There's absolutely no reason to do these rebrandings _except_ to mislead consumers. That's the bottom line. Anyone who thinks it's okay is a "moran".
We had a national scandal here a few years back where a chain of stores would take minced meat that was past its due date (and unsellable), rip up the packages, mix it with a half-new batch (if you were lucky) and repackage it. Out it went in the store the next morning as "Freshly minced meat".
