I am going to try my games with the dock over the weekend. Only tried Skyrim so far and it looked like trash when in the dock so I quickly stopped. Although since then i've bought:

Mario Odyssey
Breath of the Wild
Rocket League
Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil Revelations 2

I have yet to try any of those 5 on the dock to see how it looks. The Pro controller looks nice, but I can't justify it since I mostly play the Switch in bed and the little thing that came with the Switch that the Joy Cons slide into is actually pretty good imo.

I am surprised you didn't get pulled in by BOTW, considering you like Skyrim. Both open-world action/adventure games, I love both of them. It is for sure different than previous Zelda entries but great in its own right, IMO.

I am warming up a little bit to BOTW. I played it for about an hour last night and I quit right after getting the parasailing thing from the old guy. I enjoyed the more linear Zeldas. It just what I have been used to. I need more context and direction when playing a Zelda game. Skyrim I knew what I was getting myself into, but I am frankly tired of open-world games. After years of FarCrys and Assassin's Creeds sometimes I just want to play a nice enjoyable story fantasy adventure game and I think Twilight Princess did that perfectly. Like I said I am warming up a little to BOTW but there are things that I don't like especially the degrading of weapons. That's stupid and i've always hated that in ANY game. Especially when Link is known for carrying a sword. I will have to read some guides on the game because they really don't explain much; for instance how do I know what condition my current weapon is? I just have to keep hitting with it until it says it's badly damaged and then it explodes after one hit? This is a metal sword. What kind of bullshit is that? At least with games like Witcher 3 (which is one of my favorites of all time) you could fix them with ease and they degrade a lot slower. Anyway, just s small gripe because I always have like 5 clubs in my inventory but still.

Also, I picked up a nice bow last night and I am afraid to use it because even THOSE degrade and break. Fucking stupid addition to the game and I wish games would stop doing that. Like I can get behind the make-believe world of Hyrule and monsters and magic, but swords and things breaking like that after using them is ridiculous.

You know what I find odd about the Switch design is the freaking dock , not to be cocky about my knowledge about Nvidia products but their chips tend to run hot and not as versatile as their desktop/pc counterpart.

Then they build this giant black box without any ventilation holes large sides where you not going to get cooling out of it and the drama of people having lasting scratches from the dock.

Then you look at this and you think Nintendo why did you have your head so far up your ass when designing your dock?

Cool idea in theory, but I have read a lot of complaints about issues with the 3rd party docks, possibly Nintendo updating stuff and breaking them. I tried a cheaper one from Amazon that had a lot of good reviews, and it straight-up didn't work at all for me. Then I noticed there were a bunch of newer/different revisions of a similar product claimed to work on X update of the Switch software.

DO NOT BUY THAT! Buyer beware. Many purchasers have reported that their Nyko dock has ruined their Switch. Not all of them left reviews on Amazon. Lots of people on Reddit have reported this.

I saw the reddit thread , but what I was talking about is the solution of the dock rather then purchasing anything 3rd party. You prolly can also find reddit threads on the scratches from Nintendo dock or bending of the switch , these issues are beyond the point I was making about how badly designed the Nintendo dock truly is(air flow , cooling & size) ...

I have BotW as a notable absentee in my library as well.

The total lack of save backup in any form hasn't enticed me to play any game that require significant time investment. I am waiting to see if they ever incorporate that. If they do, BotW is getting bought on the spot.

PS. Taiwan and Korea got official Switch release today, in case anyone from these 2 countries are reading.

It would be nice to get save backups or preferably cloud saves, but that wouldn't stop me from enjoying the games. I am hoping Nintendo improves their online stuff and gets cloud saves in order once their online service launches.

Oh I will buy BotW at some point, you may consider it a rearrangement of the exact order based on the current services available :D

Instead of the dock outright I use this adapter that just sends out a USB C wire.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Dock is behind my TV, so it doesn't really bother me this solution might seem a little cludgy. I just layed the switch on the tower speaker next to my TV. Then I added this stand, though the switch did already fit in an even cheaper stand I had for my phone. I had recently bought an iPad for guitar apps so it seemed like they're not a bad thing to have.

Again it seems like it'd be a cluster f but the dock is almost out of site out of mind. I recently got a pro controller, so that charging cord is just dangling back there now too, but eh... let's be honest, you go behind my man cave TV to pull it out and you're not thinking gee this USB C wire is really making it busy back here! Somehow I ended up with at least a version of every console this gen (again). =/

I’ve been using the crap out of my switch lately and it’s really a very good and fun system. Being able to take it with me anywhere has been a huge plus and I’m not sure why I didn’t do that so much righ after I bought it. I took my first flight with it yesterday and wow, talk about a great time killer on a plane. It felt like our 3 hour flight was over in an instant.

I know right. I bought it for a trip to my GF's family, she sleeps in and other such trivial excuses I sometimes come up with to buy stuff. We ended up with seats not even next to each other on the plane, and it just turned into a blink, there, gaming session. I started noticing other instances I could use it as I went about. I happenned to need a few trips to the DMV, once I got over the initial self conciousness of being a grown ass man playing a relatively large gaming handheld in public, made even the DMV a pleasure! I probably just hit a streak of use cases, but I'm certainly a little less concerned I'll get stuck waiting at places. I bring it if I think I just might!

