Pulling down a trial VMware right now, I misplaced my corp network....

It's a virtual machine, mage uses it also so he knows what I'm doing.

Umm, opps.... Note to self: Linix bites.

Ok, I think I had a virtual SCSI drive on the first one. It's now booted and I I have no clue what to do....

I'm having trouble breathing due to laughter and drinking water while reading your post.

You need to set the VM up with an IDE disk. It's an advanced setting. The installer looks for "/dev/hda", or "ide disk one" rather than "/dev/sda", or "scsi disk one". Don't ask why it's "hda" instead of "ida". Idaknow.

/me used to use VMWare before my license ran out. :(

Okay, forgot a step. it says "fold-box login:" at the bottom, right? Enter "root", and then "Fold@on" when it asks for a password.

I see you figured it out ;)

I misread that. I thought it said "be fun watching you to at a bar fight with women"

Ok, it loaded, net connection not working. Virtual machine issue I think, will work on.

aooh? What does that mean? Try "ifconfig eth0" to see if it has a "UP" in the status line. Are you getting a network address?
ss.png

Also, are you using "bridged" networking?

Ok, can ping out switched something err another

crapps out big time on the /etc/getfold

Get this, the zinger of all. MS Paint craps out on my system now..... let me try it again

I captured a movie in VM too, I don't have your email on this box mage.

^ Jeez, talk about insult to injury.

I'd be like "Hi, you're fat. I mean pretty" and then she'd slap me and marty'd be like "hah, WHOOPS".

more like marty="hey you are fat, want to dance"

i mean.. um :D

kidding... or something

Figured it out. Bug in my typing. Let's see if I can tell you precisely enough what to type...
enter "vi /etc/getfold"
scroll down to the 5th line (it shows what line you're on at the bottom)
arrow over until you're after "sed", then press "i".
insert " -n", so it starts like this: "sed -n '"
arrow key over to almost the end of the line, and insert a "p" between the / and the '`.
The whole line should now look like this:
sed -n '/Linux/s/.*href="\([^"]*\)".*/\1/p'`
If you screw up anywhere, press <esc>:q!<enter> and you can start over.

If you get it right, press <esc>:wq<enter> and try "/etc/getfold". Works for me.

K*, play nice ;)

what does :wq<enter mean? nevermind

there is 4 fricking deallies... just d/l newest booting now

Nope, that's actually normal for the Linux client. Here's the list from my main box:
101 21032 0.0 0.0 12632 456 pts/2 S Jul21 0:04 ./foldingathome -forceasm -advmethods

But look at the CPU column; this is how much CPU power each process is taking. The one process is taking 99%.

It's offical, Mage is a god!

Folding on 64 meg of RAM, first screenie is WU running, 2nd is 192 ram, 3rd is 64 system RAM. Umm 32 no work.... But that's still [H]ard as [H]ell

Yea, it's a small timeless WU, just what it grabbed.

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/6963/working26kt.png
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6/working32mf.png

So timeless/normals @ 64 meg RAM. Big WU's @ 192 ? 128 and swap action?

How much does Samba take? I must admit I had to type 3 lines of stuff in...too much!

Ohh, and BT Fing W, what user name is this folding under???

:D :D :D

Good Job!

edit: what are the odds? I wait about 15 minutes, but the second I post he slips one in before me... ;)

Samba is a 4.3 mb compressed file, or 13 uncompressed. Should make the installer about 10mb (as opposed to 6 :D ) and make it take up 55mb installed instead of 40.

Oh, and most of that is filesystem overhead; the actual files only take up about 6.5 mb. Samba is gonna triple that ;)

and answer: it's "[H]ard|User", for team 33 of course.

---

anyways, going to bed. It's almost 1 here, and I've got work tomorrow :p work on it more tomorrow.

So I'm guessing that means it's folding under your name then huh...

edit: me can't read screen. that hard user deally

Seeing this makes me not want to go to work... I wanna play with the fun Linuxy foldy thingy! At least I've got something to do tonight now! ;)

How much memory overhead does it take?

I know how you feel. Luckily, I was already at work when I saw all the updates on this so I wasn't tempted to call in sick even if I could afford to. My only problem is that I just got my dually PII back up and folding last night after a WinXP install. Although the old IDE hard drive is about shot in it I think, I could probably install it on that for a temporary measure.

I won't have the time to do anything tonight, unfortunately. Too much cleaning and laundry to do yet. It wouldn't be so bad if I had a net connection at home and an extra monitor at my friend's house.

Hey mage, is this thing setup to run dual processor systems also? I forgot to ask about that before you actually started work on it.

With FAH stopped, I see 8540 kb of memory used. You can type "free" at a console to check how much it's currently using.

And it should support duallies; i'd appreciate testers, though.

Gotta run, I'll check back this afternoon/evening. Hooray for overtime...

If I get time, I can test dullie @ shop.

I meant, how much more RAM will Samba take?

Dullie reporting in! I challenge anyone to out crap this.

2x P3 550
96 meg RAM (64 causes core errors, crapped out right away)
738 MB hard drive (yea, MB)

Light right up.

Mage- Please post the current config for what the WU's assigments are (timeless/normal/large)

To do list:
Samba share deally
Ability to edit config (folding name) on installation process

Anything I miss?

Sweet deal, that even I can use!
