[H] In trouble!?!

I had to put on my tin foil hat to think of this one-

Ok hang tight, this may take some 'splainin Lucy!

First the players:

A secretive, mysterious CEO

A very slinky lawyer

A bunch of venture capitalists

The scene:

A smoke filled bar in the outskirts of Sarasota

Corp CEO:
Well lawyer dude, I want to stir up some controversy and make some cash... do you want in.

Lawyer:
Well, the payment on the ferrari is due (dang that things expensive) Sure I guess, whats the plan?

CEO:
My history is somewhat clouded in mystery but I have run many multi-million cough-yen-cough companies and I need some more cash, I'm going to say I've created this gaming system and initially seek out meager funds to get an office somewhere down here. Some website will trash the device and my reputation, since my rep is already shot the task should not be too hard. When he trashes me, You have some paralegal at a local law firm write up some paperwork that'll make everyone think I'm at war, it'll bring national media exposure, and venture capitalists, Then I'll go public and start offering stock and pocket a whole bunch of dough, while allowing me to go bankrupt with all the stock cash in an offshore shadow corporation.

Lawyer:
That's too simple!

CEO:
Well this is America land of the stupid investor and forgiving public

Venture capitalist choir (in unison):
yup yup yup, duh, uh-huh

CEO
OK! it's a deal, as long as you get a really good lawfirm to write up the letters.

Lawyer:
How bout mine!

CEO: as long as it has a official sounding name

Lawyer:
Sure it does

***** Later that night*****

Cool, the Lawyer sent me an email with the law offices webpage

*click*

WTF!

i just wanna know wtf kyle was thinkin puttin his full address up on the main page unedited, granted someone could just do a whois for the site but geez, make it a little more difficult than just leaving it up as a featured article

they never had the billions needed to tap into the console market in the first place... and [h]'s article was linked all over the web whenever the phantom console came up, which is why infifnfmdfimion (w/e) is probably so upset... they've got no chance with this console, sueing the [h] won't bring anything but more attention to the article, afaik hardOCP is located in texas and is protected by 1st admendment rights, and no slander was used in the article.

edit: Search for "Infinium" on google, hardOCP's article comes up on the second page, which is bad new for them.

Hey, I don't condone forum raids either...

But just for the sake of knowing, the registration needs no activation:D

I think Infinium Labs is just trying to scare off Kyle, if they had a real case they wouldn't have waited so long to take this kind of idiotic action.

Infinium will go down as one of the biggest jokes in history (along with SCO of course).

Trying to scare people and websites into saying nice things about their ridiculuous console isn't smart, its just sad and further validates everything negative thats been written about Infinium (in their dreamworld, apparently freedom of the press and speech mean nothing).

I think the best thing we can do for now is actively voice our support for Kyle and hardocp on forums everywhere, and click on lots of his ad links to help him pay for a good lawyer to go after these Infinium jerks and their "get rich quick" lawyers.

Notice the integrated (I assume) cable modem. That makes about ZERO sense. People with cable Internet already have cable modems and the Phantom will come with an integrated? ANY semi-intelligent company selling something like that would provide a standard NIC and maybe 802.11g as an optional feature. What happens to the people with DSL? What happens when cable ISPs won't activate the secondary modem? It gets more and more fishy by the moment.

Oh, any my posts got deleted from their forum for comparing them to Enron. I guess he's related to Ken Lay.

Also, read: http://www.1up.com/article2/0,4364,1486688,00.asp

It mentions up to an Athlon XP 3200+. I'm sorry, but if they were even remotely close to releasing this product they would have some set-in-stone specs or nearly so. I can see them having problems deciding between two different CPU speeds of the same type but going back and forth between AMD and Intel?

http://www.1up.com/slideshow_viewer/0,4618,a=116270&po=7,00.asp

There's the Phantom "running." Interestingly enough we don't see any cables coming out of it nor do we see it directly hooked up to that TV.

Kick@ass: Lol my posts on the IL forum also got deleted. I guess they didn't like my open letter advising all the IL staff (including Jason the moderator of their forum) to quit their jobs at IL before it was too late ;)

PS: Infinium Labs and SCO suck

I went and looked at that forum. Read the most interesting topic. Truth be told I was suprised to see it their. Posted a couple responses. Might be worth while to read the thread and post some actual questions. Perhaps they will actually give us answers.

Like their statement of sending multiple letters to kyle and [H]ardOCP. I asked them to post the scanned images of the letters for our perusal. We shall see if they do so.

These guys are full of shit plain and simple..

People are getting screwed out of there money too. They probibly only have a few demo units that are just custom build cheap plastic cases with fake inputs/outputs on the back and some leds to light up the phantom logo.

Even look at the back panel, the ethernet port is mixed into the powersupply lol... one thing I also noticed is the 10/100 port almost looks like its just a phone line jack:D
http://www.1up.com/slideshow_viewer/0,4618,a=116270&po=6,00.asp

Is it me or does all the lines look crooked?? I see unecessary gaps between the case and backplates etc.. Looks like someone fabed this who was only semi skilled.

Edit: poster above is right, why in the hell would they integrate a cable modem... you get a friggen cable modem with your service. Is the modem even optional anymore when you hook up cable internet?

LoL, Best bit of advice i've seen in this thread yet. Stands ready at the "Enter Order" link (j/k) But seriously though, this sounds like a serious candidate for shorting if i've ever seen one.

hehe

I just looked at the forums on phantom.net

Someone restrain me from firebombing all of the silly 12 year old fanbois on their forums..

