Grand theft auto V thread.

They are most likely already working on the PC version and the ps4/xbone are closer in line to developing from PC>consoles then the ps3 was with it's system.

From a business standpoint it would just baffle me if they decided to not bring the game to next/gen pc, as they stand to only gain money from it, espeically from gamers that are moving to next gen and already bought GTA V who will double dip down the road as well as those who are holding out on it.

No, the PC version is already done (it is after all what they used to make all the trailers) and they're in no rush for a nextgen port. That's just how R* rolls. I would be VERY surprised if they announced it for PS4 and XBONE because those consoles were announced after the core development on the game was already done..

The number of people in these threads who are saying that while a PC version would undoubtedly be superior, they wanted to play it NOW, and they'll buy another copy when a PC version is released, is exactly why Rockstar are being so vague. Why sell one copy when you can sell two?

Personally I didn't pick up GTA4 until it was in a Steam sale. 120+ hours of game play later, what difference does it make now compared with someone who picked it up on day one? Absolutely none. I can wait. And if it never comes, I won't care, just like I'm not crying that I never played RDR, much as I'd happily buy a PC version.

Maybe because many people value the time over money?

Plus the simple fact you don't know what may happen. Something horrible could happen and we might not even be here 6+ months later, why put off something to save a little money?

I'm sure many people waited around for RDR, and here we are years later and no RDR on pc and all those people that waited either caved in or they missed out on a great game.

I mean the people who dont want it could always rent it. I've been renting it with free redbox codes since release

yeah -- im thinking about trading in forza horizon and an xbox wireless controller and taking advantage of the "30% more" for your trade promotion when applied to GTA5, would mean I'm only out of pocket $33 dollars to see what this game is all about

I was planning on selling the 27" HP monitor I'd have to play it on (only monitor in my house that accepts HDMI, don't own a TV, and my other two 27" are korean DVI-DL that have no built in scaler) grrr

I buy games when I want to play them, if that is on release then I get it on release. I buy/play games for the entertainment, I stopped giving a shit about the "greater good for gamers" a long time ago, it just detracts from the having fun part and makes way for bitterness and anger. (See nerdrage in threads here on hardforum!)

totally with you there. i have ~1 million games in my steam backlog, so i can wait to play it for $10 in a year when all the bugs are worked out and i can play it on my brand new AMD 10000 series. i also would love to play RDR (and would buy it if it was on steam on sale), but would also love to play dead space 3, tomb raider, bioshock 3, and a whole pile of other games i just dont have time for.

100% agree. More than willing to wait for a superior version to come out and pay less for it in the future. So many games on the backlog right now that GTA V doesn't even register for me.

Did anyone not learn with thr gta4 release on pc? Bugtastic and horribly coded. Waiting on reviews before I decide anything.

Who owns a nice high end pc and plays at low scaled up res on a console? Quality matters to me, its a core part of the gaming experience. Consoles are for kiddies, especially these old dinosaurs people still play on.

My PS3 and 360 hit the closet a year ago to be part of gaming history.

I'm just waiting for this game to come out on next gen. Not liking the frame rate I'm getting on current gen.

On the next gen consoles they could probably runs this game in native 1080P with a few more eye candy tricks and still easily maintain 60FPS no problem.

I was starting to think I was alone. Frame rate is killin' the experience for me.

Yeah the framerate is really bad at times. At Least this game is clearer and at a higher resolution than RDR. RDR looks like a steaming turd compared to this -- and that's not saying much honestly.

Yeah the frame rate at times is really unacceptable. Anything less than 30FPS is no good for me.

i ended up getting the game 2 days ago. Its really not that bad once you get used to it. A bit hard looking off in the distance and seeing alot of jaggies lol. But the immersion is outstanding. I love the music in the game.

Yeah. They did a great job with the little details. For example, I accidentally ran over Michael's ho of a wife. I got a text a little later stating that she just got out of the hospital and she expects me to pay the bills. Lol.

And then you have the son, who's constantly playing a COD like game and talking mega-smack to the kids. If you sit and listen to what he says, it's priceless. Sounds just like any COD match I've seen.

His son is voiced by Danny Tamberelli (The boy from The adventures of Pete and Pete who played little Pete.).

I just started a new game, and the first heist is doable with all low level characters(the gunman dies, so if you want to level him just get the better driver which should help I think unless the gunman's skill determines if he crashes or not). ~$1 mil for Michael and the lowest hacker is good enough to get through the store. I also just finally managed to get a damn fighter jet out of the Fort, that was a bitch since those missiles are pretty hard to dodge.

Yeah its kind of annoying how an enemy jet insta-spawns out of thin air and is suddenly behind you firing on you when you're over that base or trying to fly out of it. The trick to dodging their missiles seems to be looping (pull straight up) while holding afterburner. I can dodge those missiles all day just continually looping above that base.. Helps to keep an eye on rear-view so you can see them coming.. pretty quickly that gets pointless and I realize I'm not in a flight sim.

Yeah I know it's me saying this...but oh my fuck, the gameplay is terrible.

Characters move incredibly sluggishly and controlling them is not fun at all, and the aiming is possibly the worst of any kind of action game I've played in a long time. Never have I had to rely on an auto-aim feature like I have in this game...not even GTA4. Oh, and trying to aim at moving targets while you're moving in a car is extremely fucking painful, since you can't aim before you start shooting and there is no auto-aim during those moments at all.

If Rockstar spent even a 10th of the time working on how the game actually fucking controlled as it does on creating excellent, living worlds, great characters and entertaining dialogue, this game would be fantastic. Alas, I'll be waiting for the PC version before I buy this, because trying to play this on a controller with such a horrible aiming system is an exercise in self-flagellation.

