The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

so last night i was playing with physx. i have an amd card but set it on high anyways for the first time. and for people that haven't been gibbing mobs they must not be using physx like i was. bandits were exploding when i turned on physx.

it works but does anyone notice that i pick up all ammo all the time even if my inventory says i'm full?

In team games ammo gets shared to the teammates. If you are making the game think team mates exist it may be trying to share the ammo lol.

Actually even if you are both full on ammo you will still pick it up in co-op. Either a bug or just weird game mechanics.

If you do too many side quests you are too over leveled for the main missions.

Just saying ;)

But then you'll be ready for PT2. ;)

You don't want to even accept any side missions in PT2 where you get a special gun, because it will be leveled to your character at the moment and you can't re-do them in PT2.5. So it's best to just do the story mission and nothing else apparently.

Why people need those gold keys? I found plenty of good weapons without it. Like burning pistol with infinite ammo and no need to reload.

BTW, I just encountered first robots. How far in the game am I? Is it middle game? I played like 30 hours already.

One, you aren't very far into the main quest. Two, all of your good weapons are going to be crap in 3-5 levels and you are going to be praying for something better. The difficulty really starts ramping up quickly during the main quest. I've gotten to points where I have to open my game up to multiplayer to progress until I finally got another great weapon. This is where the keys come in handy. You are guaranteed a purple of your level. It may not be something awesome but there is a good chance it will be a nice upgrade over what you already have.

Also, the weapons moxxi gives your for tipping her are awesome. her good touch/bad touch will last you a few levels when you get them. First one cost me `7k, next was 35-40k

Anyone know if you can get more than 2 by tipping?

Side quests seem at the level that you are at when you ACCEPT them. I found not to accept every quest i come across right away during play through two so I don't end of with a bunch of trivial quests to complete. When I come back and accept them they will be level appropriate.

If I understand what you're saying. I don't believe this is true. I have plenty of low level quests that I haven't accepted.

Anyone else having/had a hard time with the Arms dealing side mission you do for Zed? I hate timed missions.

Open the first mailbox, but dont grab the arm. Head south and pick up the other four. The timer doesnt start until you pick up the first arm, not when you open the mailbox.

So after like 30 hours, I finally saw Michael Maramil...on PC! He does exist!

And he gave me...a mediocre blue sniper rifle. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. :)

lol @ these simple exploits... makes me feel like a dumbass for failing twice in a row, didn't complete it till the 3rd try with just 20 seconds left on the clock. doing it the intended way just means you have to know where you're going, preferably after you've done other missions and cleared the mobs already.

quest level is relative to your char when you turned in the previous main missions that made them available, not when you accept them. some of them are just going to be trivial and low level no matter what, just the way missions were balanced so that we have some fun breaks in the story.

and how are people having so much trouble finding decent gear? I don't get it, unless you're just running through all the missions doing nothing but killing what's in your way. if you take a second to look around, every region has at least 1 or 3 or 5 weapon chests that almost always net you something worth keeping, not to mention all the drops that are constantly flowing through your kills.

the keys are worthless tbh, nothing is gained by using them at high levels, and it's a detriment to low level players by giving us such absurdly op guns so early in the game. everything else compared to those were just crap, for the next 10 levels while I ran around one-shotting and wtfpwning all mobs with no effort.

even now at level 30 when they've long since been sold or put in storage, my entire loadout still just completely owns any mobs that are unlucky enough to spawn. I found this blue 600 damage jakobs revolver today that I just started using to walk around 2 shotting everything in the face, it's crazy. my siren is such a tank at this point (5 ward + 3 guarded ward mod = 8 ward points!!) that I don't even need to use cover, just walk around spamming phaselock on anything remotely dangerous.

moxxi has an endless supply of pistol and smg btw, you can just keep spamming her with $100 tips until she puts out, about every $10k or so. I know this works yet I have no use for it, so I've just been dropping $100 every time I stop by her place, not even keeping count until I get lucky one of these days.

I bought Borderlands 2 today and I've never had a worse headache.Something about it hurts my head and eyes so badly that even after only playing for an hour or two I feel nauseous. What tweaks are you'll using with this game? Anything to keep me from fainting while playing? I've never gotten sick playing a video game before!

the first game made me a little sick without vsync or at least removing the framerate cap because the tearing at 62 fps was just horrible. the fov was also a little tight in the first game. those dont have to be issues in the second game so I cant image what would be making you sick if you have adjusted those to your liking.

The FoV made somewhat of a difference but whatever is hurting my eyes and giving me a headache is still present. I never game with vsync on so maybe I'll try that. I'm getting 113 fps in the game @1920x1080 so it shouldn't be laggy. Think I need to turn on the frame limiter also? It's like my monitor is displaying a strobe light almost. Absolutely 0 texture tearing.

Depth of Field turned off can help
You can turn off BLOOM as well in Willowengine.ini under [System Settings]
FOV in BL1 was 70... if BL1 never bothered you getting headaches, sometime 80 or 80 FOV helps.

*shrug*

80 or 90 FOV. HardOCP only vbulletin forum that never allows editing... you ppl are strange.