I just saw that NIC now. That is such a stupid spot for one I never really thought to look there. That answers the question of what will happen to those with cable modems already and DSL. However, an integrated anything will only cause the Phantom to cost more and more.

They seem to randomly delete posts. Some people get away with flaming, some don't. Mine got deleted very fast and they were not even that bad.

Hardware and game fanbois aren't human - they can't be reasoned with.

I can't post on their forum anymore without having to have a moderator approve my posts. Since I asked some key questions that they will have no answer to, I sincerely doubt that my questions will ever show up.

Damned troublemakers are everywhere. :D

Yeah I noticed that there are a grand total of 0 negative posts. It seems they edit all their posts so it makes them look good... I would bet half the fanboys on their forums work for the company. It's all cheap.

my post;) :D :D :D

my user name is I.L. Sues [H] 4 Money.....a stroke of genius...and, uh, I also dont advocate forum raiding, uh, never, no, definetley not charge . I wonder if they will ban me...wonder what its like to be banned....

http://forum.phantom.net/index.php?showtopic=2829&st=150&#entry38474

This lawsuit is really something...a friggin joke. Think about it all you fanbois...in the legal world, why do you give a company 10 days warning in advance if you are ticked off at them? You do not. You sue right away. If [H]ard OCP's article is hurting I.L enough to sue, why would they want it out for ANOTHER 10 days? Just think of all the harm that could occurr......You would want it off the market now.

The sad truth, geeks and gents, is that all you people going

:worship: to :phantom: will be vastly dissapointed....

:ilabs: does not have the capital to carry out this lawsuit, and with the two owners and the recent stock deal, I forsee a further collapse of this business. :ilabs: is showing sings of a business on the ropes. Trust me when I say I know the signs. This lawsuit is desperation...it will end up further hurting :ilabs: because it will not only backfire on them ([H]ard OCP could even sue I.L. if they wanted to hard enough) but if they go foward with it (which they will not if they want to stay "in business") it will only cause more people to read the article that sooooooooooooo hurt I.L. This is a PHANTOM lawsuit, a PHANTOM company, and one hell of an aptly named console.

My interpretation of the current events is thus:

New management has taken over. They are currently taking potshots at the old management with this pile of garbage they are currently pursuing. By threatening a lawsuit at Kyle, they bring a lot of publicity to the table especially in regards to what problems there have been before. Later on, they will end up retracting their statements with some type of excuse and use the opportunity to tell the world how they are no longer the same company and are devoted to getting their product to market as soon as possible.

If properly worked, this could boost their stock prices higher with the new "niceness" of the company and get them badly needed press to get the word out on their product. Many people won't care about what has gone or realize what tactics were used and how. They just see a company that did wrong and is now making it right. And they have a new commitment to bring out their product.

I don't see this scenario actually happening. There is too much stupidity floating around for it to properly work. But there is a chance this could happen the way they want to.

In the long run, Kyle is in no type of trouble in my opinion. This is nothing but a marketing and stock boosting ploy.

You know Kyle, you should just tell Infinium Labs to go get fucked and call it a day.

Originally saw this at GameDaily
Bachus added that a planned meeting with Bennett at this year’s CES didn’t materialize because of an apparent fear by Bennett for his safety.

What an idiot this guy must be, that comment can really cause problems in any court.

That is if he had any balls to take someone to court:D

Oh it is even better. That IL guy that Kyle did the article on is posting in the thread now. I have met people that are intelligent and successful. I know how they operate and speak and present themselves. This guy IS NOT that kind of person. He is a marketing A type personality.

He is a good salesman but has no real product.

So the shit might hit the fan yet,

EA is being contacted about using NFS with a no-cd crack as well which supposedly was playing in a looped demo form at an event. I am sure they have no licenses to do this.

Also RTCW was demo'd on the unit again wqith no CD or permission. ID is being contacted..

And finally Nintendo has been contacted about Infinium using Metroid Prime screenshots for displaying how the system works and what the GUI is like.

I smell a shitload of Copy Write Infringment a commin'

Hey if they wanna sue for BS reasons, its there call.

Edit: and to top it all off the console is nothing but a SFF cheap PC in a shiney case, supposedly it is made to stream games from a server... Sooo you have to buy the console for 300 bucks, pay regular price to order the games to stream (50 bucks + per game), and then pay 9.95 for the streaming service.

what a load of shit.

Well if you are following both threads. Please realise my posts in that thread are well.. SARCASAM... when I am being nice. In case your sarcasam filters were not working. This Tim guy is a riot.

"It's unfortunate our world has so much negativity. I on the other hand am an optimist; ... Tim "

I loved that.. it opend the door to this response...

"Well.. Obviously. What else would you be.

I mean it only makes sense to hope that a court will support your claim base on... ummm... based on.... well... as far as we know... unkind words? "

uhh?? I dont understand how that relates to what I said, I actually wasnt even directing the post to you at all, just informing the general thread whats happening with IL legal wise.

Oh no it wasn't at all. Heh. Sorry.

Just wanting people to know what I am up to if they go over and see me being helpful and stuff. ;)

Is it just me, or does it not say "sneak peak" on Infinium Lab's front page? Man, if these guys can't spell 'peek' right, how do they expect to win a lawsuit?
