Can anyone say MEGA community project?

All of a sudden I want to re-do the Parthenon....but MASSIVE. :)

My little hideway north of The City is made of wood. I have nothing against it, but building my lair left me with an excess of stone... so I build with that. :D

Well that's good to hear :) I honestly don't know how much each client takes up in terms of bandwidth/memory, I was just pointing out that it's not just the world file size that would go up. If you say the server can handle it, then great :D

The only thing I'm not sure of is; Would it be 60ish blocks from bedrock to sea level, and then 448 or whatever to the build limit? Or 256 above and 256 below sea level? Maybe you can control where sea level is? lol who knows, need more details :D

Actually, reading Notch's tweets makes me think it's not been modified / increased at all. All he mentions is that the ceiling height is now controlled by one variable in the code. But that the default will be 128. So maybe when creating the world we can increase the ceiling height....

The facebook post said that the world generator doesn't work well at 512 height... so it sounds like he tried to expand the height and not so good outcome.

Yes, that's what I read as well. It can be increased if you increase it, but who knows if you'd need a mod or if it would be easy to change on your own.

Yeah I saw that as well, and I didn't know if that meant he was working on it or he had tried it and it wasn't going to work haha...I guess we'll see soon enough.
 
Just setup my automatic wheat farm, using my existing wheat farm. Took a lil trial/error but got it.

What sucks is, its harder to come by grass seeds now, you cant just till grass, hafta till tall grass and it doesnt always give you seeds... grrrrrrrrrr

If you partially plant a wheat field it will spread over time as the cart harvests and replants.
 
I never get any extra seeds in the cart for some reason. Perhaps they're converted to mystery saplings. :)
 
g1 you know the tree farm minecart thing? Does it have weird icons for some of the saplings? When my birch farm is farming along nicely, when I stop the cart it always seems to have non birch saplings in the chest. But all it ever plants is birches (and thats all there were to start with) it only deposits birch saplings too.

Soon she will have even more little minions running around on the server.
 
Yeah the wheat seems to drop 1-2 seeds now, which is good. So i just ran up/down my aisles and used bone meal to make em grow, now its doing its own thing. I left it running so its probably full now, same for trees. That fills up fast and generates faster then wheat

maybe it is to prevent mining, maybe add another rule that will dump remaining items out of the chest before getting the shaplings to plant?
 
Just as a heads up:

A. We may have a newbie joining us soon, I've known this guy personally for almost twenty years now, so I can vouch for him. He'll say he knows me, so this is verification.

B. A creeper apparently attempted to pull a bank robbery on the Corsair Bank and blew open a hole in the front wall, I patched what I could, but it needs some new fence posts and benches. I left the signs I was able to recover out front.

I'm unable to even remote into the server. My guess is either hardware or power failure.

well according to the Hardforum stats i'm a noobie. But far from a noobie. I just sit back on the side quietly and read. Didn't really ever have a reason to make a post until this morning. The server going down was well worth my post because I just got off work, and
wanted to work on my farm. (which is now all cleared out) plus my net was down when I got home, got it back on, come here seen that you said Illustrial said it was down there, that meant she was off, I text her, 1 thing lead to another, and we got the server back up without having to wait until you got home. Thank you very much :p

Haha. Join the club. The big unfinished levelled out circle in the desert on main HardCraft map is mine :p Took so long to level that out, even with EReading, dudewth, and Arr4ws helping.

Yea, I know what you mean. On [H]ashmang's server, I had a circular arena that was 65 blocks in diameter. It was a cylinder. About 1/3 was over land, the rest was over water in this cool bay. THe one thing I learned there was that building over the water was really the way to go. Fewer mobs, if you fell you didn't die, and no need to level the ground. The drawback, of course, was you sometimes had to walk a way for supplies. SO I built a house nearby as an entrance for my mine. Once I got the logistics down, it really was the way to go.

Wow. Looks awesome!

But damn, with absolutely no word on when 1.8 will come out, it's hard to just "wait".
