The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

well the game is fun however i hate the fact that you cant just do the normal missions or it will get super hard like i am level 15 while the units are level 19 and 20.

the guns are too weak to damage them well and when you kill them you dont get that much xp.

so you got to do the sub missions to level up more.

im in the exact same positions... mobs are too high right now , i need to do some side quests

the mission to save Roland...wow...takes forever and that build-a-bot thing I got so lucky, 2 second winds on that thing. if it wasn't for the purple SMG i have, I could never have killed it.

On the weapon topic, anyone seeing weapon descriptions that are wrong or missing information?

I have an awesome rifle that is a blast rifle but it doesn't say it causes blast damage and it doesn't have the icon. I also found a pretty wicked shotgun which ended up using 4 rounds per-shot (to my amazement first time i used it) but it didn't say anywhere that it used 4 rounds per shot. 9 round mag went by pretty quick

I haven't seen any missing descriptions so far (a la Borderlands 1), but I haven't necessarily been paying the closest attention.

I am enjoying the fact that there is a much heavier emphasis on elemental effects now, even though it makes for marginally more difficult comparisons between weapons. The only annoying bit is the restriction on inventory space - I always want to pick up and sell any rare item, but if I keep one of each elemental type weapon in my inventory that means lots of trips back to town. Given there is no 'town portal' type item, and the fast travel stations aren't as ubiquitous as I had hoped, it can make for some wasted time in inventory management..

I'm level 21 or 22 at the moment, trying to do most of the side quests, and so far I'd score it a 9/10. Great game, FAR improved on the first in every conceivable way. The only major knock I suppose I would give it is that it isn't really much of a revolution over the original. Minor knocks are no instanced loot in multiplayer (I'm not sure who would want to play in a public match), and inventory management (definitely adapted from the console as opposed to being designed for m/kb).

yup, found a purple shotgun at lv 11 did amazing explosive damage. Used 2 ammo per shot but didint mention it anywhere in the description.

how much inventory space do you need? You can buy pack space at the black market.

Yes, I've has to combat rifles that did blast damage without it being in the description, I also got a purple shield, from accidentally using a godl key when I first got to sanctuary and was only level 8, that says it does spike damage to anyone who does a melee attack on me, but in reality it sets them on fire.

On an unrelated topic, I'm having problem setting up a LAN between the two computers in my house. On BL one we both simply selected LAN, one set themselves up as host and the other joined, but in BL2 we are unable to see each other in the LAN section.

We haven't played much over the last few days because it seems everytime we get playing one, or both, of us loose our connection to Steam and thus drop out of the game. Which brings up another issue, I've used Steam since before HL2 was released and I've had more "lost connections" to Steam in the last week then I had total since I started using Steam.

Just finished my first play through this weekend, what an awesome game!

have any of you tried lvl'ing up the golioths the highest i have been able to get one up is fatal god lioth (he ended up dropping a purple and some greens)

also i just found this out, but you all probably knew this already. if you put a few thousand into moxxi's tip jar she will give you a purple smg of your lvl.

I'm only level 18 and so far this game has to be one of my top 5 games of all time. My only gripe is the watered down gore and language. As an adult I do not like the government of other countries dictating content for us.

Did that with three over buddies and it was pure fun robot carnage. I couldn't wipe the grin off my face for at least an hour. Crits shots!

My game hasn't been on the network since release to receive the patches, and every single shot, explosion, blast seems to gib people into a million parts. I think it may have been a fluke in the new patch that was released, I'm posting from work right now but i'll take some images later tonight. Also just to clarify for people finding some guns do things not stated, one of the gun manufacturers (Dahl I believe) fires in burst mode when scoped in. I'm not sure how this applies for shotguns but I know it's true on the sniper, smg, pistol, and rifle.

Are you just not hitting people hard enough? Here's another (with Afterburner fucking obliterating my framerate, making it hard to aim):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWWsx9QX0K8

Point blank shotgun hits seem to gib people fairly often, smacking someone in the head with a rifle from a distance, less so, through it does happen.