So, I do kind of get where you're coming from. I find the shooting to be passable. Not great, but maybe not as bad as you describe. Trying to manually aim is quite a pain, but I suspect a lot of that is my relative lack of skill in aiming with analog sticks. I almost always prefer mouse and keyboard for that.

That said, shooting isn't really the focus of the game. Yes, it's important, but not as central to the gameplay as, say, Crysis. Driving is really the core gameplay mechanic, a task for which the analog sticks are (in my opinion) better suited to a gamepad.

Yeah if/when I get it for PC (assuming it comes out on PC, of course) I'll be switching between the KB/M and gamepad depending on whether I'm shooting or driving, like I did for Saints Row: The Third.

The pixel-sized targeting reticle is also plainly ridiculous. I changed it to the "complex" reticle but it made little difference - it's so faint on-screen.

Same here. This is just the way the GTA series has always been for me. I'll use KBM for everything on the PC except for flying vehicles. Just Cause 2 arguably had the best vehicles controls that I've seen and especially for flying vehicles.

JC2 did a lot of things right come to think of it.

A little bit here, too.

As much as I'm having I know I'm going to enjoy this a lot more on the PC when I can use KBM. For one, I'll be a lot more accurate with my shooting and making many more headshots than I am now. For me I'm alternating either between aim assist or traditional GTA aiming settings although I think I may just go free aim and say the hell with it.

Dual analogs can be good for some games but it's a hell of a come down if you want to do accurate shooting. At least it is for me.

I do the same thing.

Anyone able to get the ifruit app working? I managed to login once but it crashed after 30 seconds.

Damn, I love this game. I haven't been this addicted to a single-player game since Demons Soul and Dark Souls. Ignored my wife all weekend and I don't regret it one bit (although it has been three days since I've had sex...coincidence?).

For those of you that have tinkered around with the car mods - do the different types of suspensions affect the overall handling of the car? I just bought the most expensive transmission, engine, and brakes but when I upgraded to the most expensive suspension (racing) the guy said "watch out for potholes" and my car definitely does ride a lot lower to the ground. I didn't really get a chance to go out and see if I could wreck my car on potholes so does anyone know if it actually makes a difference and if it's better to use a suspension based on the type of driving you'll be doing with that particular car? Does this also apply to other mods? Also, is the 'Turbo' mod just a passive increase to the acceleration or is there a button you gotta press?

So...has anyone gotten that stupid IFruit app and tried it out? I really don't want to put another piece of trash on my already-crappy phone, but if it's actually useful, I'd like to know.

The pothole thing is just him being funny. The cars drive so much better fully customized. One of the better driving experiences I have had in a game like this.

Not sure what the other people above are talking about with frameloss and the like. Game plays smooth for me.

The game is pretty smooth overall for me. Really limited pop-up and slow-downs. Playing PS3 retail with add-in HDD (can't remember the RPM off-hand).

Only time the game had trouble when I did the submarine mission and I tried to surface. Really seemed to take a toll for some reason.

i see some massive popin on my 360 every once in awhile, but i think its because of my 20gb model, low density drive plus low rpm = lower performance than the 120gb model at the same rpm, and ive tried putting the play disc on a 16GB thumb drive to prevent reading form the disk but it didnt really help.

it doesnt do it all the time for the most part its fine but if i go driving into the city at full speed in a fast car the game cant keep up with the loading and i can run into instances where no buildings or textures or even roads have loaded in yet and i can fall a few feet below the road until the game catches up with the loading and it puts me back on the surface.

its not common enough to bother me but its annoying when it does happen, ive had a few items not load in until after ive smashed into them like a barrier too just to see it pop in after the crash.

GTA games have a tendancy to be at least 3 years behind the times when it comes to controls. The biggest issue is that the main characters are sluggish to control. I think the developers are obsessed with realistic walking speeds. That affects everything else you do. It makes issues with aiming and taking cover much more noticeable.

And is it me, or do helicopters control really poorly in this game?

Yeah, they can be a tad PITA like.

Also, for those wanting to make a fair amount of money - play the stock market. What you do in the game will cause stock prices to go up or down. Constantly blowing up a particular company? Their stock goes down.

I also went to the theatre .. watched a random robot movie for 10 minutes. How long are these things? So much effort for such a random side of the game.

Also, is there only one golf course? I've been liking the Tiger Woods like mechanics of the minigame.

That sucks. I've had no issues like that, and I've been flying down the streets in some pretty fast cars at times.

Best way to make money IS to play the stock market, but there's a slight catch with how prices rise at times, going to throw that puppy in a spoiler tag for whatever reason:

Basically you have these assassination missions, where you kill a key figure in one company, thereby causing the rival company stock to skyrocket. I'd recommend leaving the assassination missions for the end, or halfway through, where you'll have a nice pool of cash to work with for each character. Then, what you do is buy shares in the shit company, kill the CEO of the more financially prosperous company, sell all shares of the shit company. Bam, big money.

think people will start trying to do this in real life?:p

Only dumb part is the first one HAS to be done before a certain mission. I think Michael is currently at almost 3 million, and trevor/franklin are at about 900k for me right now.

BTW, bug I found(my brother told me about it and I checked it out), cars randomly disappear out of the non-bought garages. I had a car stored in Franklin's garage(vinewood house) and it was randomly just gone.

same here. i might get some pop-ins in far distance such as a tree or something, but thankfully nothing to the extent he is experiencing

i never liked GTA's garage systems, i prefer Saints where your take a car to a garage and its always there even if you get it blown up some where just pay a fee and you get it back to use again.

i dont care if the slots are realistic like a garage only fits 1 or 2 cars but i hate when you leave it some where or it blows up and its gone for ever even something as simple as paying for insurance thje company replaces the car and you pay a fee to get it back would be nice.

most of the cars i leave never show up at the impound lot.
