Speaker and Headphone Rigs Picture Thread

Plus it's fun to say.. JERKER!
I too am still rockin' the Gen. 1 Jerker, and have a backup+spares in the basement I scored a few years back on FBMP as backup parts. :D Think I've got nearly all the attachments they came out with too, except for the Gen 2+ extension arm rests or mouse pad areas, they don't work with the Gen 1 I don't think so I never tried to get em.

I use a LACK as a PC case stand to get the cube off the floor, but you can kinda see the desk in this pic. Not taking a pic of my desk currently, it's covered in paperwork I'm procrastinating on. xD

Required current can setup, Chord MoJo2 + Sennheiser HD6xx's. I'm a fan of these over my original blue HD600's and even my 650's, imo they have the clarity of the 600's and add a bit of bass punch the 650's were still kind of lacking in. Sometimes the Senns get swapped in for Grado SR80s, but they aren't as comfortable to me so I've been using them less and less. The Chord, nothing needs to be said about it lol. Thing is a beast and is configurable to the moon, and has the power to back it up too. Only thing I wish it had was USB-C charging. I heard it's in the works, but that was a few years ago and no word since. :(

LCD-5 arrived this week, As it turns out, Audeze cans must be EQd else they sound rubbish, these sound terrible without EQ, but man once you apply a corrected harman profile and fine tune the upper range slightly, they are rather good, not my HE1000se good, but still very good and a diff flavour of resolution and imaging to the Hifimans.

Another plus for headphones is you don’t have to worry about room treatment or positioning!

Room treatment and positioning is easy to some of us. For me it's no problem and I actually like doing it. Speakers all the way here.

Good for you. Most people don't have dedicated listening rooms.

I don't have a dedicated Listening Room I'm just saying it's not that hard like it's made out to be. Just set the speakers up correctly and enjoy them.

Swapped my SMSL D400 Pro for the new FiiO K17. Absolutely no complaints about the D400. I wanted a nice dac with streaming functions and the K17 delivered.

I'll be listing my D400 in the FS thread in a few days if anyone is looking for an excellent dac at a great price. ;)

Got new Bluetooth headphones for my birthday.. mostly because we saw these on closeout for $42 at TJMaxx... and my ATH-SR6BT started disintergrating and all the fake leather flaking off which is VERY annoying.. and So they are going away. Anyways... Got these JBL LIVE770NC headphones and well, they are very much bass-head headphones, they have a LOT of bass... probably honestly too much bass.. but if you like bass they are possibly right up your street?

Build quality seems ~OK.. nothing to write home about, I personally am kinda of glad to not have the fake leather on the headband of these, will have to see how they hold up.. The carry bag that comes with these is quite thin and will not protect the headphone at all from drops or whatever..but meh?

Going to mess with the EQ on the app and see if they can be somewhat tamed in the bass department going to also give them a couple days and see how it goes... but initially reaction is "that is a lot of bass".

I've got a few different sets of JBL BT earbuds and same with their BT speakers, and I'm a fan. They are rather bass heavy as you mentioned but their products have lasted for me for years with heavy use and abuse.

I sold my beloved Parasound Hint Integrated Amp (and my Wiim Ultra streamer) - I needed the money while between jobs.
I bought a Wiim Amp Ultra - partly because I needed something and partly because I've always liked their streamers.

I'd call it "good enough" - most people would like it and while I don't hate it, I'm looking forward to replacing it.

After five or six years away from a nice 7.1 system, I think I'm ready to go back...

My headphones (B&W Px7 S2E). I initially bought them for office and travel use but I'll use them occasionally when I don't want to risk waking anyone up.

What do you use as a source?

This is going to be in a 10x10 home office so 7.1 is already ridiculous but I'm open minded...
gpus, they have or can have atmos and dtsx. its given me the best positional game sound (via speakers) ive ever had.

Interesting audio solution. Do you run a USB from your GPU to an external device like an amp/AV receiver?

I've been using HDMI to a receiver since video cards have had HDMI, it's the easiest and best solution, with nvidia anyway. I've only used an AMD card once and it was always causing problems but that was over 10 years ago. I'm sure it's much better now.

hdmi/dp carries it to the amps hdmi in (or pass-through via earc on your tv)
BUT it can be a bit fiddly on amd or nv, not sure on intel... dtsx works perfect though, for me anyways.

I've never seen an AVR with USB inputs. I used HDMI and 7.1 for years and never had an issue with dropouts (on Nvidia)

The main problem/drawback is that gaming monitors generally need DP but AVRs require HDMI input - so you need DP to your gaming monitor and then you still have to setup a second monitor (even a super simple 1080P screen will work) and run that HDMI connection to the AVR and then usually run that video connection out of the AVR to the monitor. As someone who really does not like having more than one screen, it's a hassle. Some people make super tiny custom resolutions (like 2x2 pixels).

I was doing it before the latest HDMI standards so it's possible that if you have a monitor that can run full speed on HDMI that you can do it with a single screen but pendragon may know more about this.

For me, end game is a 5120x2160 OLED that does 240+ Hz but I think that's just beyond the current HDMI spec and AVRs are meant for the TV world, not the gaming world.

edit: from what I can tell a bit part of what makes all of this a pain for PC users is HDCP. There is no technical reason they can't let you connect with USB or just run an audio only HDMI link to the AVR but they're so worried we're going to pirate movies that the whole thing is more broken than it really needs to be.

I've never seen an AVR with USB inputs.
I just was thinking of how to connect to a standalone dac like my FiiO K17. It doesn't have HDMI. I might try an HDMI to USB C cable to see how the audio sounds on my system.

An AVR will have it's own multi channel DAC - your external DAC has nothing to offer except an additional layer of conversion before the AVR converts the sound.

I'm a sucker for the silver and the Marantz sound - have a feeling I could find one for a decent price...

I don't use an AVR. My speakers (in sig) are powered studio monitors -- i.e., built-in amplifiers. I run the signal from PC to dac to subwoofer to speakers.

well, there you go - monitors are easy mode - I thought about it for a while but I like the gadgetry too much

That feeling when your integrated amplifier is much larger than the computer you are using at the minute.

edit btw I am not blocking the vents on the integrated amp as the vents are just top left solid on the right hand side.
