Warhammer Online Thread!

You got mad because you lost a staff? I'd probably keep rolling just to see how pissed I could get you maybe just maybe we'll all get lucky and mommy and daddy will hear your temper tantrum and ground you from the computer and games for life and enroll you in an anger management program.

Oh noez my mom will come visit me and groud me !11!
You're seriously over-reacting to the situation ... but this is funnay so please keep going !

Btw I'm not like yelling in the basement and throwing stuff around, I'm cussing at the guy.

Let me give you a "real-life" experience of the same thing that pisses me off :

You're at hmm... let's say a golf tournament for work and there's prizes.
One of that prize is a nice, sexy, bbq.

Now, you've got 2 fat fucks who just bought, a week ago, a brand new, sexy bbq.
They hit the jackpot and WIN that said bbq.
But... instead of saying, geez, I don't really need that, these are all my co-workers, just put the prize back in the bag so some people who actually need it could win it, you know?

Nah... people don't do that, people are selfish. Doesn't matter if it's a game or if it's real-life the situation remains the SAME.

So yeah, give me a break about how I got angry at a game (fuck I'm still having fun otherwise I wouldn't have bought it) but sometimes just blowing off some fucking steam after a day at work, at some little kid who doesn't know jack shit about life can be rather entertaining and releiving.

See my point?
Probably not but I don't care.

your example is still pointless, if they won that BBQ there not obligated to give it away. I wouldn't, I would sell it instead and make some cash from MY PRIZE that I won.

Same thing goes for itmes in MMO's, unless the item is BOP then its fair game to be rolled on, and when your in a PUG group if you really expect everyone to play fair and only roll on thigns they truly need then your living in a dream my friend

Wow... you're the perfect exemple of what's wrong in today's society!
But that's fine, maybe I'm just more of the type " fair and equal" ... maybe I'm Canadian and you're from the US?
That would explain alot as well...

But yeah, it's fine, don't share, keep stuff you don't need and be greedy lol...

Thats half the fun of loot in MMORPG. Im always NBG, but if its up for a roll, and i win, damn straight im keeping it. I hate how all these MMORPGS are making it so you only loot items related to your character. In EQ it was awesome to look a 1 in 35000 drop that you couldnt use and be able to make absolute bank on it. Or sell it to someone for 200$.

Of course this led to camping and other, but that was part of the fun imo.

hey hey now! I'm canadian to and havent rolled need on equipment I dont need, but like I said I never expect good loot unless im in an organized group or a pug with pre-discussed rolling.

As for the BBQ example, if I win something then I belive I have a right to it. And I choose to sell it thats my right to do so, as I could use that money to then buy food, gas or stuff for my kid and wife, and I value my family over strangers/co-workers as everyone should.

At the end of the day you're still throwing a temper tantrum over a VIDEO GAME. There are more important things than a virtual magical staff and your INT skill. MMO environments would be a much better place if people weren't assholes all around. Is the "obnoxious little kid" wrong? Yeah, but nothing is accomplished by you just being an immature dick. Is it really that important? Be the bigger person and let it go.

The types of people who "let it go" at every problem in their life are typically pushovers and are always stuck doing what other people want them to do. That's a really poor attitude to have in life.

"Oh if shit happens, oh well, I'll just let this guy keep kicking me in the balls even though it hurts"

Man launch is sneaking up fast. I've only logged in a couple times since it went open beta and by this Sunday the game will be live. I guess that's all for the better though, since I didn't want to invest much time in a character that will be wiped. Hopefully I can get my sorceress up to level 10 this weekend so I can compare it to With Elf, Chosen and Zealot which are all possibilities for my main. Leaning towards Chosen at the moment though.

Yeah the equipment stuff where people constantly need on everything gets a little old, kinda gets to the point where you have to bring yourself to need on everything just so you end up with something at the end of the day. It'd be nice if they would need on things they NEED, and greed on others but there's a handful of people out there who NEED everything and they will claim it's for salvaging or whatever. I just learn when someone needs on everything, I need against em...that way they get less and other people are more likely to need as well and we go back to a fair loot system where you rarely get anything you NEED but you get stuff nonetheless.

