Watch Dogs

I don't think Ubisoft hurt this year in earnings, so perhaps this move was more of a business choice so that they can be sure 2014 will look good on their earning reports.

I think the delay has more to do with the fact that Ubisoft didn't want to release both their tent pole franchises during the same time period...I think they would have preferred pushing AC4 back but since that has more of a built-in fan base plus a new AC game always comes out in October/November they made the decision to delay Watch Dogs

I think there are several reasons at play here, both technical with the game and timing. It simply makes sense to delay it. AC4 have seen a lot more pre-orders. This way they can improve the game and restart the hype machine. But man... shitty for people who bought bundles and where looking forward to the game.

rumors are that this delay is just the first one...speculation is that we won't see the game until Holiday 2014

Wow, was NOT expecting this delay, Watch dogs was one of people's biggest " next gen" titles that everyone was looking forward to.

Delaying it with only one month before release and not only that but delaying it over 6+ months? WTF? That's a LOT longer delay then usual for just polishing up/bug fixing.

Wouldn't surprise me.

I agree and I suspect this delay was not something that came up out of nowhere real fast in the last few days.

so I guess the only big new launch title for the next-gen consoles is Ryse: Son of Rome

Ubisoft's upcoming open-world racing game 'The Crew' has also been delayed from early 2014 until Q3 of next year on PS4 , Xbox One and PC...looks like Ubisoft is doing some reshuffling

Let's not forget that the new Batman game and AC4 are coming out soon enough, we still have things to look forward to!

publishers are all scared of releasing titles in November now...call it the Battlefield or CoD syndrome...this new Batman game looks meh to me but I'm hoping to be surprised...AC4 is also getting lukewarm previews but I'm a AC fanboy so I'm still in for that

I'm trying to be very optimistic for Batman, so I hope we're not disappointed.

AC4 sure is looking pretty fantastic, so it's a big title for me this holiday season.

WTF could possibly be wrong with the game? I get the impression that someone decided it should play more like GTA.

I actually saw the demonstration at NYCC this weekend and the game looked fine.

I am bummed about the delay. Its the only game I have pre-ordered for my PS4. Now I dont really know what to get to play with my PS4 at launch. Im not really looking for a shooter so BF4 and Killzone are meh to me.

Damn it, I had $25 in Steam bucks saved up from card sales to apply towards Watch_Dogs....

Wait a minute, this means I still have time to completely fund my purchase of Watch_Dogs from selling non-existent items to idiots....

Unleash more cards Steam!

This stuff amazes me too. I actually haven't gotten rid of any trading cards, but I'm thinking I should. I did have a handful of TF2 items (not sure how, as I don't play it) and in the course of a few hours I made like $12. It was enough to buy Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 1 and 2 in the sale Steam just did. I dunno why people pay real money for that crap, but I'm glad they do :p

The delay sucks but if it gives us a better game in the end it is worth the wait. Also, it gives me more time to upgrade my graphics card before it comes out.

They probably oversold how interactive and big the game was going to be, spent a couple weeks playing GTAV and saw their game didn't stack up.

There very well could be some truth to this. I was reading about WD some time ago and the devs made a point that it was not a GTA clone.

I like GTA 5, i think it is a damn good game, but a vast majority of the world has zero interactivity. The biggest 'grind my gears' issue with the game is that they could have done so much more with the underwater portion of the game. What 30 or 40% of the game world is water and there is literally nothing to see or do in it.

As long as Watch Dogs has well thought out missions, good gunplay (huge imo) and intuitive hacking I will buy it. If it is like GTA where I have 30 damn parachute missions or races, I will skip it.

They very well could've known the chances of the games being finished in time were low. But announced and hyped them anyway to get pre-orders.

I'd rather them beef those games up rather than disappoint consumers permanently. Not shipping your game on time is explainable. Having your game suck is irresponsible and kills any chance of selling consumers DLC and sequels.

Not likely. Game isn't much different the GTA4. Story aside.

the fact that they showed the game at NYCC a few days ago shows that something is not right with this delay...I think Ubisoft made the call at the last minute...I think it had to do with not wanting AC4 and Watch Dogs to overlap and potentially competing against each other

I don't think pirates of the Caribbean 4 will be really competing with watchdogs.

Showing the game for a certain portion doesn't necessarily mean the game is fully ready to ship. Something has clearly come up, and it's pretty crazy to act like we know what's going on, when we really don't.

I think they're pushing it back to drum up a lot more interest. Their last 2 big releases (Splinter Cell and Rayman) didn't sell nearly what they thought. They're probably trying to save it for the Spring, where competition won't be nearly as fierce.

Some project managers really deserve a pink slip for this one. They didn't have any insight into the other games that are (or were reportedly) being released around November? Really? What a clusterfuck

Totally. No matter how you feel about this whole thing, you gotta admit this is total comedy lol

No shit, huh?

This really is a mess.

I think you've called Ubisoft out quite a lot over the years & they haven't exactly improved their image much. I'm very unhappy w/ their decision making since I really wanted to play Watch Dogs.

But seriously. It'll come out when it's ready, and we'll all still flock to buy it. I know I will.
