The New EVE: Apocrypha

5 months and you haven't broke through 10 mil yet? Shit.

Well after first 21 days of my trial I made roughly 45Mil.

- Go do Level two missions and higher. If you haven't learned how to use a Salvager, learn the skill for it and buy it. Finish up the Level two mission and salvage. I regularly get 2-3 mil per level 2 mission after salvaging. To survive Level 2 missions, make sure that your ship is properly outfitted to defend against the damage types being dealt by those NPCs. Hit up this guide to find out what damage is being dealt by the NPCs of a certain mission and what kind of enemy you can expect:
eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports

- If any of your corp mates are doing level 3 or 4 missions, see if they need a hand with that mission. Or if they need a salvage ship. Can't remember if it was a level 3 or 4 mission but I rememeber getting 6mil alone from the salvage from a mission I did with corp mates. And that salvage was split 4 ways (so 24mil total).

- Ratting can be profitable if you do it in the low-sec areas. However you do run the risk of running in actual player pirates in those low-sec areas.

You wouldn't happen to be in the Nakri area would you?

That's the way I've been doing it anyway. More than open to suggestions on improvement of my cash flow as well

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Missioning is honestly the fastest way to make isk early on in the game (and even later, barring certain nullsec ops, etc). Grinding missions sucks, but until you are able to complete L4's fairly easily I'd keep at it. Make sure all your missions are at least two jumps away from lowsec (<0.5) so pirates will leave you alone, as some missions are one or two jumps away.

Once you're more comfortable and have a few people you're happy flying with, ratting in 0.0 is more fun.

What kind of skills do you have?

edit: also, any kind of trading or industry is all about margins. Without being involved in serious volume, you won't make nearly as much money as missions or ratting.

Ive been doing trades for what seems like forever, yet the BEST ive done so far was a 4.5mil transaction on one trade. Other than that, im spending 3-5mil buying items and then selling it somewhere else for a mere 200k - 600k profit
Lesson #1: No one ever went broke making a profit.

And doing that takes up 30 or more minutes to complete.
Lesson #2: Some things are simply not worth your time.

This is a very complex subject, and just trying to find a good way to answer your questions my thoughts are all over the place as to what to mention first. I will just go ahead and apply design principles and start by asking: What's your requirement? How much ISK do you really need?

"As much as possible!", is not a valid answer, mainly because there's literally no limit to how much ISK is possible, there's currently one player buying a State Raven for 182 billion, that's just for a single ship that for all practical purposes can't be flown.

How much ISK do you need?
Once you know your requirement you can match a money making scheme to your need.

How can you make the most ISK for the least amount of time spent?
Hint #1; Mining isn't worth doing.
Hint #2; Whatever you paid for an item, there's almost always someone willing to pay more for the same item, often even at the same location.

The key to wealth, as I see it, is to resell items to other players.
It is true that many players turn manufacturing into very profitable ventures, and they end up with a lot of ISK, but they also by necessity need to spend quite some time acquiring that ISK. My goal is it to spend as little time as possible to obtain all the ISK I need and then some.

There's a location at which I sell Cap Booster 800 for 8k, that's about 5k above what I paid for them on the market. I sell about 1k per day, for a profit of roughly 5 million ISK (less tax). Whoop-dee-doo, 5 mil, big fucking deal.

Well, it is, because it makes me 150mil per month, and all I need to do is spend 30 minutes AFK hauling boosters twice a month. Actual effort, less than 5 minutes, so my payout is 30mil/minute, or if you want to just think isk/time 1.8 billion per hour.

Of course this sale doesn't scale, since I don't actually sell more than 1k boosters per day, sometimes more, sometimes less, in the end it all evens out. However, I do have multiple "only spend very little time" ventures that over the course of days, weeks, or months, produce handsome returns.

The key to wealth in EVE is to never underestimate the price some are willing to pay for convenience. Every time someone says to me "But ... but..., you can't sell an item for 3mil if everyone can just buy it for 1mil in Jita", I nod, and smile all the way to the bank.

I sell stuff for 3mil that can be bought in Jita for 1mil, and every item I sell makes me 2mil, while those who say that it can't be done gain nothing.

