You say that now, but I just had to install debian on a Pentium 2 233mhz. You know how painful that was? I can't imagine doing anything on a 486.

My cpu progression is a little odd, so I'm going to go backwards:

C2D e5200
C2D e2200
AMD opty 165
AMD opty 144
AMD64 3500+
AMD64 1700+
Some celeron @ under 1ghz

but interspersed with those are a whole bunch of ancient computers, the best being a p4, the worse being a pII.

Old 8088
Pentium II 266
Pentium III 733
AMD XP 1700+
AND XP 2100+
Pentium 4 2.66
Pentium 4 3.06 (Laptop)
C2D e6400
C2D T5750 (Laptop)

The list represents the computers and their CPUs accumulated in chronological order:

Intel 80286 (~20 MHz)
Intel Pentium P54C (90 MHz: Yep the one with the famous FDIV bug)
Intel Pentium MMX (233 MHz)
AMD K6-2 (500 MHz)
Intel Pentium III (933 MHz)
Intel Pentium IV Willamette (1.7 GHz)
Intel Pentium IV Northwood (2.66 GHz)

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.00 GHz)
Intel Core i7 920 (2.66 GHz)
Intel Atom N280

the Atom at the end just made me vurp a lil' :p

1) Can't remember/can't be arsed asking my dad what it was
2) AMD Athlon64 3200+ - got it to 2.5GHz on the stock cooler with stock voltages before the PSU started running into problems with the power, wouldn't run all the fans properly and/or shutting down at load
3) Intel Core i7 920 - it's at 3.6GHz right now, at 1.32Vcore.

Looking through this thread, I'm impressed. Most of you guys have quite impressive lists.

Pentium (1?) 133 Mhz
Pentium 4 1.3GHz
Athlon XP 2500+
Core i5 750, I don't get to upgrade much :-\

I'm so glad this thread took off the way it did. It's a lot of fun to look through and see the giant lists!

It was also quite fun remembering back to all the fun I had with each CPU and the computers they were in.

Intel 486 DX2 66MHz
Intel Pentium MMX 166MHz
Intel Pentium II 233MHz
Intel Pentium III (don't remember the speed)
Intel Pentium IV 1.5GHz

Dual Intel Xeon 5320
AMD Phenom II 940
Intel Core i7 920

Alright, here goes:

AMD K5 PR150 (Kryptonite)
AMD K6-II 533 (Chomper)
AMD Athlon 800 (Thunderbird)
AMD Athlon-C 1400 (Thunderbird-C)
Intel Celeron 633 (Coppermine)

Intel Celeron 2.0 (Northwood)
Intel Celeron 1.7 (Willamette)

Intel Pentium 4 2.8A (Prescott)

AMD Phenom II X3 710 (Heka)
AMD Athlon BE-2300 (Brisbane)
AMD Phenom X3 8650 (Toliman)

The only real disappointment on the Intel side was the Celeron 1.7 - it was a poor core to begin with, and overclocked even more poorly. All of my other Celerons overclocked in the 40-60% range, pretty good for cheap little things. On the AMD side, only the K6-II was poor, not even stably making it to 550MHz. Though, that was jumper-modding on a stock Compaq motherboard, so what can one say? Didn't get to OC the K5; that was in an old AST that I got after high school...

Athlon XP 2500 @ 3200 speeds
Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe @ 3.2GHz
Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale @ 3.2

E6300 to E8400 didn't make a lick of difference in terms of gameplay.