Now here's a funny thing thing about warhammer, the broken stuff that can be repaired...it shows up as a green item to everyone in the group as something they can use. Might look like an axe to me, but will be a staff to someone else, and a sword to another. I had some dude in a group lose his shit over this even after it was explained to him because while it was an upgrade for everyone, he felt it was the biggest upgrade for him (of course). Then, keeping in mind he was a squig herder, he had lost his shit about 2 minutes before that over a shield that he thought he could use. I've never seen the ability to learn shields on my squig herder or automagically gotten it and my dude was higher than his, I told him so. But he kept on about how spears are 1h, and he COULD use a shield because the guards wear shields or some such. Basically it boils down to that the people who need on everything or feel they need absolutely every item for their char, possibilities in the future, alts, etc...these people just suck and it gets old. Part of the reason why guilds exist, so you can at least have some reasonable assurance that the guy isn't a total tool because he's in your guild.

But I have to say, so far I don't like the loot system in scenarios because if you end up in a small group you end up with stuff you can't use or nothing at all. And if you're in a big group the people need on everything, it's like the healer I had who wouldn't heal me and also kept needing on all the health potions that dropped. Wee! Really I'd prefer a round robin loot system in the scenarios, so there is no decision to be made, you get what you get and people can try to deal with you after the scenarios to get some specific item.

This isn't real life, it's a video game. Once again it's just a bunch of 1's and 0's. Being a shitdick only breeds others to be a shitdick. What did the OP accomplish for standing up for himself other than being a dick for a bunch of pixels? Nothing. Get over yourselves, you don't need to 'represent' in a game. It's this moronic, immature pissing contest that gives online gaming a bad name.

Yes, because after getting yelled at on the internet in a video game by someone I have no accountability to really made me change my mind and turn my life around.

It is a video game that thousands of others will be playing, others who do not share the same morals or values you or I do. Things will happen beyond our control and there is no need to get upset over it or start cussing out some random stranger because he made a mistake, accidentally rolled on something he couldn't use, or is a noob and just doesn't know better.

Calmly send the character a tell explaining that you could use said loot and if it drops next time if he could refrain or there is a myriad other options open that one could use so as not to be a dick. If the loot whoring continues ask the leader to drop the whore from said group or you could leave and continue looking for other players who share the same opinions you do.

It is quite simple. However, if you want to be an asshat about it then by all means that is also your option to do so. Just know that if you're in my group I'll either kick your ass out so fast or let you ridicule yourself a bit then kick you and make sure I never group with you again.

Well just tested the revised texture patch and I can say it's working a lot better than before for me. Kudos to Mythic for getting it fixed during crunch time. I was also finally able to get AA/AF working on my ATI card so now with the texture fix the game looks a helluva lot better than before. It's not going to win any awards for graphics but the jaggies were killing me.

Are you on Vista? Because there is no EAX in Vista, though you can likely fake it through Alchemy.

I am having success with the following alchemy settings on my X-Fi XtremeGamer under Vista 64:

Use Game Path: YOURWARDIRECTORY

Settings:
Buffers 6
Duration 18
Maximum Voice Count 128

LMFAO

What a total and utter joke, GoA the european partner completely fucked up the EU's open beta access where most people waited 48+ hours for access, and then they go and make the exact same mistake again and have the validation done on the same day as launch for the early access codes.

Did these people learn nothing from their first mistake, it's beyond belief it really is, how can a group of people collectively come to the decision that this was a good idea?

Really truly astonished by all this, looks like we'll probably lose a chunk of our early access time to these idiots.

Really not sure why Mythic went with these peeps again after how terrible they were supposedly with DAoC. These dudes must've dropped a lot of cash to get the rights to publish/handle WAR over in Europe. 6 months ago I would've had to play the EU client but I'm in the States now where the game works like it's supposed to for the most part. :D

I have to say, for the open beta after having played it now, I've very surprised.

Before I thought this would be another usual mmo, lv grind grind grind, get more loot, grind grind grind, with pvp on the side of PVE.

However after playing it, I can't wait until release.

I am a huge pvp fan, and this is one of the most enjoyable pvp games I've played since the UO days.

