They were likely re-used from the 360 version. I think there was a thread on the AW forum about that and it was a locked thread so they probably didn't care for people badgering them about their choice of cut-scenes.I heard the cut scenes are low quality and blurry!![]()

thinking of getting this, i'm interested in hearing opinions on gameplay. i dig the setting and atmosphere from what i've seen.
Got it off impulse with a gift card. Runs well. Very nice PC game. Only thing i hate. I cant turn off motion blur![]()
-w screen width (e.g. -w1280)
-h screen height (e.g. -h720)
-window force windowed
-novsync disables v-sync
-showfps shows a frame rate counter on screen

-nosound disables sound
-cleancloud deletes your save games and settings for Alan Wake from Steam Cloud
-noblur disables the in-game vector blur
-locale=xx forces a selected locale. This should not be needed as you can change it from the Game Properties in Steam. Note that you have to have the locale files downloaded from Steam and that happens only when you choose the language you want to play in from Steam.
You are a god send.
Storytelling being one thing...what do you mean by "broken gameplay?"
My all-points-bulletin on how much of a failure Alan Wake is.
- repetitive, bland gameplay that does not evolve, develop or improve
- terrible combat system with an extremely picky and unreliable "dodge" mechanic, and provides challenge by forcing you into tiny boxes with invisible walls and bad camera angles so dodging enemies becomes harder.
- game strips you of all your weapons and items at the end of every "chapter", giving no sense of progression or achievement, and no incentive to save ammo
- Alan Wake has the fitness level of a morbidly obese 50-year-old, and when you really need him to run (like during a chase from the police), he insists on doubling over with an attack of emphysema every three steps. Yes, I know he is a writer and not a marathon runner, but in the instances when adrenaline should be making him run faster and for longer than normal, his fitness level drops to zero and well below what he can do when strolling around looking for switches and keys when not in danger.
- haphazard story-telling with tedious narrative repetition and a weak resolution
- the only thing "psychological" about "psychological action thriller" is having Wake tell you over and over again how he is going crazy, or another character saying Wake is crazy
- extreme levels of Twin Peaks and Stephen King wank, with constant King references/name drops, and cinematic sweeping shots of pine trees over and over again
- zero replay value
The distorted voice effects of the enemies was literally the only thing I enjoyed about the entire game.
Sure love getting a "game currently unavailable" message from Steam on a product I paid for.
EDIT: Now Steam won't connect at all. That's awesome. Love this shit. So glad this is the way gaming is going.

Thanks for the warning, i'll pass on this turd. This game came out years ago for xbox didn't it? Fuck these guys for going console in the first place i say.
Having said all that, excellent game for the value. I paid $23 for the Collector's.
It's amazing that the same people behind Max Payne 1 and 2,games with fun gameplay, came up with this. There's a lot to like here but some of the gameplay really is frustrating and needlessly cumbersome IMO.
I recommend people wait for the half off sales and such.
This is why I am infinitely glad that Remedy no longer has any involvement in Max Payne.
You are only as good as your last game.

That's one of the good things about playing an older title.
Hater's be hatin'.
Hater's be hatin'.
I also wanted to add this is a VERY Remedy game. Lots of parallels with Max Payne.
