Razer DeathAdder 29.90 @ GoG@mer

I know you are talking about the DeathAdder but my copperhead is double click impaired. It's almost impossible to not get a double click even when you hit in once. Does that sound like a similar problem?

Interested in this WD40 thing. I retired my copperhead. I'll at least give it to my cousin if it isn't trash.

Yes, exactly! When I got my DeathAdder, after a couple days only, I would click once on a menu in Windows but the thing would click twice. Was driving me mad. I purchased it with live.com cashback so I was a bit hesitant to send it back, and I wanted to find out the problem anyway.

After I soaked the clicker with WD40 it hasn't happened again a single time. Just soak it, let it sit a few minutes, click several times with a piece of plastic, add another drop, repeat about 5 times. You want the clicker to be setting in a bath of WD40. The way I applied it was getting cotton and soaking the tip with WD40 and just letting it drip a bit on the clicker, so as not to make a mess.

What I meant to say is that the Copperhead, based on just pure technical specs, should be better than the Deathadder. I use 1600 DPI so anything above that is too much for me anyway.

I'm still curious as to how the DA "wrecks" every other mouse out there though.

There's more to a mouse than the maximum DPI. If I used my DA on max DPI it would drive me crazy....

How would high DPI help you?

Yeah, I love playing sniper in 2142 or whatever FPS has good sniping in it. 99% of the time 800dpi is plenty high, regardless of what marketing hype and "spec-chasing" enthusiasts would have you believe. :p

1600dpi, or whatever the DA has is more than sufficient for most. If not for you, or you somehow magically notice the difference because you're way more sensitive than everyone else then I guess you need the Lachesis with 4000dpi. (by the way, you very well might be able to tell the difference, if so then it's probably worth it to spend more, but this is still a fantastic mouse for that price.)

Go big or go home. :D

To anyone complaining about the DPI, this mouse supposedly reports movement twice as fast as other gaming mice so 1800DPI from this mouse is comparable to a 'conventional' 3600DPI mouse. Take from that what you will...

Same here, never liked my 518 in terms of comfort for long gaming sessions. And as for on the fly DPI switching I never used it in games with any mouse I own; in any fast paced fps trying to switch dpi is a death wish IMO, unless you camp with sniper rifle or something. Actually with the way the dpi buttons are set up with 518 I had to lock in a single dpi setting through Setpoint to make sure I wouldn't accidentally switch it during gaming. In terms of comfort though G9 is great for me, but I still find the woven cord a big con.
I agree. I never use the on the fly DPI buttons for gaming, but they're great for Photoshop. :) I ordered on of these DeathAdders so once I get it it will be my new gaming mouse. My G5 will be my Photoshop mouse.

I bought this a couple of months ago when Circuit City had these on sale for $25. Coming from a copperhead, the Death Adder just feels better in my hands because I'm a righty.

No offense to Kyle but why would he design a mouse and how would it be any good just because he made it?

^ whoosh goes the concept of sarcasm over your head

whoosh!

B/c hopefully he'd actually make it gamer oriented and not general tard public oriented?

Why not just get a DeathAdder?

I've got it and played around with it. Nice comfortable shape but firmware sucks, need mouse weights and mouse feet are way too small for effective tracking.

Just out of curiosity how many diff gaming mice have you tried out/owned?

I got a sidewinder mouse if you wanna trade  I could use a backup because I have a feeling I'll manage to break this mouse eventually...

Over 7 years, about 3 to 5 mice. Before I got into gaming rigs we used to use these old old old Microsoft mice:

Then I got into gaming mice and people have convinced me to try the DA, I feel like I have more control already (at least in my TF2 practice anyway I feel a bit better than the Lachesis and Logitech VX). To be honest, I used to play Halo 1 online with the above Microsoft Optical mouse, I used to do just as good...makes me wonder if all this money into gaming mice really helps or not.

I've bought / tried out the following when I was heavily gaming cs:s / scrimming all the time : 518, diamondback (crap), steelseries ikari optical, g9 and sidewinder. I play on probably one of the best hardmats, Razer Destructor so its very easy for me to notice pros/cons with tracking, snap shots etc. Got DA just to try it out and see what the huplah is about and then probably use it as my work mouse. There's great gaming mice out there on the market now, namely 518, g9 and ikari IMO but none of them bother to combine comfortable shape, good button placement, good tracking capabilities, weights and firmware all into a single package.

I play on the Razer Destructor too :D!!! Had it for about a month now, got it with my Lachesis but that sucked major ones even after giving it a month of time. I noticed my Destructor stays really clean, which is great about it. Only thing I don't like about the DA is it doesn't have the on-the-fly DPI +/- like the Lachesis does....

Cool, Destructor is a great hardmat. Just a tip, I use windex window cleaner to clean mine every once in a while, keeps it in mint new shape and doesn't degrade at all.

Okay I've been wiping it with just a damp cloth every now and then but I'll try the Windex out definitely. Do you ever clean the bottom of your mouse? I flipped my DA today after about 3 days of use and noticed it has some weird looking buildup around the feet...

Yeah, can't afford to have any of that crap slow me down.

A hardocp themed Razer would be sick. Would hopefully look better than this PS'ed Guild Wars edition Razer though. :p

Hard on gaming mouse? lol The first gaming mouse that makes porn and gaming multitasking possible!

So
Shape
- Somewhere around DA or Steelseries Ikari
-Cord should be thin, light and non woven!
Buttons
-As many as possible, at least 2 on the left side and maybe 3 on the front.
Software
-Something as close as possible to logitechs firmware, with lots of profile/ macro/ dpi settings.

Also needs a glowing [H] logo.

When you figure out how it works please post here.

its pretty easy. assign number 3 to on the fly.

deatheradder.jpg

when you want to adjust it you need click down AND THEN scroll.

it will allow you to adjust the sensitivity in the middle of whatever you're doing/playing.

edit: you can assign any button to control on the fly sensitivity. you click the button and use the scroll wheel to adjust it.

i chose number 3 because its most convenient for me.

I agree. Would also be nice if it had weight adjustments like the g5/g9.

Ok...click the button then scroll. Will try when I get back home, I could never get this to work with my diamondback 3g though.

Yup..that too.

well i know for a fact it works on my DA.

It just bothers me that when people can't figure how to get on the fly to work they just assume the mouse doesn't have it

And in this thread its been said at least 10 times!

Its not like Razer included any clear documentation on how on the fly works.

i agree razer could have made it easier to figure out.

but still because someone cant figure it out doesn't mean they should post that the feature doesn't exist.

some people might avoid this great mouse because of that false info.