Let me guess, you play BF3 and/or COD. Your quick scoping was driving me mad! ;):D

I think a lot of it is based on how lucky you are with weapon drops. I was lucky enough to find a kick ass sniper rifle and I've sort of built around a high crit damage build. So I can easy 1 shot most of the enemies with the right shot placement+crit damage.

It's almost too easy. I also found a crazy good shield that I think I still have from like around level 10 (level 15 now I think). Found a pretty good shotgun over the weekend.

With season pass we are getting four DLC's. If any one of them is general knoxx quality then it will be a deal. Four DLC's at 5-10 hrs of content each is a pretty good deal.

Yeah I don't remember it saying that it covered ALL DLC, just 4 upcoming expansions.

It's so great of them to announce that there will be additional DLC not covered by the Season Pass...

http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012...re-non-season-pass-dlc-potential-vita-release

F everything about this.

Normally yeah I'd be throwing a fit but Gearbox is literally the only company now putting out DLC thats actual expansion packs. What is frustrating though is that the Term DLC means they can be as vague as they want and not be accountable for the end result content. Randy you am disappoint.

The main thing people are complaining about including myself is the lack of "popping heads" after a sniper shot like in Borderlands 1. Personally i'm over it as it comes to gameplay because of the fun i'm having. On principal I have a huge problem with watering down content to fit other countries sensibilities. I purchased an NA version of this game and expect an NA version that does not police morality like they try in Australia or EU countries.

you have the answer to your own complaint. of course it is expected you will do some of the side mission. If it wasn't you could over level the main quest very quickly and people would bitch that it is too easy.

I've had assault rifles that are actually grenade launchers, and all they seem to say is that thy deal explosive damage, plus consume extra ammo per shot. I haven't seen any weapons that are missing descriptors, but then again I'm at the point where I almost exclusively use elemental weapons.

About the missing gore, I didn't have ANY dismemberments until I hit like level 15 or so, even when using an awesome explosive shotgun, and even against weaker bandits that I could one-shot. The patch also came out before I noticed the dismemberments so maybe something was fixed or adjusted with that patch.

I'm loving the weapons that do additional explosive damage and have a high accuracy rating. They're like having a sniper grenade launcher with a massive clip.

So many great weapons in this. Did they bring the Mashers back? I haven't seen one yet.

I love the cinematic quality to it. Like they actually wanted to make this. Reminds me of valve. Goddamn theme song intro suckered me in again.

WAIT A MINUTE. If this is no place for heroes then why are there 4 of them? I call BS.

Goddamnit I love this game, I've been losing sleep every night staying up until 1AM, at least, playing. I haven't done that in several years. Just short of level 30 right now, probably around 38 hours in. Just finished storming Angel's core...a very fun fight, Gearbox really upped their game as far as the story goes. I am continuously surprised how good it is.

And the guns...my god the guns. I found a fast firing revolver, 8 shot, accurate, that does 490x2 , a white sniper rifle that does freakin' 1220 dmg, and a 12k dmg rocket launcher.

I used my gold key at around level 21; one high level shield was very good, and the second shield was pretty interesting, I haven't used it yet. It's only 550 capacity, but it's recharge delay is only 1 second, and it's recharge rate is 750. So basically it recharges instantly. Seems like it would be very good for a melee style or tankish type build. Playing a zero right now, doesn't seem the best choice, but I've kept it to try on a different character.

As for guns missing descriptors, I've only seen it a few times, and it's always been that the gun fires multiple rounds. A badass shotgun I found wasn't as good because it fired 4 rounds per shot, even though it didn't say anything.

I luckily was able to buy a legendary (orange) pistol from a vending machine that does corrosive damage and has something like a 95-round magazine with zoom. Super accurate when zoomed and it rapes robots. Helped a lot with that part. Also, having an electrocute weapon/grenade helps to take down the Constructor's shields.

I'm loving the weapons that do additional explosive damage and have a high accuracy rating. They're like having a sniper grenade launcher with a massive clip.

