Speaker and Headphone Rigs Picture Thread

Got a set of over-the-ear buds that actually fit well and sound amazing. :)

You guys have some nice modern hardware, very nice.

I just got a bunch of old stuff over the holidays.. was using a soundbar for the last 2 years and finally had enough..

Beast mode amp!! :notworthy:(y)
Back in the early 2000s I had an Adcom GFA-545 and GTP-400. I had them for maybe 7 years or so before they got stolen. For me it was perfect. After that I went to AVRs and was never satisfied. Last December I bought a GFP-345 and a GFA-535II. I was impressed with it for such a little guy.. has a ton of current. The 555 is just like the other two, but it just keeps going.. The 345 is pretty much the same as a GFP-555 but with no tone controls. I think mine has the Phono option too. But.. not into phono..

But I have a decent AVR with pre outs, now I have 2 power amps, 2 subs with about 650rms between them, and a variety of pretty decent HT speakers.. Def Tech BP10B, Energy Connoisseur C4, ProCenter C2, BP1.2X surrounds. I keep forgetting about my Tannoy towers, they would be good surrounds, or side surrounds.. need another amp lol..

optimus pro LX7 fronts, CS5 centre, X77 surrounds(all Linaeum tweeters), w/ polk XT90 heights and a custom 12" mtx sub, run on a pioneer vsx-935 and my pc.
yeah its a little cluttered but it keeps the cats off and out of it.

"audiophile" might be a stretch, but i love em. just missing the towers now. theres a set in VA but no shipping. maybe one day...

$170 w/ tax and shipping. iirc, we (radioshack) sold them for $150CAN/ea in '98/99.

edit: seller sent me more pics, surrounds look good. yeaaah... not so much, see posts a little further down.
bodies got some minor scuffing, but whatever, theyre almost 30yo.

gonna swap these (LX5s) for the X77s and try those in place of the polks.
or maybe try these first, the 360° tweeters might be interesting as height speakers...

I didn't like my Massdrop 58X untill I got a few decent Amps when I first got it I ran it though Realtek. I guess Drop isn't going to sell on their site anymore so I wonder if their going to collab with other Headphone makers?

I picked up a 4.4 mm Balanced Cable today always interested what it would sound like for sennheiser. Sennheiser has a balanced cable on their site but they want 179.00 for it.

lol cables shouldn't be more than 20-25$. Everyone keeps wanting to sell snake oil.

Indeed. Cable is a cable, as long as it makes a good connection, is insulated (if necessary) and is correct size for the purpose IE not too thin in high wattage situations, not exactly relevant in low wattage headphone use. Their job is to just transfer electrical signal from point a to point b, do the same thing as all the tin solders and copper traces inside your amp which are probably all inferior to the cable hanging outside of the device... Premium cables are one of the biggest scams in audiophile world.

I have some high end cable. MIT Terminator 4 speaker cable, Terminator 2 interconnects, Monster M850i interconnects, and CNESS Amazon stuff. I could not spot an ounce of difference between them, using one for right, and another for left, no difference. So now my rig is entirely wired with cheap Amazon CNESS brand cables. 12awg for my speakers, and Monster clones for my interconnects. I say that because the RCA are Monster units lol..

The one "upgrade" that I made was using some rubber sticky domes that I got from Amazon and gluing them to my Vegas, and resonance be gone.

FWIW I got my high end cables back in the early 2000s, some of the connectors are a bit broken and jackets torn a bit. Now I get no more feedback unless I use analogue from my computer.. I have to use my ground loop isolator.. so using optical to a DAC instead.

Even that cheap shit FOSI 2 pack stuff sounded ok.

And the truth shall set you free... lol.

pretty happy with this setup. they sound really good as surrounds too, so now i want another set...

looks like im going to be redoing the surround rings sometime soon. guess i cranked the floyd too high, again. whoops.
top left has a hole and showing more wear, the right has some spots showing wear like the section on the left too...

got 4 as my "ocd" will probably force me to redo the X77 rears just so all the drivers are the same, even though those are actually fine...

welp, that bad spot blew out, so i guess ill have to get around to doing that sooner rather than later... (thought i had a pic, will add one later)

also setup some rear backs using my old Merak MB4 surrounds (made in canuckistan, by Axiom, quite rare now it seems) for 7.1.4 using a Fosi V1.0G 50wx2 mini amp through the preouts, and moved my X77s to the sides. its friggin sweet!

I use JBL Studio 790's, PSA 750 Sub, and Ascend 340SE Up here for the fronts, some cheap outdoor tilters for my sides near me at the couch
Downstairs is much different, and more powerful.
I run everything through my Denon AVR, including my desktop.
Sounds good enough up here.

Just picked up the KEF LSX 2 LT's on sale for $500 via costco. So far so good. Digging them. Using them on my computer desk and needed something smaller. My speaker stands for them come in tomorrow, but for now just putting them on some foam pads. They sound really good.

those would make some bitchin surround speakers...
That is the future plan. The will be driven by the 535II, bigguns up front on the 555, and I have a 200w center speaker, that will get plugged into that Outlaw 2200. I just need either a modern AVR with preouts or a surround processor, as my NAD T748 has handshake issues with my TV as the amp cannot do 4K, and I cannot do 1080p lol.. concessions were made. I also have my Definitive PF-700 12" and my Monitor Audio FB-210. Right now they are just waay too much.. so they are put away for now.

This man knows how to party.
I don't even drink anymore.. but I smoke about an Oz every 2 weeks.. to maintain sanity.

Just picked up the KEF LSX 2 LT
I love KEF, I almost bought a pair on FB but I have too many speakers right now. I still have a 7.2 setup piled behind my couch.

I like them a lot. I'm curious how they stack up to other nearfield powered sets. I'm not sure they make sense at msrp for desktop use. But for $500, I'm willing to give them a shot. I will say this. If you like thick bass, these will leave you wanting, even in nearfield.. Luckily I have a SVS Micro 3000 that needs a job. Powered on, no sound, they are dead quiet. Absolutely nothing, even at high volume. Super low/no existent noise floor. Anyways, gonna hook up the sub now and I'll report back.

I'm a KEF guy, too. Owned the LS50, LS50W, and LS50 Meta before switching to my Adam A7V.
