20MHz IBM 386SLC
33MHz Intel 486SX - In an old laptop that still works!
33MHz Intel 486DX

Got all the Pentiums in a tray from eBay some years ago for like $20.
60MHz Intel Pentium
75MHz Intel Pentium
90MHz Intel Pentium
100MHz Intel Pentium
120MHz Intel Pentium
133MHz Intel Pentium
150MHz Intel Pentium

200MHz Intel Pentium MMX

180MHz Pentium Pro
200MHz Pentium Pro 256K
200MHz Pentium Pro 512K - was my firewall and router until last summer.

233MHz Intel Pentium II
266MHz Intel Pentium II
333MHz Intel Pentium II
450MHz Intel Pentium II - upgrade from the 333, ran Win2k and was my file/print server until last summer.

650E MHz Intel Pentium III x 2 - from a relative's upgrade.
1.0EB GHz Intel Pentium III

2.60GHz Intel Celeron - extremely underpowered, was given to me in an eMachines.

2.40GHz Intel Pentium 4 - had this in a laptop that replaced the 2.20.

2.50GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 - built a new bedroom computer to replace the Atom since I wanted to be able to play games from my bed if I wanted to.

CPUs I Still Use
1.40GHz Intel Pentium III-S - the last and greatest PIII, got it from eBay with a Dell Dimension for dirt cheap.

1.30GHz Intel Pentium 4 - RDRAM, oh god, still too expensive to this day! Built for fun.
1.60GHz Intel Pentium 4 - my first Pentium 4 computer and the one that really started me on all of this. Rebuild, the first one was fried in an electrical surge.
2.20GHz Intel Pentium 4 - upgrade from the Celeron in the eMachines. Also had this CPU in a laptop that died.
2.40B GHz Intel Pentium 4 - replacement for the fried 1.60.
2.80A GHz Intel Pentium 4 - fastest and rare 400MHz FSB P4, built a PC around it just for fun on the cheap.
2.80C GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT - played BF1942 for endless nights.
3.06B GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT - powers my huge 17" DTR notebook, also played many nights of BF when I was at my friend's house.
3.40C GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT - fastest Northwood ever, one of my favorites. I used this as my main gaming machine until the release of Vista.

630MHz Intel Celeron M ULV 353 - in my tiny 7" Eee 701, a rather good performer despite the low clock. Great little machine.
2.26GHz Intel Pentium M 780 - just built this one about 2 days ago. Had enough spare parts to build it, only needed the CPU and the MB. My non-gaming bedroom computer.

1.60GHz Intel Atom HT N270 - in my 10" Eee 1000HA. Plenty of speed for what I use it for.
1.60GHz Intel Atom HT 230 - my first Atom machine. I used it as my bedroom computer for a while until the 330. Now it is my router/firewall running Untangle.
1.60GHz Intel Atom HT 330 - upgraded my bedroom computer yet again and this is now my file/print/FTP server. Runs Server 2008 R2 with 4GB of RAM, handles whatever I throw at it.

2.16GHz Intel Core Duo T2600 - in my XPS M1210, my first machine based on a PM/Core architecture CPU. Extraordinary chip, came with XP which I upgraded to Vista (if you want to call it that) and then to 7. Not many processors can survive that many OS jumps and still retain their performance.
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo M T9900 - powers my new Latitude E6400. Blistering fast and clocks all the way down to 800MHz when on battery. With the extended battery and the battery slice that fits on the bottom of the machine it gives me 19 hours away from the mains!!
3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 - replaced the E5200 as my bedroom gaming machine. Uncannily fast, was going to OC it, but once I powered it on I realized it didn't need it.

2.13GHz Intel Xeon X3210 - this is what powers my workstation. Wanted to have a quad-core machine that I could do work on (I am a heavy multitasker) that didn't sound like a cyclone
2.40GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.0GHz - I upgraded to this gaming machine from the 3.40C, what an extreme jump! I have been wanting a new machine based on the i7, but I just cannot justify it when this does everything I can toss at it. This is the cyclone I referred to, not supposed to be quiet with 3x8800's in it!

Well, I think that shows my manufacturer preference... The reason I have so many machines is that I like to collect them and when I decide it is time to upgrade I eventually build another machine around the CPU I upgraded from.

Intel Pentium 100MHz

From day one of my computing experience:

*Parents bought*

1993: Intel Pentium i486 "DX " 33mhz First computer with 2X CDROM added later which I thought was Godlike back in the day

1998: Pentium 2 MMX "Klamath" 233mhz Slot1 Ran with kickass 3DFX Voodoo 2 card

*Self bought/built*

2001: AMD Athlon "Thunderbird" 1.33ghz First self build. Ran with king of the world Geforce 3. Overclocked to 1.4ghz. AMDs finest days

2002: AMD Athlon XP "Thoroughbred" 2100+ 1.73ghz First and only water cooled ring. Overclock not stable. AMD continues to reign

2003: Intel Pentium 4 HT "Northwood" 2.8ghz AMD now sucks and I defect to Intel. First successful overclock to 3.2ghz. Ran with first and only ATI vid card, 9800pro because nVidia now also sucks until 6800GT launch in 04

2005: AMD Athlon 64 "Clawhammer" 3700+ 2.4ghz AMD regains the throne, no successful overclock. Back to nvida again with 7800GTX

2008: Intel Core 2 Duo "Wolfdale" E8500 3.16ghz Current Intel Strikes back, overclocked to 3.8ghz. nVidia loyalty continues with GTX 260

*sniff* Good memories....

I don't really recall anything from when I was 10... but...

Intel Pentium 166MHz
Intel Pentium MMX 200MHz

Then, it was some kind of P3.. 733Mhz was it? Lasted well over into 2005.

Followed by P4 3.2Ghz HT (Northwood C) until last month :p

Currently, on i7 960 3.2Ghz HT (D0 Stepping)

I know, I change CPUs as often as most folks buy new car.

I don't think I can remember a lot of them, so some will be left out... Let's see.

386 ?? mhZ (33 mhZ I think?)
Various 486 chips of increasing mhZ
Pentium II 233 mhZ
Pentium III 800 mhZ
Penium III 1.3 ghZ (first Windows XP system)
Pentium III 1.4 ghZ (laptop)
Intel Centrino 1.7 ghZ (laptop, still have it)
Pentium 4 2.66B (533 mhZ FSB) for a few years
Next stage was the same P4 2.66B but overclocked to 3.2 ghZ
Core2Duo 8600 (for a few months)
Now I'm on an AMD Athlon x2 7750 at stock speeds

I don't upgrade that often usually. I'm not the kind of person that 5 FPS makes a big difference to. This one will probably last me many years :)

Holy shit, I wouldve commited sucide if I kept my Northwood that long!
Did I mention I went from WinXP to Win2008R2 in that move as well. :p

But in reality, I just did not know what to replace that P4 with. I knew I had to do complete overhaul, there was no question about it. It was never a question of replacing one part or another. It was all or nothing.

Intel Celeron 500MHz (10 years old)
AMD Athlon 1GHz (11 years old)
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (13 years old)
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (15 years old)
Intel C2D E6850 (18 years old)
Intel C2Q Q9550 (20 years old)
