I tried it out. Meh.
Not going to buy it.

I agree; it burns the retinas. This might be one of the most aesthetically unpleasing games I've ever seen.
The geometry in the world seems completely illogical to the point that I question whether it was designed by humans or AI. Unless that is part of the lore, don't know and I couldn't be bothered to look into it further.
Let’s not even mention the dogshit UI. And one time I thought my game was glitching by puking brightly colored squares all over the place nearly making me blind and …. Turns out it’s just a game mechanic. This might be one of the most aesthetically unpleasing games I've ever seen.

So how are people feeling about the game so far now that they got a chance to play?
I love the art style and general aesthetics, they are on point. I like the concept way more too, overall way cooler than Arc Raiders IMO. I didn't really play too much since I don't like extraction shooters (I bought Arc Raiders because people were saying even if you aren't into these games it would be the one to convert you, but it didn't)
Maybe I'd get into it at a lower price or if I could do a longer trial period at a lower price. But then cheating would be so much easier and rampant so I understand a $40 barrier of entry. It definitely has much more appeal to me compared to Arc Raiders (I love that it is first person so you can't just camp extractions without atleast exposing yourself)

Did an elementary school class develop the style of this game and UI? It wasn’t even an elementary art class.

?Anyone want to bet on the popularity (player count)?
I predict that it will start out strong at 150k-200k players on release and then dwindle down to Tarkov/The Hunt levels of 10-25k after 2 months.
I don't know; there seem to have been a decent amount of players saying that they loved it. It wouldn't surprise me if it died ala Concorde but I figure that it's got to be at least as good as The Hunt: Showdown. It's one of those sweaty FPS games so it 'should' have a small community. Whether that small community will keep Sony from just shuttering Bungie is another story.?
I bet 200 users or lower by 1 week after launch.
ngl some of those comments I've been seeing on reddit supporting the game whenever it gets mentioned feel a bit like astroturfing.I don't know; there seem to have been a decent amount of players saying that they loved it. I don't think the game is gonna be one big dumpster fire like the forums make it out to be. Yeah it won't be as big as Arc but arc is literally like a hello kitty island adventure game, it is extremely casual. This is more sweaty, I expect a smaller community as well
Slay the Spire 2 (Early access) came out today and has 250k.![]()

I'd be playing it if it was F2P, but would probably burn out with the amount of cheaters that would bring in. Even tarkov has a crazy cheating problem and that game isn't F2P either.I predict a f2p model within 6 months, cancellation within a year.
Arc has had continued success because it’s a better game imo. It’s had its fair share of cheaters but they came into an already congested game genre and showed what you can do after the hype. It wasn’t luck and hype, hype can die overnight and we’ve seen plenty of examples of this.I think they would do better if it had been $20 at the start, same with Arc raiders. Arc just had better hype and more positives over negatives.
Yeah I agree, that is just scummy and a huge red flagI heard SkillUp (and others) mention that Bungie made a voluntary request to any and all to withold reviews for a month. The reason (excuse?) cited is that Bungie wants everyone to wait until this Cryo Archive endgame zone is released and then go for it. I have searched around and that all checks out.
I've never seen or heard of something like this before and I don't think it's a good look. I think they look scared. I think all gaming outlets should have declined this concept but some have not.
Sleazy... If they really thought it was that important to the game, they should have delayed for it.I heard SkillUp (and others) mention that Bungie made a voluntary request to any and all to withold reviews for a month. Full release hasn't broken 100k yet. We'll see if the weekend is any better. Sunk cost fallacy is helping it here, I think, compared to free-to-play Highguard which lost 90% of its players in one day. Highguard couldn't even break 100k being free-to-play.Arc has had continued success because it’s a better game imo. Now it’s full price. If we see this trend or worse… then this game will be fighting uphill real fast.
We shall see. I’d actually like for it to do well, I’d hate to see Bungie crumble.Full release hasn't broken 100k yet. We'll see if the weekend is any better. Good Bungie already went away years ago, this Bungie is trash. We shall see. I’d actually like for it to do well, I’d hate to see Bungie crumble.
