the only problem with that would be that with the new map not much would be happening on the map we have. It wouldn't be a reason to have it. I'm not understanding why we can't keep the map as a sub map.

because multiple maps isn't part of the game, it's a plugin that is what caused the nether to stop working along with several other bugs that haven't been fixed yet.

The point of creating a new map is only in part 1.8, there are some bugs and things wrong with our current setup and starting over will clean a lot of needed stuff out.

because we started small and had to work our way up to where we are now, things had to be done the way they were to adapt.

It's just an option, I know some players will want to stay on the old map which is why I offered to keep it hosted. By doing this no one is forcing anyone to choose either option really. It is one of the downsides to playing a game before it's final, he adds content that can't well established server won't get to enjoy because of some things.

Im also down for no Ops. Bring way too many problem ;).

Will we use warps ?

One thing ive wanted for ages in minecraft is cross server portals. One where you could jump from world to world on different servers. It would mean people could have their home servers and truley epic sized worlds could be made :D

There is a plugin that will do that.

Thats kind of the thing I meant :D Would be good if you had some kind of popetual profile (or materials). But with the bugs and exploits still being rampant that probably isn't feasible. Would change the game from small clusters of 1-10 people in small countries into a more giant multiplayer universe. Maybe will the full release...

I've been crawling the mod list a bit so I'll throw a few out there:

A variant(?) of the repair mod:

http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/me...ls-and-armor-using-a-crafting-grid-953.21453/

Code:
# Enter tools and armor in the form of "[tool/armor item]: [item to repair it with] [number of items needed for repair]"
# This line allows you to repair an iron sword using 1 iron ingot.
ironsword: iron 1

# This line allows you to repair an iron pickaxe using 1 diamond.
ironpickaxe: diamond 1

# This line allows you to repair a diamond pickaxe using 2 diamonds.
diamondpickaxe: diamond 2

This allows you to fall between worlds, eg SkyCraft to HardCraft:

Teleport using your torrents :)

Stackable anythings!

Sponges for easy (easier) water engineering:

See plugins are nice, but it seems like they are, in general more trouble than they are often worth. I mean, the simple ones that don't affect the actual game, like a permissions mod, are ok. But once you start stacking mods on mods, it gets silly, and seems to break the stability of the game.

IF it were up to me, and I recognize it's not, I'd have a permissions mod of some kind (password, whitelist or whatever) and a teleport mod (with limited slots per player). That's it.

I pretty much agree with this. The elevator mod is the first one I've every really "relied" on, and even that I'm considering removing from my build. The repair mod I really like too. But all the others I could do with out.

The repair mod and pailstone would be good enough for me. I loved not having to run 9000 miles of redstone to do things or remoting out functions for areas I didn't have the room to build full circuits.

dgerry, make sure your mushroom farm is working correctly. I kind of mine into it and broke something. I think I fixed it though with deathprincess help.

No, in-fact you completely walled off where the water comes from. If you didn't modify any of the blocks behind that cobblestone wall you put up then I should just be able to tear it down and it's fine.

Edit: Nope, apparently you've claimed that entire area underground. Thanks for letting me know I guess? I think it works alright(the water is routed differently), and the other larger one I made pretty much replaced it, so it doesn't matter either way.

ya i rerouted the water because it wasnt working anymore, it should be working unless there is a special way mushroom grow

I think it's fine, the only thing "special" about the mushrooms is just the parts of the farm that stick above where the water goes, mushrooms grow on there and don't get flooded off. Other than that I think it still works? Like I said it doesn't really matter either way because of the bigger one I have on top of my grinder now.

On that note, be careful where you dig down there because your storage room there is only a few blocks away from my grinder.

i think your grinder is to the left of the storage room.

if you go to the left of the storage room, you can hear all those creeper sounds.

below the storage room is some natural cave i think.

Yup. On the dynamic map, directly south of the storage room is the top level of the grinder. Below it is natural caves, possibly explored by me at some point but I'm not sure because I haven't done a lot of digging down there except to excavate for things I was building. Just wanted to make sure you knew and didn't think "Oh I hear monsters, maybe there's a dungeon" :D lol

The one I don't really like is Minecart Mania because of how easy it makes crop and wood farming really gamebreaking IMHO, although the ability to stack previously unstackable items is very useful. The bonemeal mod is iffy.

Notice I didn't include any of the 'pistons crush/stack' stone mods. ;)

Most of the other mods are useful without being powerful enough to be gamebreaking, and many people use them (especially locking chests/doors). We really don't have a ton of mods running that greatly change gameplay.

How does it make it gamebreaking? I don't see how it even makes it easier.

at last we will be able to make skyscraper ... those in our city are ... too small!

im so excited for 1.8! lets hope its not too buggy... *ahem*

Yea, with 512 blocks to work with, you could do scale -models of real buildings relatively easily. I wonder if they will raise the level of the clouds, and increase the max view distance. Tall buildings would be nice, but not if you cannot see the ground...

Automatic harvesting, tilling and replanting obviates hoes and axes, and also eliminates the need to engineer cactus and cane farms (aside from laying some rail and a few signs.)

It used to take about an hour of my time to prune, chop and replant a tree farm. Now I flip a switch and wait 30 seconds and I have a box full of wood, apples and cocoa.

And we used to have a hunt and kill animals for food. Now we have engineered convenience.

That was meant to refer to real life... but it hilariously applies to minecraft, too.

Wait...what? How does that work? I need details!

lol

Why anyone would want to keep the old world after seeing that screenshot is beyond me!

That would be awesome!!! There'd be a real sense of danger in those buildings. I can't wait to be able to build a whole "city" of floating islands completely unseen by the human eye! That would be AWESOME!

Trees

Code:
# sign
T tree
= rail

1 2 T T T T 3
=============

Signs

1:

[range: 5]
[item range: 5]
[max speed: 80]

range/item range both default to 5 and aren't necessary unless you want a different number
max speed is a percent (I think)

2:

[AutoForest]
[AutoTimber]

3:

[Forest Off]
[Timber Off]

Put some saplings in a storage cart and run it along the track. AutoForest tells the cart to harvest wood, AutoTimber tells it to replant (there must be saplings in the storage cart.)

There are different signs for cane, cactus and wheat, as well as commands to deposit things in chests or take them out, which you'd want to do to keep a certain number of saplings in your storage cart.

You can also fill smelters, take smelted items out and even combine ingots into blocks.

[edit] Warp to obstacle and look in one of the buildings for g1's farm. It's probably the easiest place to start.

I think I might give in and automate my tree farm... Maybe I should expand it then too... One pass through it right now gets me exactly 1 stack of wood.

Egg, could you help me out when I'm ready? :)

No problem! And I'm always willing to trade wood 1:1 with sand if you don't want the hassle of hands free tree farming. :p

I'm not actually going to build anything out of wood. I just thought it would be neat to do. haha.

It sounds like there might be some serious trade-offs with increasing the world height. For example, going from 128 to 256 would essentially double the amount of bandwidth and ram each user requires in SMP. Going to 512 would, presumably, quadruple it. If the server can currently handle 20 people, then with a 512 build limit we'd be looking at...5 people? :/

I don't know what everyone has against wood. Aside from Corsair, I'd imagine I have one of the few if only wood houses.

Then again, I'm probably gonna burn it down later this week...

Proxy plugin reduces bandwidth, and ram is at an all time low :-p
