Watch Dogs

Ubisoft seems somewhat more inclined than EA to discount their games not long after release. So...maybe? It's really dependent on how sales look in the first couple months, which is kind of unpredictable.

Titanfall dropped to nearly half price a little over a month after release...will Watch Dogs drop that fast?

I have a theory about this. Titanfall's price reductions were an experiment in a new pricing scheme.

1. Advertise a Sticker price of $60
2. Offer game keys to various online retailers cheaper, with suggested sell price $45
3. Deny any and all DLC up until release
4. Continue usual DLC nickel+diming

The "cheaper" initial price encourages more retention for DLC purchases, and hopefully also gets more impulse buys. The bean counters hoping that this makes the bottom line better than just doing $60 game + DLC, especially for "unvetted" franchises.

Sounds about right. Also, given the rate pretty much any of these games drop in price, I see virtually no reason to pre-order or buy on day one.

That works pretty well for multiplayer games and is most likely true. But it wouldn't really work for single player games since DLC isn't as important unless it's an expansion type DLC (GTA IV expansions).

i wouldn't be surprised if watch dog shows up in a nvidia gpu bundle which means you can likely find cheaper keys floating around shortly after that happens.

but i have no problem giving a company a full $60 new game price if it is an open world GTA style game, i usually get well more than $60 worth of enjoyment out of that style of game.

but then again i am the kind of person that will go out and buy a 3ds XL just to play a pokemon game and never buy another game for the DS,

if something appeals to me i have no problem paying what i think it is worth to me.

i do not bother playing or buying most fps or 3rd person single player games unless they are some form of rpg or open world with exploration. i own crysis 2 and 3 and have not touched the single player granted EA gave them to me for free but even free i have not bothered to touch even the multi player.

angry joe interview they said you can turn off other players from invading you

it also shows the pov of the people on the IPAD/tablets and it actually looks nice from their pov

It's like a virtual game. He gets some sort of "tech high" and get into these AR/VR mini-games. It fits perfectly.

He gets a "tech high"? LoL, okay....no grasping at all to find a good reason to include this mode. In any event the rest of the game looks thoroughly derivative and cliched, I remain to be convinced that hacking will actually add anything innovative to the gameplay considering that Ubi has a habit of stuffing their games full of useless gimmicks that detract from rather than enhance their games.

I really enjoyed watching the multiplayer gameplay, there are some really awesome looking modes in there! That got me pumped for the game..

Interesting in knowing the cize of the city. This game could be amazing, but if the city is relatively small (GTA5) then it gets old much faster.

I didn't feel like size was a problem in GTA5. There just wasn't any reason to continue in single player after you finished the storyline.

GTA5 had a lot of empty space though no? Seems like Watch_Dogs will be a city and then some close boroughs. I don't think size will be an issue.

Edit: I forgot from some of the footage there is a bridge and it seems kinda long, but I'm not sure what's on the other side. We've only seen from the perspective of trying back to the city (I think).

Indeed. This isn't so much a problem with open-world games like Skyrim because there are SO many quests to do, it takes you hundreds of hours to complete them all. And even after that, there are the "radiant" quests...which admittedly are kind of boring, but still.

With GTA 5 there is nothing interesting to do after you finish all of the quests. They really needed some sort of dynamic heist system or at least allow you to set up random assassination missions, robberies, or any number of other things more interesting to do than yoga or playing golf/tennis.

Racing does NOT count...if I wanted to race I would play an actual racing game.

Knowing Ubisoft, Watch Dogs will be in the AMD Gaming Bundle and vouchers will be sold on ebay for $30-40.

I think they were hoping the online play would take off,but its pretty much a wild west clusterfuck.

This! This! This!

I loved the heists. They really ought to put out some killer DLC or something that incorporates what you are talking about here.

Watch Dogs developer Ubisoft has teamed up with Nvidia to offer free a PC copy of the game to anyone who upgrades their graphics card.

10 recent models are included in the deal, including the Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan, 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760, 690, 680, 670, 660 Ti and 660

Obligatory "person who didn't follow the thread too well" question: when's this coming out?

Looks like it's time to grab another 780 for no reason and get the free game with it.

