Watch Dogs

Fair enough. I guess my initial point was that I hope there is more to Watch Dogs than we are seeing. The graphics are great, the concept is great, but if it's just running around doing random shit like GTA or Infamous then it's not going to hold my attention. Even with the hacking element, so far all we've seen is chasing down a guy, shooting and cars. None of which look particularly futuristic other than the "hacking" which really just seems to be an expansion on already-existing technology.

Well you don't want them to give everything away do you?

I personally think I'd like to see it only slightly in the future, as it seems to be now. Don't necessarily need robots and all that.

I guess. I'd like to see a little more to convince me it's not going to be just another GTA clone, though. I'm getting rather sick of those (personal preference, of course).

Honestly if the only futuristic concept we get in Watch Dogs is the hacking, I'm not impressed.

First boss fight in Deus Ex where I was forced to use a gun, I uninstalled the game and haven't played it since. Up to that point I was excited to do everything perfectly and on the hardest difficulty level. Bad game design decisions can ruin an otherwise great game. I hope Watch Dogs sticks with a theme and expounds upon it as the story and game unfolds.
Oh cagey, that's just silly! You need to go beat that game, seriously. While it does suffer from a meh ending, the entire game is just so amazing. I agree--best game in at least the last 5 years. I've got about 120 hours in it lol (3.5 playthroughs)

Also, you can totally not use a gun the entire game if that's your thing, even on boss fights (which i admit were one of the weakest links in the game).

Agreed. I'm getting QUITE tired of GTA clones. And also of AssCreed clones. Slight de-rail, but i saw an article in my little bro's game informer about the new Theif, and felt all my hopes for that game disappear as i realized it was just going to be a 'Theif' skin on another Assasin's Creed game.

I need to play through it again, I think it's about time...I only did one (usually do on games) but I went total stealth and so I might go guns blazing this time just for the hell of it.

And the boss battles were universally panned...it's no surprise since they were outsourced, so it wasn't even the same company responsible (well, technically they are responsible for outsourcing...).

The thing is, there are too many guns for one 'guns blazing' playthrough, which is why I have so many lol

I still need to do another playthrough because i SOMEHOW missed the several silenced sniper rifles that are in the game... and i thought i was searching shit thoroughly.

It's weird to me that they outsourced the boss fights... i mean, who does that and why? Just seems nonsensical.

I did specify "decent" :p

No, I did :D

Seriously, each game listed in that list of mr. Spewn has sever problems.

Even RAGE is not as decent and sci-fi enough as I'd like and this is id Software we're talking about.

Studios are trying to cater to people like naticus. That's the problem.

WHY YOU SPOIL MOVIE?!

I am sorry if I seriously did spoil it for you. Edited my post just in case someone else reads it.

it's an old movie and I assumed anyone with interest in anything sci-fi would have watched it by now(especially with the top of the line remaster it's gotten, gorgeous on blu ray) one of the best Sci fi movies of all time.

blade runner?

Watch Dogs is getting too hyped to the point where it can never live up to the giant expectations...I'm looking forward to the game but have my doubts about how much of a gamechanger it will actually be...it'll probably end up more generic then unique

No, I was kidding. Though if you watch the cut that Harrison Ford wanted never made, you might come to another conclusion about the plot ;)

I believe that as well. I think it's intended to be a PS4 launch title.

Thats what I heard as well, supposedly its going to be the first platform to be released, and then the others. But anything could change from now and then

That would be retarded considering they said the PC was the main development platform.

official release date is November 19th...Ubisoft also detailed the various special editions of the game that will be made available

Purchase the game through Ubisoft's Uplay store to get the Watch Dogs Uplay Exclusive Edition, which comes with three additional single-player missions. Ubisoft says the trio of objectives add almost 60 minutes to the game...the three missions are called the Palace Pack, Signature Shot, and Breakthrough Pack. They're all offered in various other combinations with various other retailers, and offer bonuses after completion that will help out in the rest of the game.

