The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

Im level 19 so far ive only found 3-4 red chests, I mean I look everywhere on roof tops behind buildings, I was hoping for more. Also, all my good items are about 3-4 levels below me, its beginning to become challenging. What happened to all the clap traps, they were all over the place in BL1, I love the little buggers, especially the asshole claptrap that wanted to stick an electrode up its ass rather than listen to me :D . I take it from the beginning of the game theyre all dead? That sucks!

I will say this. The end boss is badass, incredibly more interesting than the vagina from BL1. I thoroughly enjoyed that battle. Working on True Vault Hunter now.

got back into the game today...started a new game and am really enjoying it now...it's still gun porn but very enjoyable gun porn...graphics look excellent and the PhysX effects (for Nvidia owners) really add value to the game for a change...found a good scoped weapon early on which really made things easier...ClapTrap and the rest of the NPC's are really funny which adds to the immersion

Try farming the fridge. There are 3 in there, I've been farming those all day. Also, the mission where you save Roland is a good spot. You can farm the chests there a lot when you're lower level.

I rolled the dice and picked up a copy of BL2 for my wife last week. She agreed to "try it out" and play coop with me for a few hours; now she's hooked. She's never really played any FPS games before and was mostly just a Sims or point and click adventure gamer but she's caught on quickly. I started her off with a sniper rifle, which she loves, but she's gradually moving more towards the shotgun and rocket launcher.

I would agree however that if the game was more realistic looking she would probably be less apt to try it. I think this is simply because it would be more difficult to identify targets/objects/locations, and consequently, more confusing to learn. Since there's not much to really "learn" about playing BL it's much easier to jump in and enjoy the environment and story.

Same thing here. Even TF2 was deemed too intimidating and inaccessible, but a lot of fun's being had. Apparently it's nothing to do with the difficulty, but it's the sense that there's no competitive pressure making it easier to get into - no feeling of letting people down or ruining the game for others. She's also a huge art geek and had a lot to say about the art style, so I think you're right that it helps.

so when am i supposed to use the golden key? wait as long as possible?

Whenever you like, they release codes for their Shift thing you can redeem every so often. Apparently there's a wave due this weekend on the Gearbox twitter. And you get another just for signing up to Shift anyway.

None of us have had anything decent come out of it yet in any case. Eight redemptions so far, lots of purples with pretty shitty stats. But it's a freebie so who cares.

gun management is annoying...having to comb through every detail of the gun gets tiresome...I now just skim through the damage and if its higher and deals some bonus damage I keep it...slows down the game too much

I was farming God-liaths in the firehawk area. It can upgrade 4 times, and I've gotten some really good loot. Best upgrade for me was the 4.1k sniper rifle at 38. I also found a 5k gun, but it was too slow for solo use.

I've gotten pretty good at getting a Goliath to God-liath mode. Shoot the head, let him kill 1+2+3 mobs, run into the spiderant area to get him to kill another 4, kite and kill him in godmode. Lots of loots. I've also brought the one with a chest strapped to his back to godmode, but i dont think that affected the actual chest drops.

If you start with a badass goliath and upgrade him, the naming is different. I've only done it once, but i also messed up and died. When i returned, he was a normal godliath. It was something like Towering destruction goliath. I'd have to remake a lot to start with another badass goliath

imo, after you beat playthrough 2. i haven't used my keys yet, but from what i've seen others get... the loot from the chest is not something to drool over (my experience compared to farming Saturn / Warrior). so honestly, use it whenever you feel you need an equipment boost. I'm sure they will give out more keys later, too. (otherwise what's SHIFT for?)

thanks. i didn't know about shift. just signed up and got a free key. Where do you find out when they release new codes?

"These codes will be active for about two hours." - tweeted an hour ago

I'm new to BL2 -- picked up my copy on a deal posted here earlier.... loving it so far, only a level 10

what are these golden key things people are speaking of? I love free loot :)

And I will agree - the gun management/equipping kinda sucks... instead of looking at stats, if I'm in a rush I just look at the dollar amount of what I can sell them for... higher = better obviously.