I'm still holding out for the PC version of GTA5. How big is it in comparison to GTA4 and San Andreas?
I recently replayed GTA4 and while it isn't as huge as SA, it's filled with lots of detail and nuances.

Honestly, I didn't think GTA V was anything special (played it on PS3). Is it worth picking it up for $30 or so and playing through once? Sure. You could even try the MP if you really wanted, but personally I didn't think the MP was that great. The SP was on par with what you would expect from GTA, though.

I think the only way I would buy it if it came out on PC was in the bargain bin for $10 or less.

yeah i am not overly excited for gta5 atm on pc, once you play through it once there is not much incentive to keep playing.

Ubisoft has detailed the content included in Watch Dogs' upcoming season pass- the bulk of which is a new side-campaign featuring side-character T-Bone...the dreadlocked accomplice of main character Aiden Pearce has his own playable missions...Season pass holders will get a new alternate reality Digital Trip mini-game, Conspiracy!, which sees players hunting down cyborgs, as well as "more single player missions, weapons and outfits"...

yeah as much as i am hyped for watch dogs, i can hold off getting a season pass until i play the main game.

Why do they call it a season pass? Is it only good for the gaming season? When is gaming season? I know fishing just opened up...

It was delayed 6 months already...

Haven't really been following it, last I heard it was supposed to be released much later in the year (if I even recall correctly, I may be entirely off base and confusing it with something else).

The perks of working full-time and running a company on the side, no time for reading!

GTA 5 PC petition passes 700,000 signatures, game is now taking longer than GTA 4 to hit PC...

I'm actually starting to wonder if it might not ever come out. People swore up and down that RDR would be out "next year" and it never did show up.
If I don't at least have a confirmation that the game will coming to PC by July, I'll just get a used copy of the 360 version. I don't even mind waiting for Christmas, but I don't see the point in waiting much longer without an announcement.

Don't get why Rockstar is dragging their feet on the PC version of GTA5. I guess they don't want to make more money.

That being said I agree with others: When you're done playing the storyline there is zero incentive to continue playing. The MP is decent but nothing that's going to get a ton of mileage. If they would build on the heists that would be huge. The heists were fantastic.

Get Just Cause 2 and Sleeping Dogs instead if you haven't already. Both of those games are better in some ways than either GTA 4 or 5 IMHO.

Still have hopes for Watch Dogs being good. No way to know how good yet.

I agree. RDR not being on the PC is a tragedy. It may be Rockstar's best sandbox style game outright. I still play it on occasion. The MP is fantastic. Great game. One of the best games of now last generation going by console cycle. Top 5 at least.

The visual fidelity is definitely not on point to E3 2012 – without big explosions which make sense – and the daytime looks bland and equivalent to Grand Theft Auto V (a last generation title which was highly optimized). Keep in mind, this is just on consoles after all. PC will perhaps match the E3 2012 footage, which was stated to have been run on a PC originally. Watch Dogs is a beautiful singleplayer experience with a lackluster multiplayer twist. The game is fun and has a lot of things to do for a free roam, but it just lacks as a title which delivers it all. People will want to just stick to Grand Theft Auto V on May 27th and stay in Los Santos just a little bit longer.

Man, the lack of real time lighting/shadows really knocks the day-time graphics down a ton.

Once you notice that it just looks so last gen.

The night time (especially with rain) looks great, it's like a last gen daytime with next gen nighttime, because the night time looks so good the day time is even more of an eye sore.

what happened to the new consoles sharing PC architecture and DX11 making next-gen games look close to PC quality?...do we have to wait a year or 2?

Watch Dogs doesn't look like it'll be anything close to revolutionary...maybe an 8/10 max

WELCOME TO NEXT GEN! lol....

I've redeemed my code for Watch Dogs through Uplay. I'm just waiting for it to hit. I hope it's good.

looking "pretty" is important.... but a lot of people are too young (or too stupid) to realize it's really second to simply being FUN.

I'm much more forgiving on graphics as long as i'm having a good time.

At some point in the past devs and publishers figured out they can get away with crap gameplay, and all the DLC microtransaction bullshit as long as they had some pretty shiny graphics to distract you.

Either way -- can't wait for some legit reviews, I have no problem plunking down some cash for this game. Fuck all if I pay retail for it though ;)
