Of that there should be little doubt. This is going to be Concord 2.0.
They have been caught 5 times now. That live stream they did was brutal lol, Joe (the art director) looked dead inside. He's going to have the dark cloud of "art thief" hanging over his head for a long time, and that could be really bad for his career lol
But when a company has been caught stealing artwork 4 times and hes helps do it again I don't know what else he expects to happen.
Ya it's crazy! I honestly can't believe they keep doing itThey have been caught 5 times now.
I played Destiny 2 quite a lot there from Forsaken to the Witch Queen expansion. I've never really forgiven them for their sunsetting of the PvP pinnacle weapons and some other stupid shit they did. I haven't touched the game in nearly three years now and I don't miss it.Can’t stand a bungie game now. Destiny 2 was a huge let down for me.
It certainly has begun. We are seeing this with the giant mega-studios losing stock value day by day and mass layoffs hitting the industry hard. There is a clear divide between studios wanting to make good games and creatively bankrupt studios simply chasing trends for the purpose of dishing out dividends for shareholders. Ubisoft used to be worth 3 billion dollars and has 20,000 employees. Now their stock price is a shadow of what it was just five years ago as it releases one flop after another. Mismanagement, trying to appease everyone but the core fan base, virtue signaling, trend chasing, and design by committee are all practices that are coming home to roost with these larger mega-studios.https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulta...gie-morale-launch-worries-and-changing-plans/
I think this is irretrievable myself. Bungie has been in a downward spiral for some time now and increasingly the "Concord 2.0" talk is feeling more real.
No way this thing can come out in 5 months if ever. Maybe it shouldn't. Even Concord didn't have the plagiarism. That livestream yesterday was a disaster. They couldn't show footage because of this plagiarism and couldn't answer specific questions.
When they are using subjective vagueries and talking about "establishing baselines" a mere five months from supposed release they are in big trouble.
Like so many other things I blame poor management.
The gaming industry is overdue for a reckoning. Maybe it's begun.
I have got to say. Even though I know it's shitty; I'm 100% enjoying watching Bungie take it's lasts breaths. I was never a Bungie fan, never played Halo as I was fully entrenched in PC FPS gaming by the time it came out and back then, playing any FPS on a controller after being comfortable on M&K just wasn't something PC gamers did. It was not enjoyable.
I was super intrigued by Destiny 1's announcement, but the console exclusivity made me dislike Bungie as a company, and I swore them off from that moment until the pandemic. During the pandemic I gave Destiny 2 a shot using game pass, and I was genuinely hooked. The game play was fun., the graphics were good, the HDR implementation was second to none (it still is in my opinion) and overall it was a blast.
Bought the beyond light expansion on steam when my 3 month game pass promo was up. Soon found out that Bungie nickel and dimes their player base like no other company and proceeded to purchase prior expansions for the loot associated with them (luckily got them on sale for around $5 each so I wasn't yet burned). Pre-ordered the witch queen deluxe as I was incredibly hyped for the story and the raid. Had a blast all year with the witch queen expansion and pre-ordered the lightfall expansion.
This is where it took a massive turn for the worse. The whole expansion was a fucking money grab. It was part of the final shape expansion ripped out to make another expansion to bleed the player base for more money. Every story element was boring and made little to no fucking sense (it's 2025 and they still haven't fucking told us what the veil is! And every NPC treated you like you were supposed to know what the fuck the veil was).
I started to feel the disdain that Bungie actually has for their fans. How they would steal whole expansions away from players who fucking paid for that content. I quit before the end of light fall.
My experience with D2 opened my eyes as to just how shitty Bungie as a company is. Deleting whole expansions just to trickle part of that stolen content back to the players with a new paint job or perks on weapons in newer paid content. Even bringing back old maps with slight tweaks as newer paid content. The content vault is the single most disgusting thing any developer has ever done.
I will never give Bungie a single cent ever again. And I can't wait until they are put to pasture. Fuck Bungie, can't wait until you are gone and forgotten.
I don't disagree and to add, I think Bungie's disrespect of the players time and efforts is industry leading.I have got to say. Given the poor reception of the beta and all the issues with stolen art work, a delay seemed inevitable. Given what was said about the beta, I think that's a good thing.Bungie Announces Marathon Delay
Bungie has announced that its upcoming shooter, Marathon, has been delayed from its initial September 23, 2025, release date...no new release date was provided, instead Bungie said that the team would give players an update sometime this Fall as to how the game's development is progressing, and would share a new release date at that time...

I mostly agree with you. They could scrap most of it and completely retool the game but at some point you either have to Willow the thing or release it and try to recoup your investment. The problem with that is, live service games require additional costs just to operate them.this has flop written all over it...no amount of delays are going to help...
I still don't get how they thought that reviving an ancient franchise into a modern live service software was a good idea.
If it can even be called "revive" -- it already seems to require more life support than your average pope does in his final weeks.
But even MBAs have enough sense to realize a title is a dud when it does a hand selected focus group test and people hate the title. It's what happens when a corporation takes over and and MBAs decide what to work on instead of actual gamers.
Well, Bungie has been screwing up since before the acquisition so its not surprising their independence is getting curtailed.Ouch

CFO says in spite of all Sony's recent issues with live service games, they will carry on the strategy.

I think you've summed up the situation nicely.Given that people at Sony thought Concord was a good idea this isn't exactly guaranteed good news, either. Bungie is toast. I agree with others that Marathon should probably be abandoned. Destiny is clearly in cruise control/fill it up with endless grind mode so it remains to be seen if anyone is going to figure out they have an IP there worth something before letting it die on the vine completely. I'm not holding my breath.
None of those, its an extraction shooter like Escape from Tarkov, The Division's Dark Zone, Hunt: Showdown, Arc Raiders etc. PvEvP. You (or your team) vs AI mobs and vs other players. Details are light atm, though its usually a case of (1) kill/loot players or mobs, (2) make it to an extraction point without getting killed, (3) protect the extraction zone for a couple mins while other players/mobs target you, then (4) you get to keep the gear you extracted. If other players kill you, they can loot your corpse and proceed to an extraction point.I haven't followed this game super close, but what type of game is this? PvE with teams? Like Destiny 2 or Borderlands 4?? A couple real players, 2 or 4 play together in a group to go against the AI enemies like those games?

Anyone going in expecting a Destiny / Borderlands style gameplay loop will be disappointed.
I guess Sony is going to learn the hard way that trying to force a live-service game isn't going to work out well for them. They failed to turn TLoU 2 multiplayer into a live service game, then Concord, and it's all but guaranteed this will fail next. Their single player story-driven games were their cash cows before, and they need to just stick with that. But I guess since that's not Fortnite money, they're going to lose Fortnite money chasing it as they've already done with Concord alone.
FF14 is floundering also since the last expansion. Was never a good MMO to begin with.Sony must be kicking themselves over acquiring Bungie instead of Square Enix for that FF14 money.