Games still unplayable for me. Even after putting everything to low settings, dropping my resolution. It's weird that its doing it now... Going to try some tweaks

Spunk the cash on a 660ti.

is it me or are the grenades way cooler in BL2 vs BL1? Singularity nades, spinning pinwheels of fire, domes of electrocution, etc..

are the vehicle controls really this stupid?...I remapped movement to the arrow keys and drive forward/backward matches up with the arrow up/down keys...but move vehicle right/left does not scale with right/left arrow keys (it stays with the D and A keys)...so I have to remap them specifically when I drive and then remap them again when I exit the vehicle...c'mon Gearbox!

Yeah, vehicle steering controls kinda suck...mouse only.

you mean just like your char in 1st person view.... vehicles don't strafe, so how is mouse steering any different from the way you control your guy? I like it better this way so there isn't any auto-focus camera panning asshattery like every other game with vehicles that are constantly trying to follow your pov, feels perfectly smooth and goes exactly where I want it to.

Yeah they are awesome! You have to check their specs carefully! Some are a bit lower powered but will continuously burn the enemy as long as they are in the radius. It's perfect for some of the harder enemies that don't move around much. ;)

i want to see specs of the gun NAOW

This "Burning Infinity" gun feels like automatic gun mounted on the cars. It is that fast and no need to reload and infinite ammo. At first I though it is a glitch and my reload button stoped working but it is not :)

It is not very accurate long range but short range I just run through all the enemies like through soft green grass :) It ignites enemies as well and effective against flesh and even against robots. It is not good against fire resistant enemies but for rare those I have 2 other guns :)

I think I will outgrow the gun while leveling up but I found it on level 13. Now I'm level 15 and gun still rocks.

Shoot it against a wall and you'll see that the bullets fall into an infinity symbol pattern as well.

Do Oranges ONLY drop from bosses? Thats the only way i can find them... I have horrible luck. lvl 34 and only 3 oranges

No, they can even show up in vending machines.

From what I've seen - just use it when u get toe Sanctuary. You will pickup better weapons and those that waited too long were really disappointed with what they got. I think you are better to use it when you are first in Sanctuary, it will give you a weapon that will help you and either way you'll get better weapons from drops anyways.

I think this is probably best...everyone that has held the key through multiple playthroughs have been disappointed, so why not just use it early...can't be much worse then what you get later on

I'd hang on to your keys until you seem to hit a wall against the monsters you are facing. The first time that happened to me was around level 20. The game continually ramps up the difficulty - especially if you aren't doing a lot of side quests. You eventually get to where you progress like molasses if you don't get a much better weapon than what you already have.

The golden key doesn't guarantee a great drop either but you've got a much better chance than normal.

question: how does XP work? sometimes I kill the same enemy but with a different gun and the XP is different.

i've used two so far both around level 20 and the loot was purple but not that great. not elemental...

Has anyone ever been to the Hyperion Arena?

It was really easy up until the last round and last wave...

Three badass surveyors, three badass war bots, four turrets (mounted on the rails, upside down), a constructor and a badass constructor plus a half-dozen bots or so... at this point, I got nervous.

I barely survived this round, and it was because I was being cheap, scoring second winds left and right thanks to regular bots swarming me.

This was in the first playthrough, solo... I don't even know how hard it'll be in the playthrough 2.5, with 4 people in the game.

FINALLY just found a decent assault rifle at level 17...well, a few actually. One I found did like 68 explosive damage...shot really slow at first but "spins up" and starts raining explosive death. Then I got a quest reward blue Jakobs that does 215 damage w/ explosive and fires quickly.

Used one Golden Key and I got a couple of grenades...one was 700 something damage with Longbow which is pretty cool...the other one did Slag but the damage was total shit, like 90 or something awful like that.

Also, just got to the area with the Varkids and started getting MAJOR slowdown, like lower than 30 FPS range for a lot of that area. Even when not a lot was going on, but especially when there was a lot happening. Oddly enough it did not lag at all really on my GF's machine (lower spec but lower res as well).