I feel sorry for you if you cant figure out how to edit a post.

He has only been here 9.2 years. Give him a break. Some people are slower at picking up on things.

I finished play through 2 tonight. I saw one orange the entire time and that is only because some one dropped it to make room for more gear. It was quite a bit lower level. Also beat terramorpheus.

You stay too long on the news section, becaue thats the section in which you can't edit posts :D:D:D:D:D:D

PD: see what I did there? :D

tooks me 2 or 3 tries but I start with the one by that broken circus cage thingie, then the one up the hill from there by the hyperion building, then the one in the valley and then the one way out in tentacle monster land.

just figure out where the boxes are first, then do it.

WOOOOT!!!! Love the DUUUURP!

Any one else get the bee shield? i got it and my friend got it. now i am completely board with the game. we can kill the raid boss in about 1 min, when before we had a hard time getting him to half hp. every thing is so easy now its not fun.

Ive put like 20 hours into this game only just beat the first "real" boss. Liking it.

Who knows how quest scaling works? if I have quests in my log during pt2 that i don't do, will they scale when I get to pt2.5? or do only quests that I haven't accepted scale?

I just noticed over the weekend that BL2 is not utilizing SLI at all.

I have the latest WHQL nvidia and physx drivers installed, and a BL2 game profile in nvidia control panel that appears to have SLI enabled, but when I enter the game my 2nd card sits at around 15% GPU usage and never increases from stock clock. I suspect it is using the 2nd card for physx, which would be fine in most games, but the game stutters and dips into the 30's somewhat regularly during co-op (It sill happens a bit in single player but it's not as severe).

I have tried forcing AFR-2 in the nvidia control panel and that seemed to work at first (both GPUs at > 70% usage, increased clock speed) but my game crashed after about 3 minutes of walking around in Sanctuary. It could have been overclock related though so I am tempted to try this out again with no overclock.

Has anyone else had similar problems with SLI in this game? I believe I have an old GPU sitting around somewhere that I could dedicate to physx but I would prefer not to go that route.

Its normal. When you have more than 1 card, you've gotta use one of the cards for physx purposes, which in your case means that you lose your SLI. Yeah, its a pita and (I'm in the same boat (GTX460 SLI) but it is what it is ;)

I don't know what res you are running, but a single 680 should be enough for this game on a single monitor.

From what I have read, it is the latter.

Definitely enough, I am running at 2560x1440 all high PhysX even and it rarely dips below 50-60. Maybe sometimes when using vortex grenades in extremely PhysX intensive areas.

You can do that even though the arms don't show up on the map?

No, I really don't think that's true. We'll have to hear from someone more intimately knowledgeable with a SLI setup, but I'm pretty sure you have the option to run in SLI mode or dedicate one of the cards to PhysX. I don't think you're ever forced to dedicate one card to PhysX.

The Octo does it too. It shoots a pattern that would be 9 pellets in a square, except the bottom left is missing. As the shot goes out, the pellets come together at some point. It was actually pretty deadly for short/medium range encounters. Also, it explodes when you reload and reforms in your hand.

Actually, it's 8 shots that converge to 1 point at optimal ranges. Very contrary to typical shotguns. Definately not a splatter weapon. I find it difficult to hit properly 'cuz you gotta time/aim that single point for max damage.

....And I will agree - the gun management/equipping kinda sucks... instead of looking at stats, if I'm in a rush I just look at the dollar amount of what I can sell them for... higher = better obviously.

Doesn't always work. Be sure to try out questionable weapons at Marcus's shop before tossing. The pistol Tina gives you, Teapot, has a crap sale value, but just rocked against robots for several levels 'cuz of the burst fire in zoomed mode.

I found a purple level 20 pistol off a chubby mob. The thing is badass as it shoots 2 bullets per shot. (Doesn't just consume) Also has amazing accuracy for a pistol and has a little scope on it. More powerful then my sniper rifle up until long ranges as the accuracy of the 2 rounds being fired at the same time drops off.

And yeah, the burst sniper rifles piss me off. I've found so many sniper rifles that would have ruled but then I realize they have the worthless burst 'bonus'. Three round burst on a six round clip. Worthless.

Gotta be DAHL made. thats not a bonus, itsa DAHL feature.

It uses one card fully and the second one partially (for the graphics) and automatically allocates a portion of the second card to physx. The gtx 690 is also brought to it's knees and is regularly under 60 FPS, but only in 4 player with high physx and lots of elemental / physx stuff.

Yeah, in single player I rarely see a dip lower than 45 but multiplayer is a different story. For me it doesn't matter if it's just 2 or 4 players, the frames drop into the 30s regularly during heavy combat and sometimes lower.

For me the game stays pretty steady with my 680, but if there are a lot of enemies and my turret starts spewing rockets the framerate bottoms out big time.

Granted I'm only one a 1920x1080 setup, but I'm running all settings as high as possible and the lowest I've seen it drop is around 40, and that's with A LOT of banners and shit flying around, in a city'ish location. Everywhere else it's smooth.
