep mode. But I've also had one with version gig034 and the behavior you described I've noticed as well.
I'm on my 3rd replacement from HP.
1. Two of the four I've used had very prominent buzzing (or high frequency hissing), especially at lower brightness settings and became somewhat quieter after the monitor warmed up for a while (30 minutes). The other two still made the dreadful noise but not...
I've had at least 3 from China that have the tinting to one degree or another. The tinting I've seen starts at the bottom left corner being greenish (draw a curve from the middle of the left frame to where the quick select button is on the bottom frame and that's how big the green area is). The...
I just exchanged under warranty an aug 08 rev gig122. It had firmware version gig034. I think most of the issues others and myself have reported in this thread are either people being too picky, including me, or HP's/LG's manufacturing facilities have some minor/major quality control issues.
The revision info/serial number is on a sticker on the box as well as the back of the monitor. The only thing it won't tell you is the firmware version.
So I'm on my 4th monitor, 3rd exchange from HP (does this make me a serial monitor exchanger?). This one looks like a winner. rev122, gig045, october 08, china. No dead or stuck pixels, no backlight bleed, relatively silent at all brightnesses. This one actually looks very good right out of the...
So I got a replacement from HP today. It's a rev 122 with firmware 045 from October 08 and made in China.
This one has the tinting issue, except the tinting occurs from the bottom left (green) to the upper right (pink). It's also more prominent the longer the monitor has warmed up. It also...
I noticed some backlight-bleed in the upper-left (just left of center) part of the screen on the monitor yesterday. I'm thinking, where the hell did that come from? I would have noticed something like that almost immediately after plugging the monitor in.
Well, I soon discovered I can make...
After having this monitor for a while now, I've noticed that mine makes a very high frequency hissing-like noise. It's almost like being at a rock concert and when it's over you have temporary tinitus. It took me some time to figure out it's the monitor.
Lower brightnesses increases the...
I suspect it is a combination of cleartype and the way the pixels/sub-pixels are arranged in an H-IPS panel that is causing the text issues. I personally don't have any issues with the text on this monitor. My previous monitor was a Samsung 204T S-PVA and the text compared between these two...
If you're reasonably happy with the one you have, I would say keep it. Who knows, you might end up getting one that's worse, with the addition of dead/stuck pixels*. I know it's not fun going through the process of finding a monitor that meets your standards. I went through four exchanges when I...
Week 46 (mid-November) of 2008. Bought from pcsuperstore.com and it came from a warehouse in Illinois (just southwest of Chicago).
A few things I've noticed since using this monitor for about a week now.
About 2 inches of the right side is slightly darker but only noticeable on bright...
