Cool it man. They spelled "peek" correctly. That's what they are trying to do, right? Hide and seek? Console or no console? Send threatening legal letter than hide? Sounds like the game to me.

EA is being contacted about using NFS with a no-cd crack as well which supposedly was playing in a looped demo form at an event. I am sure they have no licenses to do this.

Also RTCW was demo'd on the unit again wqith no CD or permission. ID is being contacted..

And finally Nintendo has been contacted about Infinium using Metroid Prime screenshots for displaying how the system works and what the GUI is like.

I'll go on record on this forum as well and say I think you crossed the line on this one. It sucks that IL is playing the game here. I fully support the article that was written here. I understand you being pissed about the same thing. What I don't get is what interest you have in seeing this console fail.

If this actually DOES end up in court (doubtful) we should set up some Paypal thing so that we can contribute a couple bucks to help with the defense. The site is free, why not find some way to show our appreciation? :D

Only related a little. Looks like Jason at the infinium Labs forum admin here in the Dallas area is willing to host a little coming out thing for the Phantom around E-3 time. I will be sure to post more as more is worked out. Right now it may very well be at GameWyze here in the dfw area.

People are getting screwed out of there money too. They probibly only have a few demo units that are just custom build cheap plastic cases with fake inputs/outputs on the back and some leds to light up the phantom logo.

Even look at the back panel, the ethernet port is mixed into the powersupply lol... one thing I also noticed is the 10/100 port almost looks like its just a phone line jack:D

thats just retarded. my guess is that they did not have anything to drill a square hole, so they just put the little toggle switch above where the "power" marking (allready was), and put the lan connecter there because it is was the only hole allready the right shape.

i wonder if they know that ethernet wiring should be kept away from AC wiring, and to do it like that the internal LAN wire or circuit would have to go inside the PSU box

also look at all those other connecter randomly spaced around on the back of the unit. any modern circuit board with multiple connectors would have the connecters on the edge of the circuit board (like you would see on the edge of a motherboard) not individually soldered with wires.

esp look at that s-video connector. when was the last time you saw a manufacured product with a connecter like that (note the big shiny washer lol) that is a connector you get from your local electronics hobbyist store.

also the power switch is a tiny toggle switch on the back? WTF dont consoles have a nice power switch on the front so console users (kids) can easilly find it?

look at this one
http://www.1up.com/slideshow_viewer/0,4618,a=116270&po=4,00.asp

they took an optical connector (or something that looks like one) and shoved it into a round hole.. scuse me but last time i checked square peg did not fit in round hole.

look at this pic
http://www.1up.com/slideshow_viewer/0,4618,a=116270&po=1,00.asp
photoshopped phantom logo the lighting is totally different than the ridges along the case. I bet if you searched a taiwan directory hard enough you could find that case for sale as a bookpc or htpc case. wouldnt you want your logo facing the user? "yes, but we had to put it there cuz the ridges were allready on the case and im not that good at photoshop".

peak.jpg

Nope, they're morons. Peek is wrong.

peek ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pk)
intr.v. peeked, peek·ing, peeks
To glance quickly.
To look or peer furtively, as from a place of concealment.
To be only partially visible, as if peering or emerging from hiding: Tiny crocuses peeked through the snow.

n.
A brief or furtive look.

peak ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pk)
n.
A tapering, projecting point; a pointed extremity: the peak of a cap; the peak of a roof.
Abbr. Pk.
The pointed summit of a mountain.
The mountain itself.

The point of a beard.
A widow's peak.
The point of greatest development, value, or intensity: a novel written at the peak of the writer's career. See Synonyms at summit.
Physics. The highest value attained by a varying quantity: a peak in current.
Nautical.
The narrow portion of a ship's hull at the bow or stern.
The upper after corner of a fore-and-aft sail.
The outermost end of a gaff.

LOL, even if the Phantom was real (which I doubt). It's going to have the worst games out there. I have friends who work at rockstar, electronic arts and a few other small game companies and NONE of them even know what the hell I'm talking about when I mention the phantom. "what is it?", "a console ...wtf?", "never heard of it."

The Phantom is a hoax and HardOCP called them on it.

Did I say I did any of this??

No, I didn't call EA or ID software, I am just informing that they have been called.

Nice big assumption though.

I was speaking more along the lines of what you had written on the other forum:

"I just called Nintendo and got ahold of a representative.

All he can do right now at the present moment is forward something like a formal complaint to the actual Copywrite Infringment Department at Nintendo.

From there he said that Nindendo will investigate it and decide what or if any action will be taken against it.

