It sometimes goes into sleep mode just fine, but apparently it's decided to be extra fussy today and not do anything.
Running Vista Home Premium. If I put it into sleep/hibernation mode, it does the usual power-down thing but, when it reaches the black screen and would usually shut off, it...
Using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, I've got my 30" (capable of 2560x1600) connected to the M1530's GeForce 8600M and am only able to set it to a maximum of 1280x800. Do I need a dual-link cable to pull off anything higher than that? I'm not expecting to get 2560x1600, but I'm hoping to get 1920x1280 at...
I just bought a 2709 (it's in the mail) and my only connection option is through HDMI; no DVI. Will be able to run it at native 1920x1200, or will I actually be stuck at 1920x1080?
WUXGA screen. I'm guessing they think I'm blind, as they've hacked the default "Normal" font-size setting in the "Appearance" tab, so now "Normal" is "Large", "Large" is "Huge", and "Extra Large" is "Effing GINORMOUS".
Any idea how I can reset these to the normal? Is there a file in /WINDOWS...
I haven't bought a laptop yet, but I'm looking at a Dell for sure, and am wondering if any laptops at all come with dual-link DVI ports, which is what this monitor requires to run at its native 2560x1600. Do most new ones support it? XPS? Latitudes? Or am I just screwed?
Thanks for any info...
I have no idea what the differences are. I just need even tones, good viewing angles, brightness, and colour fidelity. Price doesn't really concern me, either. Having a lame monitor would be baaaad.
PS: Going 17 inch, and need 1920x1200 or whatever their highest resolution is. I believe...
This is nothing short of "effing weird". My brother's monitor, the W3, has somehow decided that it should shift its DVI display about 10 pixels right and 30 pixels down, thus cropping the image by just as many pixels. The result: I see what's inside the red rectangle below (note: he's heightened...
So I'm at my aunt's for Christmas and I have two days to complete the photoblog I'm building for my girlfriend's Christmas present. Problem: Their computer is not up to that task. I've got my laptop here and I brought a Linksys WRT300N Wireless router from work.
Setting up seemed like it'd be...
Alrighty. I've got another buddy in the market for a new PC. So far, he's chosen these components:
CPU: AMD X2 3800+ Socket AM2
Video Card: X1800GTO ("At least", says he.)
RAM: >=512 "800mhz RAM" (don't reckon he cares much which brand)
HDD: 160GB (I'd say WD or Seagate. SATA, though.)...
I have a 6mB/800kB connection through a Toshiba PCX2600 modem, spread to four computers (three wired, one wireless laptop) with a Linksys WRT54G v2 router (firmware's up to date). After about an hour or so of running Azureus/BitTorrent/uTorrent/etc., the connection slows until eventually all I...
Is this doable? And if so, how? Is there some fancy DVI-D-to-whatever adapter?
Just curious. Found my brother's PS2 lying around, and got curious. Heh.
Hello again... My brother's planning a new setup and shopping for a video card. "I'm aiming for something like a Radeon x1800 XT, or a Geforce 7900 GT. Definitely want 512 MB of memory. I don't care about crossfire/SLI editions."
So there you have it. I'm sure he'd be willing to hear offers...
My brother's looking for a video card that he can, later, buy another of to use in an SLi setup. So, if you have a 7800GTX that you'd sell, PM me the price and I'll forward it to him to decide, I suppose.
I guess the equivalent ATi would be an 850XT or something? If you have one of those...
This is the text for my ad on Kijiji, but I figured I'd post it here too. It's thorough enough, so no sense rewriting it.
Heat is 'offtone'. I'll accept PayPal or cash.
Asking $875 CAD + shipping, but a pickup would be ideal. Here's the ad...
I realize I've posted one of these before and sort of abandoned it. The person interested in that one decided against it and the whole thing slipped my memory. My apologies for that. However, this person is certainly not going to back out and is interested in building a mid-range system. That...
I already have one, but didn't have the money to buy a second when I bought it (I got it with a 3007WFP monitor). So, if someone has one that they've been planning to retire for something newer... I'd be happy to take it off yer hands :)
Heat is offtone. I have PayPal, too.
I just bought a WD Caviar 320GB, 16mb cache, SATAII drive to run with my 75GB raptor. However, the Raptor's on my only SATA2 connector thing, and I have the new one on one of two SATA connectors (it's on "SATA 1"). Anyway, they're both plugged in with power and all that, and the second one's...
I have an Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard, and my Raptor's already taking up its only SATA2 connection. I'm looking for a second, larger drive to use as storage for static data (music, video, my photography). I think 200GB would probably be plenty. I'm looking at WD Caviar's (16mb cache) but...
Edit: Just so we're clear, I'm looking to buy a 150GB WD Raptor from someone. If you want to partial trade, that'd work. Otherwise, I just want a 150GB. Maybe there was some confusion?