The bolstering system helps people pvp from lv 1-40, you don't have to make a mad rush to end lv to pvp.

Also with the objectives it gives reasons for teh RVR, not just simple "kill for the sake of killing" like in say WoW or other mmo's.

I love how you gain both exp/money and gear through just rvr, I played about 60% of the beta just RVR'ing the hell out of Nordland, Scenarios, etc and it was a blast to know that it actually had a rhyme and reason behind it and I was still building my gear/gaining things instead of having to focus on PVE to do it.

I even got some good loot that wasn't worthless in regards to PVE gear, a nice Blue staff dropped for me last night, and earlier today some good armour that was better then the PVE armour I was still wearing.

Well, I was doing pretty good the other day running this game. And yesterday/today the game went back to running bad for me and I don't know what to change to make it run like it used to...I've messed with it and improved it but it gets stuttery eventually, causes the machine to lock up or just doesn't want to exit once I exit. It stays up on the screen and I can get task manager up but I can't see it, can move the mouse around and see it changes it's cursor where the task manager is..etc. No idea, I'm beginning to wonder if my ram has some sort of small defect in it that this game is just pegging constantly, I ran 10+ hours of memtest and nothing came back.

The population seems to have dropped considerably on the servers in the last couple days, haven't seen a "high" population server yet, the ones that were high are now low-med, or constant med. Had to wait an hour or so to get into scenarios, but so many servers were showing low/low I figured it was broken. What scenarios I did play, usually got steamrolled because Im guessing they were as inexperienced as I was with them.

I ran into a lot of people who would run constantly from enemies in scenarios, or healers who'd fight next to me for 2-3 minutes and never heal me once...........or people who would constantly attack tanks (waste of effort if they have a healer, impossible if they have two).... You know WHY you keep losing when you see this stuff, but no one ever seems to change their methods and frustration sets in firmly.

So, Im going to see if I can figure out the problems with this game and my machine during headstart...and if I can't get it figured out then Im not going to be playing. Just too irritating to have to keep exiting the game so I can run down the road without hitching constantly. And if I can by some miracle figure out the problem, then I hope to god I find some server where the people aren't afraid to fight when they join scenarios...

Got 7 free days in the EU now for the GoA server messing about during open beta, apparantly role out of keys tonight has been a bit shakey but working OK, I hope the SE keys on monday are alright otherwise we could lose a whole bunch of early access days to waiting for keys.

This game is a lot of fun if you're into the whole large scale fighting thing, I loved planeside for RvR type battles, and loved WoW for its PvE and lore/story, WAR is a perfect mix of these things IMO.

Thats the problem of playing with PUGs, I hope once the game goes live I can find a good guild to do PQs/RvR with.

Playing as a healer, I see the same problem but in reverse. Doing PUG scenarios, too many tanks would get tunnel vision and just charge into a group of enemies and there is no point trying to keep him up. Or they ignore the iron breaker kicking the crap outta me and charge blindly towards the other side of the map. Those guys don't get any heals! :p

Yeah, I've been on both ends of it as a healer and tank. Saw some really stupid tanks, who I'd be the only guy healing him but he wouldn't try to help me one bit so I gotta go into mega heal mode on myself and we both end up dieing. Then saw healers who would only heal people in their party (and I would end up on parties with no healers), or would only heal themselves and you only got healed if they happened to do a group heal (assuming I was in their group). The melee healers from my experience seem to be the worst about this, only heal themselves.

I tried a variety of healers, shaman, zealot, DoK, Archmage, Warrior priest...I prefer Destruction and out of those 3 zealot was by far the easiest to survive with. Didn't have to worry about charging up gork/mork to do damage or heal better, and you get a lot of instant cast heals so you run around all crazy so it's hard for them to get you targeted and get to you through the crowd. Found myself relying pretty much solely on instant cast DPS and heals, and playing a shaman after that really bugged me. Plus being able to move around and heal like crazy makes it easier to target your teammates for heals in the crowd.

One thing I did notice as my healer, more often than not someone would have 25% health and then just die even though I could see clearly I was healing them..and their health didn't visibly change (up or down) but they'd just drop dead. So I dunno if that's lag or the enemy saving up their uber attacks to smash em dead quick.

