$2000 for a PS3... I highly doubt you will find enough suckers for that price. $2,000 can buy a top of the line PC. $2,000 can pay a monthly mortgage on home in california.

On my way to work today I spotted a butt-load of campers at the Best Buy in San Francisco (the one on Harrison). There were at least 30 people there, and I'm just thinking... they have at most 8 consoles to sell-- do they not know?? :confused:
 
after what i just found out i am not sure if you can trust what they stores tell you when you call. i just stopped by our walmart and could not find a line for the PS3 anywhere. i overheard a customer talking that the store only received 6 and that they weren't letting people line up for it. so i went back to work and decided to call and talk to someone in the electronics department just for the fun of it. well someone aswered and i asked to be xfered to that dept and they were like "is this aobut the ps3?" and i said yes and they said "we only received 6 and there is already a large line for it." i'm like ok, so where is the line cause i was just there and they didn't answer my question. so i either missed where the line was or there wasn't one and they are just telling people there is one so that they don't come into the store and camp out. anyway, just thought it was intersting info for anyone else out there.... :cool:
 
I just watched an auction end for over $2,750....prices are slowly rising and will be over $3000 by the end of the night.

I think the low end selling price will be 1500$ with the high end average being 3000$ or more. The PS3 is certainly a cash cow for those that will get one. With only 285k in the US, lots of hype and fanb0yz it is inevitable that prices will be insane on eBay. The 360 sustained minimum 800$ auctions with 300k units on eBay. The PS3 has a larger fanbase, more anticipation, and less units which will only equate to much higher prices.
 
LOL, that news story about the people being shot with BBs at a Best Buy? That's in my town. Nothing like rednecks loose in Lexington...

And ebay is going insane too... go figure. Oh well, I might not have any money, but at least I'm being entertained :)
 
Hey all, here's an update for SoCal/Orange County, CA:

All targets, kmarts, cc's and bb's have a line at least as long as the # of consoles in OC. I just talked to a girl who is 12th in line at a target that is getting 8 total. She's not very happy :p

Also in the Tustin/Irvine marketplace: Irivne police just escorted every camper off of the property. This place has a circuit city, a best buy, a target, a kmart, a toys-r-us, and a compusa in one shopping center! Every camper at every store was told to leave (or else). So all the campers are...in their cars i guess? Supposedly police will be asking ppl to leave if they park for too long as well. Police will be patrolling all day and all night long. "Official Lines" for most stores start at 7am. Damn is that gonna be bloody.
 
Man, people have been waiting since like last friday!!! These people really have no lives....A whole WEEK?! Sorry, but thats overkill. I could understand waiting like 6-8 hours for one, but anything more than a day and you need to rethink where your life is going :D

I was gonna head there right after work was it was 5 minutes from my job and got a phone call from my mom saying she got me a spot at circuit city so lost my chance of getting one.

Bur both KMARTS I called have two :p but people were there

I bet the majority of people that waited for 2-3 days in line are not going to get their consoles :eek:.
 
I work for Sears in Seattle (1st ave store) and we are getting exactly 0 PS3s. NONE of our stores in the district are getting one. K-Mart is owned by the same company that owns Sears, so I doubt they will be getting many either...
 
Tent: $50 dollars
Portable Toilet: $70 dollars
Food and Drinks for 5 days: $80 dollars
Camping outside of a Best Buy for 1 week and not getting a PS3..... PRICELESS
 
What cracks me up is there are 38 people in line at my BB as of 8 PM last night. Including a couple guys I recognized who live across from a buddy in a UW dorm at the 34th and 35th spots. There is no way they will get one. Town of 200,000 people with another BB on the East side, this location will get 20 maximum.
 
Why do they wait then? If I wasn't within the top 8 then I would never bother. Would be pretty funny if the people that quit their jobs to camp never got one.
 
Theres people out here that have been camping at BB and walmart since Tuesday. There crazy IMO but these have been selling like mad on ebay. I just saw one go for $4k. INSANE :eek: I was going to try and get one to resell but its not likely now.
 
$4k will buy a used car lol. Hopefully we get a ton of suckers buying at $4k they dont deserve that money anyway.
 
It'S up to over 130 now.

The store manager came out yesterday and today to talk to us. They got approx. 130 units and most of those will be for the midnight launch, with the min. available for the 8am launch.

A lotta people forget that parents will do just about anything to please their kids, doesn't meen they dont deserve that $4k... I'm sure they got plenty more to burn away :p
 
Sweet, my friend just called from Circuit City. He said that they are going to have 7 units for sale tomorrow at 8AM and there are only 2 people in line. I'm leaving right now!
 
Glad I already have one to pick up tommorow.
All of the lines around here are full since yesterday.
 
Besides making money off the damn thing, whats the point of getting it? There are like ZERO good launch games....atleast with 360 there was PGR3, CoD2, and PD:Z

Seems like the good games arent going to come out till next year
 
yep I want one bad but am completely willing to wait... My pc keeps me happy enough for now and I'm too damn lazy to wait in them lines especially considering most places will recieve 10-20 units...

Seems to me like 98% of the people wanting it want it to sell on ebay! And your absolutely right man, no good games + bad press recently...I cant figure it out
 
Someone will die before Friday morning. It's like someone has to get killed on a reality TV show before they will have to make drastic changes to the system, same with video game console launches. The PS4 will be sufficient in quanitity to avoid death.
 
it's mostly stupid parents wanting to buy it for their stupid kids, because the stupid kids think it's some super computer.
 
his store probably didn't get the preorder allotment they were going to get, and his got the axe :p