Although action probibly will be taken since the system is being projected to be sold and its not like a person or kid is doing this for fun, its a real company doing this and its making it appear that Metroid Prime will be a title on phantom which is ridiculous, metroid would never be on phantom in a trillian years.

Either way using that picture is a no-no, you cant be putting a picture of nintendos flagship game and displaying it in this manor. You can only use a game that IL has made or a game that IL has gotten licensing and permission for."

Your choice to do whatever you want. This, however, is stepping over that line. So once again I ask, what interest is it of yours to see the company fail?

I'm so there. Keep us up to date, thanks.

All I can say is

KUDOS to Steve and Kyle for taking the time to research and to report what they saw...

Bottom line is

If Infinium Labs had a viable product, Then the [H] review shouldn't have meant anything. let alone being the "possible" downfall of an investment opportunity..

If it was that shaky then ..LET IT FALL

hey they can always come back and prove them wrong (yea right)

They want to falsey sue Kyle for something stupid. And they are taking investors money and doing... what with it?

I'd like to see the bastards fall personally.

This is a common method to avoid self incrimination. I screw up, but it's your fault , I sue you and make kaysh:eek: and feel much better because you were the problem not me see?

Wow this is sad, not only is thier site laced with grammatical and spelling errors, but it also has a link (which is placed right in with thier technological "partners" (nVidia, ect.) to www.mofo.com, THIER LAWYERS SITE! Now how the fuck (pardon the language but this stupidity disgusts me) do people at Infinium say, "Let's show our legal power by advertising our lawyers, MoFo. That'll be sure to scare the pants off anyone who want's to slander us with true accusations of us not even existing!"

If I ever go postal, I'm moving to Florida first.

Thank you, that is how I feel as well.

If IL can't get a product out the door, they have a lot more to worry about than Kyle's comments on a system that is little more than speculation and a few pics of a "prototype."

I have my doubts on Infinium lab's ability to produce any evidence. But those doubts can be swayed. As a few of you may know Jason on Infinium labs was full of talk about how he lived in the DFW area and Kyle wouldn't hav to go anywhere to see the console and blah blah blah.

So having a connection that could prove handy I stepped up. I informed Jason that I too live in the DFW area. I have a friend that owns/runs the GameWyze chain of Lan Centers. If he wants I am sure that GameWyze would be a great safe location to show the Phantom to the gaming public to end a lot of debate on if it is even real. I told him to put up or shut up in essence.

Jason said in that thread that he would indeed put up and would be glad to do so. Since I have passed on more specific contact infomation for GameWyze and communicated with my friend and he is keen on the idea. Now we shall see if Infinium labs can execute or if they are well and truly full of shit.

Since then the subsequent thread has been deleted. So I posted a new thread just today. We shall see if Jason deems to respond or to even contact the owner of GameWyze. Only time will tell. If it comes down to it I will get them both on a confrence call to speed communication.

Oh he also invited me to lunch at Infinium labs location in Richardson. If I didn't work I would go.

We shall see what happens.

Well the console is real, they have prototypes....

The onlything is that they are ultra cheap Micro ATX computers with cheap custom plastic cases...

They most likely have the ultra crap onboard video etc... If he demo's anything it will be a regular PC game rigged on the harddrive.

They do not however have any fab plants, any means of shipping these things.. They have no server farms to handle the truely MASSIVE amounts of data these things are gonna be sucking up every month... They have no custom software, no licensed games beside a few childrens learning games..

thats what it boils down to.

And Tim Roberts history says this, He will probibly hype this company up, get some investors money in his pockets, then sell the company to some smoe or other larger company and the other company will try to actually do something with it but in the end find out the whole idea of this thing isnt possible in this day and age.

Essentially he will get out of it before it goes downhill and crashes. He will have loads of money from it though, thats what has happened to all the other buisnesses in his resume. The fact of the matter is he has almost zero money INTO this project, yet he has taken millions in naive investors money, and possibly the money from the future sale of the company, man some poor sucker is gonna be out alot.

There is no way that the idea of the phantom is possible right now.

I mean who would even buy the damn thing if it were to all work?? Lets see, I will just pay 300 bucks for the console, 9.95/month for the service that allows me to use the console, and THEN I will pay near regular price for each game to download onto the console... I wouldnt even have the game CD... Tell me does that sound like a good idea?

My guess is that they can't afford to pay for the lawyers, so they offered advertising instead! :)

After further research, here are my thoughts:

Phantom will be a microATX based comp with retail availible graphics. The games played on this will be PC based, on a seperate network with specialized software running the backbone.