Think about what other players need. Think about where they need it. Find a niche, fill it, and be ready to move on when others start doing the same thing. I have been playing EVE for a long time, and if learned anything in the market then it is that good trades don't last forever unless you have the capital to outlast other sellers. What I mean by that is that I sell a number of things in 0.0, the way my supply chain is set up is that I put let's say 300 of something on the market. In the interim there will be someone else selling 10 of the same item, for less than I am selling for, which is fine, I don't care, because I know that he doesn't have the consistency and determination to make money. He put up ten and was probably happily jerking off watching his items sell and thinking what a genius he is for undercutting me and still making profit. What he didn't consider is the opportunity cost of putting up 10 items, they sell and he has to get more, at some point he gets tired of doing that even though it does make money. He's only making 600k profit per sale, and that's just not worth his time. That's when one of my 300 items sells, and I only spend 5 minutes a month of keeping that supply chain up.

Of course this all works because I can afford to tie up billions in the market. As someone who doesn't have much capital to invest such long schemes are not worth doing. Actually the opposite is true in your case, since you don't have much cash, you absolutely must work twice or trice as hard to make money because you need to make a return on your investment quickly. Ah well, there's so much more about this topic, but really, find items in demand and locations where they are in demand, sell at a premium. Consumables are generally a good way to start, T1/T2 ammo, skill books, boosters, etc.

Is there an early on frigate or industrial ship I can use that would be recommended for salvage or is it just not worth it till destroyer?

Thank you all for your great suggestions. Im eager to give them a try. Let me answer some of these questions first though, heh.

5 months and you haven't broke through 10 mil yet? Shit.
You wouldn't happen to be in the Nakri area would you?

TBH, I have made more than 10mil (on my own) but it has been slow going. I have mulitple donations made to me from kind people here at the [H] (you know who you are), but those donations were mostly spent on skill books, as well, I got 2 of my buddies into the game and whatever monies I had, I split with them to help them out too, ya know, spreading the Karma. All 3 of us seem to have this "Making ISK problem".

No, Im not in the Nakri area. Never heard of it, heh. I have been in the same 6 regions since I began the game, which are, Sinq Laison, Essence, Everyshore, Placid, Genesis and Verge Vendor. I may have touched a few other systems, but not often enough to recall what they were. These are the regions Ive been doing EVERYTHING so far.

What kind of skills do you have?

Ive posted this before, but that was several pages back and have accumulated more skills since, so I'll repost my skills.

Thuleman:
If not for you, I would have no where near the amount of skills I have now. You have been a great help to me and I thank you for that kindness. I printed out your advice and emailed a link of this page to my 2 friends to read too :D Advice understood and will implement.

What level missions are you doing?

Also, get a destroyer so you can loot and salvage the missions at a decent speed.

5 months in you should have a few hundred millions to your name unless you do nothing but PVP.

Ive done a few Level II missions untill I came to one (its been a month or so, I dont recall what it was called) which just kicked my butt left and right and sideways. After reading up about it, it turns out, I was supposed to kill certain rats in a certain order, but since I didnt know that, I was just killing them as they spawned. They kept on and kept on and kept on spawning. I got my 2 friends to join me and in the end, we all lost all of our ships and most of our ISK replacing those ships. We have yet to recover from that.

After that, we stopped doing level II missions cause we simply couldnt afford it. So, if we did any missions at all afterwards, they were level 1 missions and usually simple ones where you take item "x" somewhere and drop off. All in High-sec. We never got the balls to go back into Low-sec again for missions, though we attempted to do a bit of pirating together, but were always outclassed by much larger ships who would pop us within a few shots. After that, we stopped going into low-sec altogether and have been "trying" to do Trades ever since then by using Central to show us market prices from the above stated Regions.

I will do my best to follow all of everyones advice and start doing missions again and try to leave level 1's alone.

However, atm, I have something like a -.38 rating. I dont recall how or why I got a negative rating, but thats what it says.

I know you guys are dumbfounded as to how ive been playing for 5 months and still havent earned a decent paycheck yet. I am too, heh, but RL sometimes doesnt allow me to play as often as I would like. Sometimes, I only get to log in and play once a week. If I log in any other days, its for a short time, enough to put more skills into queue and maybe, perhaps do a trade run or 2 before I go to bed. Playing this game when your tired sucks and I get up for work at 4:30am and depending on how large an install I have, I might have a 12hr work day or longer. Though I would like to log in and play, sometimes Im just too damn tired to have reasonable cognitive thinking to make any progress. Not to mention, I am married and have 2 kids and the wife doesnt understand that my gaming is my way of trying to relax, so sometimes, its a difficult thing to do to log in and I NEVER log in while the kids are still awake, so that also limits me to only playing late at night.

Hope that clears up the reasons why ive played for 5mnths and not gotten anywhere :), though, with this advice from you guys, perhaps I can finally make enough to afford to do some neat stuff.

Thanks again for the advice everyone, I do, very much appreciate your time in replying.

Any ship can use a salvager (so a quick frig is quite good for pure salvage duty). People use destroyers to go back and clean up missions as they have lots of high slots = quicker salvaging (6 salvagers & 2 tractor beams iirc), and decent cargo hold to carry loot.

Destroyer is fairly easy & short skill though, I would probably skill for (& use) that before salvaging. For me mission skill path....
Frig --> Decent frig support skills --> destroyer --> salvaging... and then.... ---> Cruiser ---> BC --> BS (with appropriate support skills)

mission path works quite well imo, by the time you ready for level3's & in a BC you know more about the game/mission mechanics etc, so your understanding progresses nicely with mission/ship tiers.

About evesurvival.org being your guide in the darkness I have to aggree +One Million. It works in the in game browser so you can quickly get good intel on the missions you are about to run. It will let you know what things will trigger new spawns and give solid strats for hard missions.

So far as skill focus, at this point in the game it becomes a must. Having taken a peek at your skills I think Mashie's idea is a good one. This will give you the core skills to later train up for a Myrmidon, Ishtar or Dominix. All 3 of these are great solo level 4 runners and have great pvp potential as well.

I would skip destroyers as a mission boat, and go straight to cruisers. From cruisers to BC from BC to BS.

You shouldnt really be salvaging anything right now until you are up to lvl3's (unless you are doing l2's trying to make enough money for a BC then salvage it up until you get your BC) Because you will be making +-10 mil a mission when you get to l3's from bountys/reward/salvage. The main thing you need to think about is finding a good level 4 agent. google eve-agents. I think there is a website with a good database on it. Look for a good lvl4 high sec agent, figure out what corp he is, and start running missions with that corp to grind standing. By the time you are able to do l3 missions you should have a BC.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done for the IGB? It seriously takes at least 1 full minute to load even the home page. If IGB would work better, I'd have no reason to run Eve windowed.

There's another piece of advice for all those who struggle financially but still want to have some PvP fun; Join a Militia and do some factional warfare. The Amarr and Minmatar militias are still very active and of course I would encourage you to join the Amarr bloc even if you are of lesser birth. ;)

Appreciate the feedback. Haven't had much time during the week to play so skilling up mostly and once I get most of that done I'm sure things will be easier to work towards cruisers and such. Should all learning skills be learned to 4 or tier 1s to 5 and tier 2s to 4?

Destroyers can burn through the L1 grind in a hurry, and for L2s and up they can be converted into 4x Tractor Beam, 4x Salvager. boats. And the Catalyst with 3 cargo hold expansions can hold something like 829m3 which can clean up the largest of the L3s. That's the destroyer's niche imo and it's easy to get into and fly. Tractor beams can be expensive for a new L1 missioner but they're worth it in time saved.

All 3 of us seem to have this "Making ISK problem".

I'm in the same boat. A couple buddies that I know are working on Gallente rep so they had me fly out to Couser to work on my rep out there so I'm doing the starting missions again, but after buying books and what not I'm still hovering around the 4mil isk mark. Not sure how I'm ever going to get enough to get the advanced learning books as they all seem to be 4.5 mil each, but I still have a million skill points left till my bonus training runs out so hopefully I'll be into them by then.

My big thing is not knowing which skills to train or what books to buy. Since I don't know that I've just been focusing on things I'm pretty sure I'll need such as: gunnery skills, learning, navigation, ship command, minmatar frigate, and hull upgrades. Most of then are all level 4 and I just started training learning to level 5.

I downloaded Evemon and while it is useful I don't really understand hjow to use. I mean it tells me the fastest way to train my skills but keeps giving me paths with skills I can't use yet, i.e. all the advanced learning skills, so I just end up picking skills I think I need which is all I do in game.

Anywho, the game is pretty fun and in depth which while maybe seeming boring trying to train skills, it has enough depth to keep me interested. I was thinking of starting a mining alt while my skills train up and try and use that to make some extra isk. My rifter fills up so fast with loot I can't really farm stuff with it so I can't see using it as a salvager.

So far as the IGB being slow.. ya its pretty bad. What I do is fire up evesurvival as soon as I log in and then just minimize it so it dosnt take so long to load up when I need it.

For those of you in need of cash I may be doing some level 4 grindage this next week during the day and could use to hire someone to perform cleanup on the missions. Pay would be 50% of any loot/salvage collected.

Which area?

The area around Motsu. I have a nice quiet spot that I rarely have issues with interlopers.

I'll also be working on lvl4's around Croleur starting tomorrow night. I just completed the SoE epic arc, which helped get me more money, but I also lost 3 ships during it. I regard it as more of a skill course in playing Eve than anything.

Talking with the guys in the awesome corp I belong to (who are basically giving me a BC), two people got 15mil isk each (before salvaging) for doing 1 level 4 mission. The guy I was talking to has been playing Eve since 04, and helped me finish the epic arc last night. Hats off to people like that who show no selfishness

L4's are going to be tough in a BC especially if you dont have the support SP needed.

Welp, I found myself a level 2 mission last night. Just so happened I had the day off today, so I stayed up late last night to play.

I guess I misread or misunderstood what the Survival guide was saying cause it says Recommended ships to use was a Rifter. Just so happens, I had 2 of them already, just needed to be fit.

So, I fitted one up and entered into the mission. http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=UnauthorizedMilitaryPresence2an

Fairly soon after I started, I had to warp out to keep from being blown up. I didnt get a single kill, let alone finishing the mission.

I still have 5 days to complete the mission, so I havent given up yet. I think im going to NOT use a frigate this next time and see if I can afford to get another Vexor and use it instead.

I also think that since there were MANY ships there all at the same time, I think I should focus on using long range weapons and keep my distance, as I was using 3x 200mm projectile guns at close range. I thought that maybe since my Rifter could do a top speed of 963m/s with AB, I would be flying to fast for them to hit me. I was wrong.

I also think I should have not equipped a Salvager along with it. Obviously, when I fit the ship, I didnt know ALL the ships would be there at one time. I figured Id go thru a first wave and then the 2nd would spawn and then the 3rd, but nope, they were ALL there at one time.

Reason I went ahead and fit a Salvager on it was that since the recommended ship to use in the mission was the Rifter, I was lead to believe it would be an easy mission and not need to fit another weapon type. I have a Catalyst sitting at a station somewhere, so Im going to fly that ship to this area and fit it for salvaging and then tank the fuk out of a Vexor and put some long range weapons onto it.

On that survival guide, it mentions what dmg types those ships will do, so I fitted up the Rifter with compensating armor. But what I dont understand is that you guys and everyone else says to NOT mix tanks, but if they do several different types of dmg, how can you not have different types of armor?

We'll see what happens this next time and see if I can do better.

In that mission the enemy mainly deals explosion dmg, secondary therm, and a little kin dmg. So you need to resist explo definantly. Then if you have room put a therm reist on. I wouldnt worry about the kin, most of the time you are only resisting 2 types of dmg. What I did was buy 1 of each type of dmg active hardeners and keep them on my ship at all times. Just get the mission, see what you need to resist and change it before you leave everytime.

Recomended dmg dealing however, just do the top one, in this case its explo/kin so just use explo weapons.

I wouldnt worry too much about the "recommended" ships in the guide, just use what you have been using for all of your level 2's. Get yourself a cruiser preferably.

A good idea would be for you to use the www.eve-agents.com (something like that) website and find yourself a good high quality high sec level 4 agent (internal secruity or command or something like that) and start working your way up the tree for that corporation.

But what I dont understand is that you guys and everyone else says to NOT mix tanks, but if they do several different types of dmg, how can you not have different types of armor?
.

Sorry, should've been clearer before. By not mixing tanks, we mean don't have both an armor tank and a shield tank. Definitely distribute your resistances using resistance amplifiers/energized plates/hardeners according to the damage types rats will generally do. Pick either armor tank or shield tank to go for and customize accordingly. Loosely speaking, a ship uses low slots for armor tanking and medium slots for shield tanking as well.

Also, its a good idea to work for agents of the nationality of your ship. If you're flying a Caldari ship for instance, you'll find that combat missions from Caldari agents will generally involve rats more susceptible to kinetic damage, which many Caldari ships have racial damage bonuses for. This isn't always the case, but it should make things a little easier.

Look for missions from Security, Command, or Internal Security agents as these offer 95%+ kill missions, which are the ones you'll want to get. Statistics of mission type distribution can be found here.

I still have 5 days to complete the mission, so I havent given up yet. I think im going to NOT use a frigate this next time and see if I can afford to get another Vexor and use it instead.

If you want, I can sell you a Vexor for $1.8mil, half the price of market. Evemail me at dangmanever if you want it and I'll contract it to you.

Dunno how up-to-date this link is but it should be helpful:
http://wiki.goonfleet.com/index.php?title=Recommended_Skill_Training_Guide

Another source would be those certificates you see for the ships under "Recommended" when you look up the info for those ships. Use the certificate planner in your character sheet to figure what skills you need to train to for those certificates.

Concentrate on one char for now. You can always mine with your main char ya know.

OOO thanks for the link and the advice on certificate planner. never knew what those were really for. Feel kinda dumb actually...Thanks again danny

How does one know which to use in any given situation? Im sitting here in EFT/Evemon bouncing back and forth on Shields or Armor for my Vexor.

Perhaps im thinking about it the wrong way and please, correct me if im wrong, but when your in a battle, the first thing to go is the Shields, then Armor and then Structure. It seems to me that I would want my Shields to be as strong as they can be so when Im getting hit, I take less dmg.

I was going to ask what the difference was between an Shield Extender vs. Shield Hardener but I think I can see what the differences are......

A Hardener gives a bonus to the overall Shields

An Extender gives a bonus to a specific type, i.e. EM, EXP, KIN, THERM.

Is that correct?

Warp Scramblers and Webifiers....

Are these needed for Missions?

Also, MWD vs. AB 10mn. Which for Missions? Im thinking MWD for PvP and AB for PvE. Is that correct or does it really matter?

unless they changed it cant use mwd in missions yes mwd for pvp and ab for missions.

DOH!!!!

I knew that....cant use mwd in deadspace.....DOH!!!

Welp, I just got thru building a Vexor in EFT. Took me about 2 1/2hrs cause I read thru all the stats each module would give me. What do you guys think?

I fit this ship specifically for that mission I posted a link to earlier. For the Drones, I can only use 4 at one time atm, but I thought it a good idea to carry as many as I could incase some got blown up.

I also fitted this ship with ranged weapons. Seeing as how all those ships were spawned all at the same time, I figured it best to allow the Drones to do all the dirty work while I sit back at 20km. Atm, I cant use any Drone Augmenters. At least not for another 10 days till that skill hits level 5.

you cant drain the enemies power in missions so the neuts would be useless. i would use a webifier.

How does one know which to use in any given situation? Im sitting here in EFT/Evemon bouncing back and forth on Shields or Armor for my Vexor.

It really depends on the ship, the usage, and the pilot's skills. I believe a Vexor uses armor tanking in almost any situation, but I don't fly gallente so I might be ignorant of any exceptions. I looked around a bit, check this out for a cheap/easy to fit Vexor fit. Feel free to browse the other loadouts on that site to get a better feel for what fits are popular. Most missions fits are pretty optimized.

Perhaps im thinking about it the wrong way and please, correct me if im wrong, but when your in a battle, the first thing to go is the Shields, then Armor and then Structure. It seems to me that I would want my Shields to be as strong as they can be so when Im getting hit, I take less dmg.
Each ship has unique shield/armor characteristics such as natural armor/shield hp, regen rate on shield, racial resist bonuses, and other auxiliary characteristics which affect tank fitting like powergrid/cpu and capacitor. In the case of the Vexor, I think you'll find that armor tanking is the way to go; try fitting both shield and armor tank and see what gives you a better sustained defense. Speaking of sustained defense, you can customize your ships using custom damage profiles based on aggregate data from specific types of mission rats. Copy/paste the following into the end of your config.ini file in your EFT directory, and you'll be able to use these damage profiles to see your sustained defense against various mission rats. You'll be able to see what kind of rat you're up against by checking the mission description; the logo or banner is of the faction you'll be fighting.

DamageProfile=Gurista,0,570,3504,0
DamageProfile=Angel,480,0,719,3058
DamageProfile=Sansha,1945,1598,0,0
DamageProfile=Serpentis,0,1627,1320,0
DamageProfile=Blood raider,613,570,60,0
DamageProfile=Gallente federation,25,781,1127,0
DamageProfile=Minmatar republic,615,310,815,1633
DamageProfile=Amarr empire,1204,1349,0,0
DamageProfile=Caldari state,0,795,944,0
DamageProfile=EoM,0,618,1718,0
DamageProfile=Mercenaries,90,634,424,108
DamageProfile=Rogue Drones,86,91,281,964

This will help you choose your armor/shield resists. Notice that most rats do mostly one type of damage but have a second/third damage type as well. Against Guristas, for instance, I used to fit two Kinetic hardeners and one Thermal.

It is important to notice as well that armor and shields have different base resist values regardless of ship race or type. Shields have no inherent EM resistance, for instance.

I think you've got the two mixed up; hardeners give a boost to your resist while extenders increase the base amount of hp. Experiment in EFT to see what combinations give you the best sustained defense- in missions this is the most important value. PVP is a whole nother and entirely more complicated beast.

Warp Scramblers and Webifiers....

Are these needed for Missions?

Also, MWD vs. AB 10mn. Which for Missions? Im thinking MWD for PvP and AB for PvE. Is that correct or does it really matter?

Webifiers can be useful in missions, but generally you'll find that fitting a stronger tank will be better. Make sure you train Drones V very soon, as anything too fast to hit in a Vexor can easily be taken out with a complement of drones. Warp scramblers are useless in missions because rats never warp away anyway.

As for MWD vs AB, many missions disallow the use of MWDs. A good AB will suit you fine, and the increased speed of microwarpdrives are only a convenience factor. In fact, an afterburner isn't required for missions; they do become very nice later when you're flying battlecruisers and battleships that clunk around at 100m/s.

There really isn't a defined split between pvp or pve for mwd/ab, as it truly depends on the situation.

Thanks again for the info.

I was just in the game a second ago trying to get the modules, but my fitting cost too much, LOL. Esp my weapons and ammo. And then, (and your going to laugh), my mouse quit on me. I have a stupid cheapo logitech cordless mouse and the batteries died on me. I couldnt even swap out my tv remote batteries cause they use AAA size and the mouse is AA. Oyyyyy!!!!!

I get paid tomorrow, so I think my first priority is to get rid of this clunker of a mouse.

Damn, its going to be hard to go to sleep tonight. Not being able to test out my Vexor and new fitting, its going to drive me nuts. Wish I had a beer. Ahh well....I got the whole weekend to have fun. Tomorrow my B-day and I took the day off, WOOHOOO!!!!! 36yrs old and still playing games....cant help it, they are fun and relaxing.....usually, heh.

I play Gallente so I can help you out a bit. OH and do you want that Vexor that I mentioned earlier?

How does one know which to use in any given situation? Im sitting here in EFT/Evemon bouncing back and forth on Shields or Armor for my Vexor.

Gallente is traditionally more armor tanking than shield tanking as is Amarr. Caldari are shield tankers while Minamatay can do both. But all four sides do have ships that could do armor or shield tanking. But a general rule of thumb when it comes to tanking is this:
- More low slots than mid slots: Armor Tanker
- More mid slots than low slots: Shield Tanker
- Equal mid and low slots: Can do both but generally recommended to pick one or the other.

The Vexor, as an example, is an armor tanker due to its low slots being more numerous than its mid slots.

What do you guys think?

Try to increase the number of drones per type. Stick to fit and use four (since you can only use four. Or five once Drone V is hit) of a certain drone type since you'll be more combat effective that way. So 4 x Hammerheads, 4 x Valkyries, 4 x Vespas, etc.

Ditch the Sensor Subroutines. Not worth it. So try to fit in two Cap Recharger I or Cap Recharger IIs if you can afford it for the mid slot since you'll be a bit more cap stable.

Ditch the 1600mm Rolled Plates. Go for a 800mm plate instead and go for a Medium Armor Repairer I (MAR). Sure you lose a bit of HP BUT the MAR 1 will more than make that up as it constantly heals up your ship while it takes up damage. Armor tanking essentially. The two remaining low slots can be used for your mission specific hardeners or plates.

With railguns, you want range. So ditch the AM charges and switch to Iridium or Lead charges to get that range. As for Dual 150mm guns, I haven't tried those myself but IIRC, they're a bit slow at tracking. I just went with 4 x 150mm railguns and that was that. Try both if you want to see which one is better. Oh as knothead34 said, the Small Energy Neutralizer are pretty much useless for missions. When I had the Vexor, I was a bit short on cash for a properly fitted out Destroyer so I just fitted a Salvager on the 5th slot of the Vexor.

lots of good stuff .

This man speaks the truth, read this^ 5 times. have a cup of tea/coffee/beer to consider everything and then go from there ;)

Missions are primarily about tanking (sustaining incoming damage by repairing & maintaining cap to keep the repper going) and then killing off the NPC's.

For that mission (lots of frigs) light drones would be a good choice, so Warriors and Hobgoblins, as many as you can fit really. Fit 3 long range guns on vexor, get aggro from the NPC's (try for 1 pocket at a time, they tend to be grouped together) and then sit back repairing and let the drones do the killing. 2 salvagers in the spare highs to clean up.

Alternatively... when I saw that mission guide I nearly wet myself thinking how much pwnage a decent destroyer (aka frig-killer) would put out... hmmmm one-volley frigs....

Yeah, thats a good deal on that Vexor, however, atm, Im doing good to afford fitting the Vexor I have. If I can start bringing in some ISK, I'll take ya up on that deal if its still on the table :)

The AM charges are just there cause I havent figured out how to put specific ammo into the EFT yet. I think I have Uranium atm though, but it was late last night and the wacko mouse I have kinda ruined my gaming night so I dont recall what exactly I had fitted.

I used the Energy Neutralizer just because it seemed to be something that alot of the fittings I saw at Battleclinic we using them. I thought it odd to equip them seeing as how they have a 6km range vs. the 20+km range of my weapons, but I figured people were equiping them for when the rats get into close range. Sadly, I never got a chance to find that out though.

I dont know how many times I can keep on telling you guys how much I appreciate your advice before it becomes meaningless to ya, but regardless.....THANKS again for all your help.

Was going to get myself a new mouse today, but work called and needed me, though it was my birthday today, when the work is there, ya gotta take it. Ended up working all day and by the time I got home, I had a choice, go and get a new mouse and skip out on having a nice dinner with the wife with NO kids or have the dinner. I took the dinner and just bought more batteries, hehe. Going to get the mouse tomorrow, probably a G15. But for now.......ITS GAME TIME!!!!!!!! And this time, Ive got BEER. Samuel Adams Octoberfest.........GAME ON!!!!

I FUKING DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I KILLED EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM FRIGGIN BASTARDS!!!!!

Mannn, those Drones kick some ass. I COMPLETED THE MISSION!!!!!!!! MY VERY FIRST LEVEL 2 MISSION AND NOT A SCRATCH ON ME!!!!!!!!

I went ahead and sold EVERYTHING I got from the wrecks and I made nearly 4million!!!!!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!!! This is WAYYYYYYYY better than mining or trading. I probably would have made more had I went ahead and gone back to Dodixie, but its been another long day so I just sold it where I was at (this time around).

THANK YOU EVERYONE for helping me out of my rut. It probably took me longer to Salvage all the loot than it did to kill everything, hehe. If I wasnt so tired, Id be bouncing off the walls right now!!!!!!

WOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring on the next level II mission.....IM TOTALLY getting into this game now. Mannn, that was some cool shit. Im looking forward to tomorrow nights gaming.

What a way to cap off my Bday.......Thanks again guys, your awesome!!!!!

WOOOOOT WOOOT WOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear!

Now some advice about salvaging: Dedicate an entire ship for salvaging. D0n2k mentioned a decent salvage destroyer a few posts back thats worth taking a look at. However, even a frigate with 3 Salvagers will be a decent enough salvage ship. Having a dedicated salvage ship will help salvage a battlespace much faster than a cruiser outfitted with one salvager. Coupled with the frigates or destroyers high maneuverability and speed, it makes them ideal salvage ships.

So basically the MO is as so: Complete the mission, bookmark the wrecks under "People & Places", turn in or report to the agent to finish the mission, get in your salvage ship, warp to the bookmark you made, and salvage away! Since the area is no longer a mission area, your salvage ship can be fitted with a microwarpdrive to speed up traveling between wrecks.

Oh and good luck!

L4's are going to be tough in a BC especially if you dont have the support SP needed.

Yeah they were, even when having most of the skills and then some. I was able to tank the drake quite well, actually. There were 2-4 of us doing each mission. Never seen so many rats before. :D But luckily their weakness was EM, which I packed and tanked for, and I actually took out some larger ships pretty quickly.

Good to hear!

Quoted for much truth. Was doing this last night on the level 4's I mentioned above, and fitting even a cormorant (which can be had for under a mil isk usually) for salvaging is good. Four tractors, 4 salvagers, a 1mn MWD, a cap recharger, and an expanded cargo will get the job done, well.
