Star Wars Outlaws

Right… from storm troopers. I clearly said, the announcer on the radio.

...and the guards by the mansion at the start of the game... and the people on the snow planet... and basically every human you fight

they're obviously not doing some weird ass political thing like you seem to be insinuating

The NPC comments while in combat remind me of FEAR a lot. Still having fun.

Edit: this is the Star Wars game I never knew I needed. It was little rough at the start but I can’t put it down now.

I’m not ‘insinuating’ anything. I’m literally stating a fact. One that you and that other guy seem to have been ‘triggered’ by.

The announcer on the radio says ‘they’ are getting away.

Maybe, and I know it's a stretch, but just MAYBE the person on the radio doesn't know what gender or how many since they are on the radio and can't see or maybe it's one that didn't see who/what/how many there are. Seems like you might be the one that is triggered instead of just enjoying the game. Play more, think less. lol

Virtually every aspect of modern culture is under siege at present - and you want me to ‘think less’.

How about, no.

Companies like Sweet Baby exist for one reason: not to make games better, but to shove some weird, fucked up political agenda down our throats. I don’t care if Sweet Baby worked on this game or not - I hate seeing shit like this in games.

the people that are actually playing the game seem to be enjoying it...the people not playing are the ones posting memes...seems like a solid 7 or 8 game
People are free to enjoy whatever they want, but it doesn't change the fact that when viewed dispassionately this game is a dreary bug ridden experience which doesn't bring anything new to the table but has been wrapped in a shiny veneer (form over substance). Even Kotaku is finally admitting this post the pre-release hype cycle.

i'm not the one getting bothered over a language concept that's existed for literal centuries (but has seemingly somehow completely eluded you up to this stage)

you're really out here trying to tell me someone saying something like:

"stop them"
"they're running away"

is somehow some brand new, egregious thing.

wait until you find out that even william
shakespeare had the audacity to slip some singular they's into his writing, the absolute scamp. nothing is sacred any more.

Ah… Shakespeare.

You're the one crying about incidental video game dialog using a word in a way that it has been used since, at least, the 14th century. I highly doubt the person who wrote the dialog gave it much though. THEY likely wrote a handful of generic sounding lines that would work as audio cues for when the player was being hunted. You heard one line among thousands and rushed to the forums to whinge about it.

She's a normal, human female in the game. She's not a they/them. She didn't used to be a man. She may look like a foot because they're idiots and didn't use the likeness of the stunningly beautiful actress for whom she was supposed to be modeled after, but there's nothing sinister going on in the game dialogue. Forced woke nonsense in games infuriates me to no end, but this isn't that.

Complete horse shit.

The Imperial announcer literally says: “The fugitive has been spotted… move in and detain them.”

Them? The fugitive?

You’re telling me that this ISN’T more woke/identify-your-pronouns bullshit making its way into gaming?

Yes it is. Drop the Shakespeare crap. It’s laughable.

this is either immaculate bait or possibly one of the dumbest, most comically unhinged things i've ever read

jesus hahaha

Well, even though I don't agree that the game is using "they" in that sense based on the fact that the game NPCs refer to the character as she and her elsewhere, the voice actress is apparently both queer and polyamorous:

https://remezcla.com/film/meet-humb...ad-in-hallmark-first-lesbian-christmas-movie/

Also "lesbian Christmas movie" is an oxymoron.

Having said that, I think she uses normal "she/her" to describe herself in real life, but I honestly wouldn't hold it past Ubisoft if they were in fact using "they" in this manner in a subtle manner.

JFC dude.... you are fucking mental.... give it a rest.

DEI is bullshit anyway because it cancels entire groups (such as boys or white males) but it also ignores groups that have no voice and are completely unseen, such as the elderly and the infirm. Older people are barely represented in film, and not at all in gaming. If we really want to be inclusive then we need to include everyone, including those terrible white males who have repressed everyone else all these years. I’m a black woman, btw. A black lesbian woman

Did you just misgender Hershy!?! 😱🤪🤣

indeed

This bickering is hilarious. Hershy how do you go through life if something like that deeply offends you? Must be exhausting to even exist in civilization if that's the kind of battle you choose to fight.

Video Games are just Drive they fuel a person's will to live.

Whenever NPCs refer to my character as "they" I always just assume it was lazy programming.
1. The game doesn't know which gender I chose (not applicable here).
2. The game doesn't know if I am alone or with a companion/follower/party.

Game-related, the one thing I'd caution people about is how stealthy the game pushes you to be. Some people will love that, and others will probably hate it, but it it's no accident either way. It's what they typically want you to do. Personally, I feel like I'm playing the Uncharted 2 museum mission over and over again. It isn't quite as rigid, but there's no quicksave option and you lose everything on those missions where you're supposed to remain hidden. There are unlockable bonuses tied to different (usually stealthy) approaches, too. My wife is digging it, but I'm way less enthused about sneaking around so much.

Who gives a shit? Of all this game's problems, this is probably the least of them. Broken AI, shitty shooting mechanics, main gun is crap, can't carry picked up weapons anywhere, main character's face looks like a foot, worse facial animations than launch day Mass Effect Andromeda, and the list goes on.

The stealth focus would be fine if the stealth systems weren’t less advanced than the first Splinter Cell. I like sneaking around in games and playing with stealth systems but there really isn’t much of a system in Outlaws. They put so much focus on stealth and you can’t even hide the bodies of people you knock out.

Man when splinter cell would have the guards find you because it heard you talking over the headset, i thought the future of stealth games was going to just keep getting better and more amazing. And sadly that was the peak then.

Unfortunate they went with such a braindead system. I was thinking of going ubi connect route and giving it a shot but after watching reviews and reading the comments the game play just sounds too shitty. I can forgive it if the story is really good but apparently this game falls short in that department as well.

I can't stand forced stealth gameplay. That right there is an automatic "no go" for me.

I just started and not far into the game, but is the first part just really meh and then it gets better? And you would think that with the stealth forced on you, hiding in the weeds or whatever they are would actually keep you hidden. Only thing keeping me going right now is the Star Wars aspect.

I like it more compared to both Jedi survivor games personally. Also runs better. Both Jedi survivor games had UE4 jank.

Despite my complaints about the stealth systems, I am having fun with the game still. It's damning with faint praise but, Outlaws really is the perfect "subscribe for a month to play" game. A lot of problems, a lot of obvious outside interference in the design, but not unfun. Before the game came out, I said that a lot is going to come down to how "Ubisoft" it ends up being and I think that was pretty spot on. Aside from the bugs and AI issues, the biggest problems with the game are the "this feels like every Ubisoft game from the past decade" parts.

Yeah, it gets much better. The starting area really sucks.

That's the main reason I really don't have a problem with the game. If I paid full retail price - Yes, i'd rate it lower. However, considering you can get this for $18 and finish it in a month - It's a solid game for only 18 bucks. I suspect my opinion will be the same of the new AC game as well.