Infineon is trying to get developers on board with the "unhackable uncrackable" theory of a closed box system. It emphasizes no slippage through pirating. The problem with this is simple economics. If there are a total of... lets get crazy with this, 400,000 subscribers, there is a possiblility of 400,000 sales.

In the standard PC gaming arena, with a couple of million consumers, they have a chance of it being cracked and distributed, but a much larger user base.

So if you were the video game publisher, would you rather have 400,000 sales or a million copies of your game sold, and another 2 million copies pirated?

Well a million certainly sounds like more than 400k. Software is great for slippage because nothing is physically stolen. As much as people do not want to admit to it, they would prefer half of their software being "illegal" than no sales at all. There are people like me who are willing to spend 50 bucks for that new game and they rely on that. People have the pirated version usually NEVER buy ANY software so they are already excluded from market and sales forecasts. With online play being the big thing nowadays, and external authorization (as in the steamID system, or WON for you old folks) being developed, PC gaming will always be a notch above the phantom, regardless of how fast they upgrade the new models.

So they are aiming for the PS2-Xbox crowd. People who will pay 300-400 per gaming system and are uneducated in PC gaming. The point they are missing(or just not saying to investors) is that for an additional 200 worth of hardware the consumer will have a perfectly capable PC that they can do with as they please.

After digging through their 10-k filing I noticed that this was briefly outlined, but no detail was listed.

My bets on all of this is that Kyle unearthed a snake that was milking investors, it made headlines, and now they HAVE to try producing something in order to keep themselves out of trouble. A new person is in charge (funny he is from boca raton also) and some developers with experience have been hired on. I have a feeling that after this beta test its going to hobble along with 2 or 3 games for a year then go bankrupt.

As far as I see the article was written with complete accuracy, at the time. Now things have changed and they want the article retracted, since they arent looking as much like scam artists anymore. The fractured business model they are using can be considered more of an act of incompetience now, instead of criminal behavior. Either way my bets are for them failing, and from the hoopla(aka free advertising) being made will cause their operation to be critically examined before any new investors sign on.

I think I'm gonna get into this business of hitting up venture capitalists for cash. Because it seems that even after the dot.com bust, venture capitalists are still willing to throw millions of dollars at people without doing reasonable background checks.

So, HAY RICH GUYS!!! I'm building a cool new video game system that will offer PEEK PERFORMANCE!!! It will rock for sure, and total bonus here: I haven't been associated with any failed companies or shady dealings (heck, I didn't even have anything to do with that gecko that Steve killed!).

It's a can't miss proposition! Money now, please, thanks!

If this is going to be just an m-ATX comp, they will be going up against not only the PS and XBOX, but the SFF crowd. They will most likely have a hard time getting PC gamers over to the system, barring some unusual turnaround for the better.

Hey guys,

I did the Alexa search, and added to it.

All the "major" press keep calling [H] a "small video game site"

Yeah.. right.

I pitted [H], PA, IL, and Gamestop (to add perspective to the word "small", It's the massive Video game store conglomorate that has taken over Software Plus, Babbages, Funcoland, and more here in the Midwest.).

Alexa Scores

I'm guessing that the only reason that IL's line is even on the graph is all of us going there to read the posts in the forum.

That link is cool,

I tried genmay against [H] and Hardforums actually gets twice as much traffic, I would have thought genmay got more from all the spam.

damn Microsoft.com gets mega traffic.

Indeed... Unless there is substantial evidence to prove their claims (which I doubt) they are engaging in an all-to-common perversion of the law... sueing as a tactic to scare the little guy. Not to sound too Marxian, but essentially they are leveraging their monetary authority (which allows them to engage in long-term litigation and retain better lawyers) to hurt someone who merely revealed the truth.

If you ask me, whatever people do to them, within the bounds of the law of course, is justified.

Anyway, I support plot or however made those calls... when you're being bullied by a bigger corporation there is nothing better than getting an even bigger corporation to bully your tormentor.

Oh and anyone else notice the fact that their message board dropped off-line? Interesting!

I think my big problem is that I have seen nothing outside of the net...

No REAL-WORLD evidence. Just pictures over the internet and a nice web page.

We all know how truthfull the internet is... :D

genmay is has a user base of 15,000 (total)... so most of it's visits are from the same people, and lurkers don't care for spam.

Microsoft.com gets mega traffic becuase people have to dl patches all the time, and have there automatic update, time update, etc. which always is hitting up microsoft... add to that the default homepage in MSIE being microsoft.com, that gives them tons and tons and tons and tons of hits that they wouldn't get otherwise.

and now for some shocking results... MS vs. Google vs. Yahoo:
