The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

generally the game scales with you. PT2 is more, badder versions of the PT1 monsters. It depends on how you play it. If you do side missions to level up then the main campaign is manageable, otherwise they will be "tough"

Well, from what I hear, everything pretty much scales exponentially, so I imagine enemies are relatively tougher and do more damage compared to PT1.

Also, a lot of people are skipping the optional item reward quests in PT2 because you can't go back and do them in PT2.5, and the items scale to your current level. So everyone wants to hit 50, then go back and accept all the side quests to get level 50 versions of the quest rewards.

Even if you're playing as if it were 4 person co-op? Surely the drops must be better. Right now my sniper rifle has 2k damage.

i have killed both the warrior and terramorphous several times now in groups of 2-4. his stuff isn't necessarily great although there are a few blue/purple things - that you may already have better of. he seems to almost always drop a single orange the a decent character mod.

Once you find the legendary shield "the bee", your damage output goes through the roof and you can solo terramorphous fairly quickly. a group of 4 people with the bee and it goes down in under a minute.

Am I alone in saying that this one is actually better than the 1st one? That's rare in games.

Err, no, it's pretty much known this is way better than the first one.

I think they are going to nerf the crap out of the bee, seeing a 4man terra go down in under a minute because of one guy, a shot gun, and a bee is just ridiculous.

I think i liked the weapons and skill trees of the first one better. I still enjoyed the hell out of this one.

definitely liked the skill tree in the first one a lot better. least with the siren, in 2, the tree just seems all over the place and none of the trees seems overly interesting.

do I need to enable FXAA in both the Nvidia Control Panel and the in-game graphics settings to get it to work properly?...or is the Control Panel setting only to force FXAA on for games that don't have official support?...if I have it enabled via the graphics settings and disabled in the Control Panel what happens?

The in-game option works fine...

I use in-game FXAA + SMAA injector and it looks awesome.

The driver FXAA is to force it in games that don't natively support it. Same with all the other AA settings in the driver...

no and why would they? if FXAA is in a game then use it from there just like any other setting.

I think I'm overcomplicating things...usually the Nvidia Control Panel settings override the in-game settings so that's why I was wondering if having FXAA disabled in the Control Panel and enabled through the in-game settings would render it disabled in reality

always just use the settings that are offered in the game when possible. but yeah I see how it can be confusing now because some settings in the cp say "application controlled" and some say "off".

yes exactly...in the Control Panel the FXAA setting has no 'Application controlled' option...only Off or On

unless something has gone wrong you should have 3 options. global default off, forced off, or forced on. when in doubt just reset to default. this is global fxaa, not the same as engine based selective fxaa. the one in the game is way more efficient and only process textures, where the driver based one would just do the whole frame, that's when you get blurry text/ui/etc.

nothing has "gone wrong" as plenty of settings in the CP just say on or off. and off is default for FXAA.

Weird, I can't even open up Borderlands 2 anymore. Says "Completing installation....1%" and then "The steam servers are too busy to handle your request for Borderlands 2. Error Code (55)".

I have tried their suggestion to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

i think i like the second one better because the terrain is more diverse without so much "dust and brown"

I'm also playing as siren and played the first as Roland. I always play run/gun type characters and like Siren's skill in BL2..mixed it up a bit for me.

yes things have gone terribly wrong, when you are messing with global settings just to tweak one game. this is why you only see on/off, while app profiles always have 3 options default/on/off, default off is not the same as forced off.

the real problem here is nvcp just sucks balls tbh, and makes it harder for people to figure out wtf they're even looking at. use a real driver app profiler like nvidia inspector or something.

only took 30 mins to farm the lv27 bee shield. with my class mod my shield can only soak up about 600pts of damage now though :(

free amp damage is pretty sick

The terrain and area aesthetics are definitely better in this. But the content in the first was far more enjoyable. This second one feels desolate in comparison. I used to spend hours in each area doing job after job, visiting its instances or arenas and such. In B2 you're out almost as soon as you're in, and on to the next.

Just played 5 hours yesterday. I usually play only on Saturday but could not resist to play yesterday. Good game :)

Tundra Express is place to loot. Those mutating bugs when mutated 2 times drops so much goodies like this mineral needed for black market and tons of green and some times blue weapons. And there are plenty of those bugs. I sometimes think there is a bit too much loot :)

I , by accident, sold my Burning infinity pistol with scope, infinite ammo, no need to reload and it was burning people alive :( But I found an expensive burning sniper rifle without that infamous burst shots. It uses 1 bullet per shot and when guys shot in the head they do not die immediatelly but rather they burn alive to death :)

Also I upgraded my grenades to some ridiculous power. Basically, to clean the room full of enemies it is enough to lob there 3 grenades that jump around, then clone themselves into 9 grenades each with enormous explosion power.

For example I eliminated mutant ninja side quest with just 3 grenades. I didn't even have a chance to look at these guys alive.

Also I got this AI Shotgun when I brought the AI module to Marcus. It is talking shotgun that gets more accurate while you are shooting non stop. It is pretty powerful and it talks :)

Also, I got very expensive green SMG for my level - it was like 1300 if I want to sell it. But my pistols with resale value of 400 are much better killing things around. I mean 400<1300 but 400>1300 in killing power. Strange. I guess price is not a factor to decide on the gun.

And now I feel stupid. Grown up 39 years old well paid manager in a big company talking about getting in game guns like it is something really important :)

this error 55 happened to me with CS:GO and to fix it I had to opt out of steam beta.

that's about how long it took me to farm it in pt 2.5. It really is OP but it does have drawbacks - it takes awhile to charge back up if you get hit and you have no bonuses if it is down even 1 point.. It also isn't a very high number on the shield. You are far from invincible. More like a glass cannon. I've seen crits as high as 3 million when I was able to use all bonuses (such as GZ's last bullet and swap weapon damage). Using a legendary sniper rifle called skullsmasher that shoots 5 tightly grouped chunks of lead per shot.

where do you farm the bee shield?

was going to tell you how but someone posted a link to it already.

No need to feel any shame in feeling enthusiastic about something, friend. Besides, like I've already mentioned in this thread, this is the first game to really tweak my nips since The Witcher 2. Everything else has just been a distraction up to now. It's a good piece of work and easy to get excited about.

Hey I'm 48 and I know exactly how you feel.:D

Oh I feel young again at a mere 38. Also way too excited about virtual loot. This game is brilliant and completely addictive. Back to the game...

Does anyone know if the single player co-op tweak (that allows for single player to be played as 4 players was joined) is easy to remove or leave BL2 installation a mess? I am debating some farming using this tweak myself.

Just an FYI, you can buy back weapons you sell, as long as you are in the same session and haven't sold too many items since. I'm not sure how many items stay in the buyback at one time, but it's quite a few.

the tweak has nothing to do with the actual BL2 install. You install it wherever you want, run it, start BL2, go in game, alt tab to the app, tell it to scan, then set players to 2. To delete it, just delete whatever folder you extracted the files to.

Here's a mission related question.
I recently (no spoiler) completed the mission where the world changes a little bit as part of the Sanctuary storyline involving the train.
However as I was finishing up the final step of that mission, I saw 2 exclamation points show up for side quests, literally as I was clicking to finish that mission.

Will I ever get the chance to do those quests or did I just miss out?

Price seems to be more influenced by rarity (color) rather than actual specs. So a lot of the time a crappy green will be "worth" more than a really good white.

It's hard to even say what influences the rarity. I've gotten quite a few purples that are not even as good as the greens or blues I am currently using. Even the one orange I found (The Cradle shield) was crappy in terms of capacity even when I first found it (like, half the capacity of my current at the time). Used it for a bit for the novelty of it (maybe it has low capacity so you get the "effect" happening a lot, who knows) but quickly moved on. Same with the Flame of the Firehawk shield. It seems it's only really worthwhile to farm oranges at level 50.

I tried this and it works, but damm it's harder. Maybe because I tried it on my first play through of Opportunity. I beat it but I died enough times and had to purchase enough ammo that I went from 80K to 35K of money. I didn't get any purple or orange drops. Was it worth it?

maybe i'll try it on 2 players...

I've been using it on 4. I like it.