So far I actually dislike most of the explosive weapons because:

1) They generally shoot the tiny "rockets" that travel extremely slowly
2) They usually use up 2-4 rounds per shot

So many great weapons in this. Did they bring the Mashers back? I haven't seen one yet.

Supposedly there is some sort of variant of it. There's a thread over on the GB forums about how revolvers kinda suck now, and in a lot of ways I have to agree. They used to be low ammo, extremely high damage weapons...now they're just a pistol with okay damage and still low ammo count. Only real good thing is you can shoot them really fast (though you get shit accuracy if you do that). Usually you can just find a "regular" pistol that has a much higher mag and does just as much damage.

At level 23, I have a shotgun that does 83x13 explosive damage using three rounds each with an 8 round magazine. I use it exclusively for an up close and personal finisher in tight quarters. Does the job pretty well. I've had other assault rifles that fire "rokkits" and those did not last long in my inventory for just those reasons.

Now I am in love with my 825 damage, 96 accuracy, 22 round, fully automatic sniper rifle with shock damage. The biggest problem there is I can blow throw my entire 92 round stash in zero point zero flat. :D

Yeah, the shotguns with that property are not bad because you normally just rush and blast the guys in the face, but the assault rifles and pistols for the most part with that kinda suck IMO.

Another thing that is semi-annoying is that you can get pistols and sniper rifles (as you've found) that are fully automatic, but you have no idea if they are or not without using them. The fire rate doesn't really tell you anything necessarily, and there's nothing stating that on the weapon card. For instance, I found a purple pistol that wasn't super great except for the fact that it had a 42-round magazine and was fully automatic.

The one thing I find a bit lacking is class mod diversity; so far for Zero there are 3-4 different styles of mods, without large improvement that I've seen even in 10 levels. THe other issue is that most of the mods that have +skills have them deep in different trees, making it impossible to get the benefit out of them. I don't like that they require you to have at least 1 point in any skill to allow the mod to actually work.

The only tweaks I've done were the ini ones to get rid of the texture streaming. Which isn't perfect, but it's WAY better than stock. Sometimes now, though, when opening chests it will take a second for whatever is inside to load the models.

I'd like to see some shadow tweaks but I haven't really seen anything on that yet. I also tried that nVidia Inspector SGSSAA thing, but I saw zero improvement so I don't think it worked.

Yup, I have a regen mod on my Commando.

Not only that, but you can invest in the Preparation skill which gives you health regen when your shields are full. Nice to get you back up to par between fights, as it seems health pickups are moderately rare and there are no medkits in the game anymore.

EDIT: After some thought and reading about/playing the game, I think I'm going to shift away from getting the Phalanx shield and re-spec to go for rockets + dual guns + Longbow on my Commando. Apparently the Phalanx shield kinda sucks right now, and I think if I put all my points into Guerrilla I could have rocket pods by now. The Preparation skill is nice but I'll be able to get it later down the line with the tree I have specced out.

After playing the Gunzerker, I pity all the other classes. Gunzerking = health regen + ammo refills...

I got spoiled :(

isn't that just like using Roland in BL1? with some kind of regen shield and mods that regen ammo you could just stomp through the game in no time.

Maybe, but I only have a 1Gb 6950 and I didn't notice a single streaming texture thingy, excepting when you travel to a new area where you get a millisecond of blurriness. You have much RAM? I found going form 4 to 8GB did me a lot of good, it used to be a piece of shit before.

Yeah, I have 8 gigs. I didn't notice any streaming issues before, EXCEPT the chests streaming all the items and looking like ass. The edited INI I used eliminated all streaming, when I really just need it to fix the chests. In any event, the freezing is worse than the streaming.

Gee thanks Randy Pitchford, for Tweeting some Shift codes to get another Golden Key in the middle of the work day. And, of course, going to the Shift site and logging in doesn't allow you to actually input codes...basically the site has zero purpose right now other than just putting in/changing your account info.
