I have an Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard, and my Raptor's already taking up its only SATA2 connection. I'm looking for a second, larger drive to use as storage for static data (music, video, my photography). I think 200GB would probably be plenty. I'm looking at WD Caviar's (16mb cache) but apparently some are SATA II and some are just "SATA". Would I be wasting my money to buy the SATA II, given that I don't have a connector for it? Or are they still faster than regular SATAs when not hooked up on SATA II?

I guess speed shouldn't really be a big factor, as this drive's only going to be used as a warehouse. Still, I'm interested in suggestions to get the best for my money.

Thanks for any advice.

Best for your money is a 300/320GB drive. There is no decernable idfference between SATA and SATA2, don't let that be a factor whatsoever.

I bought a Western Digital 250GB 16mb cache SATAII for $79 shipped at NewEgg. Killer drive.

This will backup my RAID0 74GB 16mb Raptors.

wow they looks like a great deal i may pick a couple up and do some raid :D

Get the RE models if you plan to run 250's in raid, not the SE version. Do search why RE is better.
