Dan, when you add up the retail cost of every one of those cards, does it make you a little sick?
(I'm gonna guess $15k)
No. I've been spending upwards of $10,000 a year on computer hardware for years. Though oddly I'm making quite a bit more money than I used to and I don't spend nearly as much money on computer hardware as I used to. So far this year I've probably spent about $2,000 on computer hardware at most. (You should also check the CPU Progression thread. I've had more CPUs than I have graphics cards.)

$10k a year! Yikes!
I guess it isn't cheap to stay on the cutting edge all the time.
The only computer item that I've ever bought that was cutting edge was a 3x CD-rom / multimedia package back in 93 or 94 for $800.
Hmm might be as long as the cpu progression thread!
Well I for one have had far more CPUs than I have had video cards.
lies! your list is almost as long as your cpu thread!
! Cpus for me last longer then gpus, but GPUs I didn't really start buying till like 5-6 cpus in.
Not true. Keep in mind I've had multiples of some CPUs. Especially in regard to the SMP systems I've had. The only reason I've had so many video cards is due to SLI and Crossfire/CrossfireX. In the early days I changed CPUs more often because the video cards made little to no difference in actual game performance.
For the people here that go though many GPUs/CPUs every year, what do you do with your old hardware when you upgrade? Do you just sell them on ebay/craigslist, keep them around as souvenirs, give them away, throw them away, something else?

You know, there is already a thread about this on the [H]ard|Forum.
Anyway here is my upgrade path for video card hardware. Some of these were in my main gaming rigs and some weren't. I did however own all of these at one point or another.