With limited time left in the Open Beta, I really can not decide which class to play. I am sticking with tanks, and everything is just too fun. I've ruled out the Ironbreaker just because I hate Dwarves, other than that its a toss up between Swordmaster/Chaos Chosen/Black Orc :D

Played chosen and black orc...sword master a little. I prefer black orc hands down, got one to 15. I took out an ironbreaker that was 17 twice, only time he killed me was when he had 3 friends, and his 3 friends died before I did. Just gotta watch they don't knock you back into their guards, he kept trying to do that to me.

Was just playing him about an hour ago, was fighting a champion two levels above me, someone 1 level above me..think it was a witch hunter jumped me from stealth...I killed the witch hunter and went back to my champion...had more health after fight than I started with.

Then had a shadow warrior that was 2 levels above me try to kill me, ran around a big rock and jumped up on top of it. The guy ran around the rock expecting to see me running a straight line on the other side, and I jumped down on top of him snared him and beat him to death...lost maybe 500 health if that. Was funny because I was flagged due to some quest, and was doing PVE stuff when these two guys tried to kill me. The ironbreaker and his buddies up top were in some RVR zone where I couldn't find the chest the quest wanted and was just running circles over and over trying to find it when they kept attacking me.

Won't be getting this game but only because my game time is limited to couple fps non-mmo's atm, but I can highly recommend this to friends. Played a Marauder to level 16 and a Swordmaster to level 12 doing mostly RvR and Scenario pvp with a little Public quests to get the rewards.
Everything seems to be covered already from previous so I'll just say my other thoughts:

Itemization is really well done. The game really helps draw a player in psychologically to get that "need to improve my character" feel to it. I was level 2 and got 2 level blue items.

The items from Public quests that are elite are really nice and I didn't feel I had to grind for it.

The RvR really starts to shine in Ostland the 2nd tier area from level 12-21. Never had this much fun since the Southshore WoW pvp days. I love the little siege weapon features like the cauldron of oil and being able to man a cannon and use aim sighting.

What I like about the scenario is that they change it up depending on realm. For example the High Elves vs Chaos Elves has the cool Capture the flag with a explosion twist to it which makes it more interesting and fresh.

Crafting was well done. I leveled an Apothecary and Cultivation to around 50. I like that in crafting mats for from cultivating you can't just mouse click. You have add ingredients like soil and water in an allotted time frame.

Negatives:
As polished as it is seems there can be still be more improvement with making the movements more fluid to iron out that "clunky" feeling to it.

Game needs alot more optimization but I know its not finalized of course, it slowed down to near 11fps in certain parts of the map but would jump up again during RvR. Every time I crossed a zone area during RvR pvp it would do this.

This is all limited up to what I was able to play. Remains to be seen about endgame pve which is important but not a gamebreaker. I think if you love Group/Massive PvP first and PvE second this game is a must buy.

Scenario Flag Exploding after it gets capped: Anyone caught in the blast radius dies instantly.

Defending Castle and using the Cauldron of Oil killed 10+ players.

Did you seriously just upload a high-resolution bitmap picture when even MS Paint these days can convert a picture to JPEG?

Did you seriously just upload a high-resolution bitmap picture when even MS Paint these days can convert a picture to JPEG?

JPEG kills the resolution and makes screenshots look like crap. Besides, most of us have broadband anyways.

Get a better isp ? Were they 100MB downloads or something I didn't check cuz I got 1 fast internetz? Crymore?

I'll tell you what. I'll take the "Get a better ISP" response under advisement. If they decide to offer a faster ISP out here in my deployed location in Kosovo, I'll use it. Until then I'll take what I can get, and you still fail for using a bitmap image on the internet.

Deal with it?

Anyway, back on topic...I was watching a gameplay trailer on gametrailers.com and I gotta say...it kinda curbed my enthusiasm some. The gameplay seems so slow. I'll still give it a shot when I get back to the states though, since I've definitely been interested in this MMO for a while now.

Due to popular demand and at the risk of clogging the intertubes heres 1 more. Enjoy.
