Watch Dogs

Which makes me wonder if we'll see a WiiU2 within a few years. They seem to be doing the less-powerful but more rapid approach to consoles. More sales that way of cheaper units.

Hard to say. For some reason I just have this gut feeling the Wii-U is probably going to be it for them in terms of dedicated console hardware.

As it should be. Nintendo needs to stick to software if they want to have continual success. I know no one with a Wii U or for that matter no one who has even heard of it -- these are console people who all own Xbox/ps3 etc.

Wow look at these requirements

Eight core CPU? Really? Is this going to be another GTAIV where due to iffy optimization it's super heavily CPU bound because of consoles?

BF4 uses 8 cores so shouldnt be surprised when they had to multithread the game for consoles

Is BF4 asking for a $600 CPU to run it at max as well?

Stop with optimisation crap please. Those are the first next gen conaole title that run multithreaded, and yes the pc iq will be higher than next gen console.

Bf4 is highly multithreaded, this one will and all title from this day that have a next gen version that is coming to pc will be.

I REALLY cant beleive how some pc gamers are. Use 2 core out of 8, they are lazy, use 8 core, its not optimized. Wont be if cpu and gpu arent topping 90% usage on next gen title

Right?

I saw 8 core cpu and thought "wow they really coded this thing to use as many cores as possible. Cool!"

History has taught to me to be skeptical of games having high specs, at least console ports. If I'm wrong, awesome. Until there is proof of that however I will remain skeptical.

ONE person in this thread has said that...

I'm pretty sure one person does not represent all of PC gamers. Honestly, the wanton bashing of PC gamers as a whole is much more infuriating than PC gamer "elitism" ever was.

impressive...the minimum is a quad core, DX11 and 64-bit...

hopefully my six-core CPU can finally be put to use in a game...I was expecting the 'Ultra' specs to be killer and include at least a GTX 780 but it's not much different then the 'Recommended' one...

Looks good. MY 2500K @ 4.2GHZ is ready. Just not sure my GTX 580 3GB Lighting card will be.

Well not all quad cores are equal, I hope my 2500k running at 4.8 can max this game. If it can't then so be it, but we'll see.

If it can't drop one setting from 'ultra' to 'high', done. No need to buy any new hardware.:D

Watch Dogs delayed until Spring 2014

Spend more time in Los Santos...

http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-delay/

Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated.

We can’t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you’ll love this game as much as we love working on it.

So much for one of my biggest anticipated titles of this year.

its kinda fine with me, too much stuff to do this fall/winter, BF4, X-Rebirth, SC dogfight alpha, even tho i only just pre orderd watch dogs a few days ago for $45.86 i dont mind it being delayed if it will be more polished

Same is true for many of the "issues" in "gaming culture". A very, *very* small portion of the population is guilty of something and all of a sudden gaming is this wholly toxic place where misogyny, racism and elitism are all you can find wherever you look. Gamers are not some representation of a hive mind, individuals say things and those individuals needs to be addressed individually. I'm not responsible for other people's idiocy...only my own ;)

Imagine the very real possibility that Watch Dogs and GTA 5 hit on the PC at roughly the same time? ;)

I know which one I'd get. Sorry GTA, but this is what happens when you give me several months to cool off :p

That's not even the half of it. I have a fairly big list of "must-buy" and "already kickstarted/preordered" games. Probably more than at any point in the history of gaming.

Pretty much guarentees I won't be buying GTA 5 on PC next year. See you in the bargain bin!

Watch Dogs interested me much more previously, but the more I see of the gameplay videos, the more I'm worried it'll end up as some semi-generic open world game with some minor, gimmicky additions.

The latest issue of PC Gamer had a preview of it and there were a few small details that were mentioned that *potentially* concerned me a little bit:

I got the idea from reading that...at least the game up to this point...you're in a glass bubble world where there aren't enough consequences for doing really obvious things.

I'm glad the game is being delayed if it means taking their time and really making this thing shine. I have plenty of other games to look forward to in the mean time.

Pretty crazy to delay a highly anticipated game to April->June 2014 that was not even a full month away from release.

Not to mention this game was suppose to be a huge sell for XB1 and PS4. And it was to be included in bundles too - now what?

wow that's a big delay...and they wait to announce this 1 month before release?...oh well this makes getting AC4 an easy decision...they were both set to come out on the same day and I was going to get Watch Dogs on Day 1 and wait on AC4

I don't think Ubisoft hurt this year in earnings, so perhaps this move was more of a business choice so that they can be sure 2014 will look good on their earning reports.

this close to launch it HAD to of already been sent out to production
incoming massive day one patch

i think that it coming out on the same day as AC4 has more to do with it
Watch Dogs was way ahead in pre-orders and im sure it was eating a lot of the AC4 sales

Modern logostics and game development being what they are, you only need 2-3 weeks tops from Gold to boxed copy on shelves. The pushback probably occurred before final Gold verification.