-------------
I've got a 74GB Raptor right now, and it's just not enough. I'm being advised that buying a...
If I were to buy a second Raptor, it's unlikely I'd get the same revision as my first. Would it lower the performance of the array, or would it perform as fast as the slowest drive? Finding the same revision is proving difficult. Heh.
Thanks.
I've got a 74GB Raptor ready to be purchased, but it's just the drive, sans SecureConnect cable. My mobo came with the usual red SATA cable, but am wondering if I should be searching for a SecureConnect cable on eBay to use instead. Does it matter? I don't move my case around. At all. So other...
I bought one off these forums a few months ago, but now it seems I've run out of space... Damn games and their hugeness. Anyway...
Update: The "revision" is 00FLA2. I'd like to have the same revision to put them in a RAID. The date on mine is "19 May 2005". So yeah, something similar would be...
I've noticed that my 3007 is doing a piss-poor job of displaying gradients. The transition from one colour to the next is really... Rough? From black to white, I see very obvious stepping between the shades of grey. Mostly on the darker end, but still very visible along the entire gradient...
I'm selling this for my brother's ex. He picked it out for her and she just doesn't seem to enjoy the whole "Mac experience", so she's aiming to sell it to buy a PC instead.
I'm a PC user myself, so I'll explain what I'm looking at:
It's an iMac G4 (the one that looks like a desklamp...
A friend of mine's after a computer with which she can manage her MP3s, browse the Web, do homework (run Office 2003), and play the occasional game (she's a huge fan of The Sims and the Rollercoaster Tycoon games).
Her budget's typical of any college student, but if you think you have...
I've got an Opteron 175 on an Asrock 939 Dual motherboard. It's cooled with a Thermaltake CL-P0200.
I've never overclocked a processor before, but I've been reading that these Opterons are good for it, so I was looking for some help and hopefully some warnings as to how far I can push it...
Ok, so the other day I setup my new rig by installing the Raptor with my XP SP2 CD in the CD-ROM drive. The whole thing went fine, and I got all the drivers and software installed. Thing is, the drive was called "H:" and after I'd partitioned it (PartitionMagic 8) I had another called "J:" with...
Well I'm looking at buying that insane 30" Dell monitor, and I'm told my X800 Pro won't be up to the task. So... Anybody have a 7800GT they're looking to sell? I'm in Canada, and my heat name is "offtone". One of the eVGA ones would be ideal, but whatever. I'll take what I can get, I suppose...
Firstly, I'd like to say that I hate myself for even briefly entertaining the idea of spending $1800 on a monitor (though it's easier after having spent $1200 on the 2405FPW...).
Before I consider it with any more seriousness, what're the odds of my X800 Pro being able to power this thing? Is...
I'm sort of a gamer, but I spend most of my time at the computer in Photoshop CS and CS2 doing graphic and Web design. I'm reading conflicting opinions on the benefits of RAID 0 when considering its cons, so I figured I'd just ask you folks for advice. I've got a 74GB raptor and I'd be willing...
I've just purchased the parts to build this:
AMD Opteron 175 (2.2ghz, 2x1mb cache)
Asrock 939 Dual Motherboard
2GB of Kingston hyperX (4x512) DDR 400 (2-2-2-5)
74GB Western Digital Raptor
Celestica X800 Pro
Creative Audigy2 Sound Card
I got the processor, mobo, and half of the...
I've bought one already, but after reading up on the advantages of RAID, I'm thinking that owning a second would be worth it.
I'd like shipping including in any quotes, just to save time in my asking what shipping will cost :P I live in Ontario, Canada. Postal Code: L1C 3V6.
Thanks for any...
My stock cooling is on the fritz so I'm looking for something to replace it. The fan's just sort of buzzing loudly, and if I poke it in its center, it'll just stop and sort of shake back and fourth and I can't get it going again without rebooting. When it does go again, it's noisy. I've seen it...
Firstly, I'm in search of a Raptor.
Secondly, I'm in need of either 1GB Kingston hyperX DDR 400, or 2GB of something else (OCZ or whatever; good stuff). I'll be running it with an Opteron 175.
Thanks for any offers for either!
Basically I'm looking to replace the key components of my computer... I'm running an AMD 3200+ (nothing's overclocked...) on an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard. I don't even know what brand of RAM I'm using, but I've got 1GB of it. My video card's a Calestica X800 Pro. HDD's an 80gb Western...
I can't seem to spot any dead pixels (and I'm picky about these things) and there aren't any backlight issues. It's a China-made REV A04 (I've noticed the earlier ones were darker... This one's not.)
I'd take $800 USD for it, plus shipping from my place in Ontario, Canada (I'm in Bowmanville...
