Need help. When I turn on my projector, my 24" monitor goes out of portrait mode. When I shut the projector off it automatically goes back, any ideas on solving this??

It looks like you're using the EVGA Geforce GTX 560 Ti GPU, correct? And you're trying to connect 3 devices to that one graphics card? Here's the thing. That GPU does support the Nvidia surround technology (3 or more monitors), but you will need a second GPU in SLI with the first one. Even then, that card in sli only supports three monitors, so you can only use three of the dvi connectors. Unfortunately, there are even more requirements. All of your displays must have a common resolution, refresh rate, and sync polarity. So all of your displays must be at 1920x1080 60hz, or whatever your resolution is. So basically, this translates to you can't do what you're trying to do with your current hardware. The reason that you can't use all three ports on your GPU is that the card only has two display clocks. One clock is for one of the DVI ports, and the other clock is shared between the other DVI port and the HDMI port. I know, it sucks, and it's disappointing. I've been there. Here's a link to Nvidia's page on Surround: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dv-system-requirements-surround-technology.html

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info, I should have said what hardware i'm using. The 560 is running the Westy and projector as a clone, and the 24" in portrait is running off a nvidia gt220. When i'm just using the 37" & 24" monitors everything is fine, when the projector is turned on and is recognized all monitors work but the 24" in portrait goes back to landscape mode.

I think it may be a Windows' display limitation.

Hmmm, not so sure on that one. It may be a limitation in Nvidia's driver or Windows's display settings. However, I would go through and check all of your settings in both windows display properties and the nvidia control panel when the projector is on, just to make sure that it's set properly. Honestly, it just sounds like it's not configured properly for when the projector is on.

If that doesn't work, you may want to update your nvida driver to the latest version, and then update the bios, chipset drivers, etc. After that, I would say make sure that both of the devices on the 560 are set to the same resolution, and not set to auto or anything like that. All else fails, you could update your nvidia driver to the Forceware version, which is Nvidia's unofficial drivers. hope this helps :)

Here it is updated.

I took the picture with my iPhone 4 so it may not be as sharp or clear but my girlfriend's asleep so I didn't want to wake her up.

Here's a better picture of it.

Magpul FTW!

Some of you should grow pair. They are just guns.

Even I think it's a bit excessive. It was obviously done for show. IMO if you're gonna have a gun out like that it should be on a wall mount, not just lying across the desk. ;)

I'm as pro-gun as you can get and own several, but always  when I see them as workstation e-peen.

1 picture 2 different threads covered... its called multitasking get over it.

I still don't see why it bothers people when someone has a firearm on their desk or in the picture. Really, man? Get over it. It is not an 'e-peen' thing. People love their guns/rifles.

Unless you work in a gun shop, they're largely irrelevant to the thread topic. Guns aren't toys. I'm a hillbilly from Kentucky, and have my share of guns. I take them out when I intend to use them.

They're also largely irrelavent to [H] in general.

Not sure why I still have my mousepad on my desk as I rarely use it anymore.

Just moved back into this room after we got the floors done so cabels are kind of messy and I still dont have a mat to put under the rug to keep it from moving all the time.

That is a beautiful view. Is that the window behind your monitor? Are there other windows I the room?

Thanks. Yea, that view is behind my monitor which is actually the side of my property and ends pretty much where that bench is. You can kind of see my neighbors house behind the trees. The other window in my room (or any other window on the backside of the house for that matter) overlooks the creek and looks into the hill which is really just a whole bunch of redwood trees.

How are you liking the Bulldozer case?
It's an actually decent case for what it is. I like the concept though I wished that their rear were actually cut for 120mm fan and not using some shoody adapter - this gave me a bit of headache mounting my H50 on it but I got it on and modified it for my own need.

Your gf is ok with that wallpaper? :p

She doesn't like it but she said this, "I don't like it but what can I do? It's your computer and as long you are not having an outside relationship, no big deal - I still don't like it."