Not sure if this was covered in the earlier pages, but I'm kind of looking forward to this: http://www.yesojo.com/

EDIT: Erg... nevermind! $269 is a bit steep for me for this.

If the resolution and brightness were better it'd probably be an alright deal. Official Switch docks are already $90 so an additional $180 for a pico-projector isn't terrible. Specs aren't good enough to get me interested, though.

There's a video of it in action on the UpUpDownDown channel on YouTube. The lighting in the room it was demo'd in kind of washed out the image for me. I thought the form factor and portability was kind of cool.

just canceled my preorder :/

1) the sticks are sensitive AF ( atleast in GTA V PC ... )
2) rumble function looks horrible, they should have not bothered with it in the first place ...
3) no word on the dpad yet, my sfc30 non pro started developing some serious problems with diagonal movements ....
4) 40ms laggier than the official controller, that's a whooping 2.5 frames of latency right there !!

I'll wait for a firmware update ...

Looks cheaply made (I guess the reviewer says they're solid)...though I guess it is quite a bit less money than an official controller.

I was never a fan of that layout anyway, I felt, from the image alone, that the dpad, buttons and sticks were crammed just to it can fit the original SNES dogbone shape.

That being said, I am actually more interested in the 2.4GHz SF30 controller.

I can not for the life of me remember that A and B, as well as X and Y are reversed. I haven't played a regular Nintendo console for such a long time that I am constantly pressing the wrong buttons even after already spending hours and hours with the Switch. It's like my brain just can't memorize the switch and i've gotten too used to the Xbox controller.

I just beat Revelations 2 on the Switch the other night and I still have to literally repeat in my head that the buttons are reversed.

You know, I'm the opposite. And it's odd because at this point, I've used the XBox button placement a lot longer than the SNES placement. The Playstation symbol system didn't cause me any issues, mind you. It would've been a clever decision had MS used 'WASD' as their button labels.

Firmware v1.10
  • 1.Fixed it will crash when using NFC on SWITCH mode.
  • 2.Fixed it will not sleep when Bluetooth connection.
  • 3.Change the speed of TURBO to 20FPS.
  • 4.Fixed without vibration problem when work on Bluetooth Xinput mode.
  • 5.Fixed input lag problem when work on SWITCH mode.
8bitdosfc30 pro here i come :D

in other news : bayonetta 3 is confirmed to be a third party exclusive for the switch along with the port of bayonetta 1+2 in february !!!11

They have launch dates for them, now? Neat!

Also, I am assuming that is an update to the controllers?

EDIT: yes, Joycons update.

Bayonetta 1 & 2 combo is also slated to have collector's edition in Japan called Non-stop climax edition (no innuendos implied of course).

But... chances are I will buy it, sell the physical game straight back to the shop and get B2 from eShop. Already have B1 on PC so not going to miss it on Switch, but lack of English text on Japanese versions is getting annoying with Fire Emblem Warriors, which I am heavily considering selling the physical and re-buying the digital (I bought the Treasure Box edition).

That edition is coming to the EU as well.

EU? First time I have heard of it.

I heard voices saying that US might not be getting it, never heard anything about EU.

Ok so I hate you guys..... I've been lurking in the Nintendo Switch thread and finally broke down and bought one over the weekend. I am so damn hooked!! My last console was the Wii and I am shocked at how much fun I am having with the Switch. I got Zelda and Mario Odyssey. I was kind of ashamed to buy it at Target....a grown man standing there with a Switch and a game lol

I shouldn't be though since I'm a PC gamer but for some reason it felt....weird. Now I just hide inside with my Switch happily playing games haha

Meh. I preordered mine so there was no line waiting, but i've played it before in public. I've played it at a bar once when there was nobody cool to talk to. I'm 36, but i generally give 0 F's.

They probably finally upped production/started meeting demand. I imagine a lot will be Christmas gifts this year as well.

Yeah. They started getting a lot of stock in stores around mid-October. According to reports the Switch was THE best online selling product over the Thanksgiving weekend into Cyber Monday. Not just among video games, but of the entire online retail catalog. Needless to say, they handily took the top spot last month in the NPDs.

Edit: According to a report on Variety three Switch games have an attach rate of over 50%.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Mario Odyssey

That means Odyssey has sold over 5 million units in just over a month. Additionally, Splatoon 2 has an over 25% attach rate.

Why not both? ;)

Both is great! However my "other half" of both is the PC. PS4 would be a good second place option though I'll admit. Actually, if we count my classic collection, my kids' consoles and my emulator collection...

Why not ALL of them :D

Why not both? ;)

I have both, and recently moved my PS4 Pro to the living room / dust pile. It's practically useless if you have a great gaming PC + Switch and will be relegated to Netflix N chill duty until I clear through my backlog enough to buy the very few worthwhile exclusives PS4 has.

This generation is even worse for non-Nintendo exclusives than before. Seems like every great multiplat is getting a PC release, even if delayed.

As soon as Netflix and Amazon get on Switch I’m dumping all the current dust collectors. Hulu finally came out so it’s only a matter of time now.

Shield TV is nearly perfect for such duties. I have a PC in the living room though so the shield is in my bedroom.

Yooka-Laylee. Anyone get it? How is it? I am going to purchase it digitally once I get home from work.