The most expensive edition of Watch Dogs is The Dedsec Edition, however, which offers up a 23cm figurine of protagonist Aiden Pearce, a steelbook case, an artbook, soundtrack, map of Chicago, four collectible cards, three badges, and all three extra missions. The Watch Dogs Deadsec Edition is available at selected retailers

Sounds like a cross-platform simultaneous release, as well. Not overly happy with retailer-exclusive pre-order shenanigans but it seems we can't avoid that these days.

Given that the article says this:

The dates apply to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC versions of the game. A PlayStation 4 version is confirmed, and Ubisoft says that version of Watch Dogs will be available "at the launch" of the console, whenever that might be.

Makes me think the PS4 version won't be available at launch, unless somehow the PS4 is released on the exact same day (or shortly before).

I actually like this game, because I live in Chicago. I literally know most of the places in the game that are similar to the actual city of Chicago. I didn't realize that the first time around that I saw the trailer, but I did take a more thorough look and then noticed it, I am probably getting it for the next Xbox and can't be more excited.

I think the PS4 will be released in November...Watch Dogs is a PS4 launch title so I'd say it's a good bet

Remains under question. Logically they ( Sony) will place PS4 release date close to Christmas to generate extra sales, and Ubisoft just said that it will be available at launch date of the PS4, so the PS4 version will appear on the shelves of the stores the same day PS4 will.
I wonder how much better the PS4 version will be then the current gen. Higher res. textures for sure, that it won't make a game look much better compared to the current gen, unless you look straight at the walls all the time, to see the amazing difference ( judging from PC high/maximum settings quality difference from current games like FC3, Crysis 3)

PS4 might not be a night/day difference compared to PS3 but it will definitely be better...DX11 will help...a current high end PC maxed out looks amazing compared to any console

At least they be in 1080p, now.. most PS3 games aren't even in 720p.. so can't be worst than that really.. and their upscaling just sucks ass..

I'm not holding out any hope for this game. Ubisoft's first installments of IPs are just what is shown in trailers, repeated over and over and over and over again. I'll wait for the inevitable Watch Dogs 2, which will probably get the same responses as Assassin's Creed II and Far Cry 3 got: "the game that [previous installment] should have been."

I just want the games to run smooth. I'm tired of screen tearing and fps drops.

"Assassin's Creed 2020 is more like it." some random comment on the trailer page but it seems accurate. I hope it is good but sure looks like a familiar game. Only thing that might help is a good story line. Which I doubt it has. Too much like sleeping dogs too. Which is a decent game albeit flawed.

Well, now that they have all the fancy x86 architecture, and bla bla bla, they have no excuse to make stuff like Bayonetta on PS3 ( the loadings, the lags, the loadings X_X)

Inside Watch Dogs: New details including next-gen wind, and how others players can infiltrate your single-player game

But as well as smart interactions with AI, Watch Dogs will also include opportunities for you to interact with other human players in your single-player game..."Say you're playing alone, free-roaming," Morin explained. "There's a bunch of activities you can activate. Sometimes - and you won't know when - the objective that you have is related to what someone else is doing at the same time...When that happens we merge your reality with the other person's, and you'll be able to see them."

Morin gave the example of a mission where you had to spy on another hacker - but that person was a real player carrying out an objective within their own game who had unknowingly become part of your city. Sometimes you will be told if another player will be watching you during these objectives. Sometimes you won't.

"In playtests right now, in the scenarios where we don't tell players [they're interacting with another human-controlled character], most say 'oh this is really cool, it feels like there really are other hackers out there. Then we tell them it really was other players. And they're like 'what?!' We can have fun with your perceptions."

now that sounds exciting!...reminds me of Dark Souls!

I'd bet any money the WiiU version will never see light of day or be spoken about again by Ubi

Which makes me wonder if we'll see a WiiU2 within a few years. They seem to be doing the less-powerful but more rapid approach to consoles. More sales that way of cheaper units.
