Forza Horizon 6

Just read that there are cars you can only obtain through wheelspins. The fuck are we doing? Is this because of them bringing the auction house back, to create artificial scarcity?

thats something ive never worried about in any version. it guess if you have the drive to 100% it thatd be annoying.

douchebag created

So the game still crashes for me, but I found out if I alt-tab out during the intro videos, it'll load. Super weird.

Game looks absolutely amazing, but the handling just seems off to me. Maybe because it's I've been playing F1 2025, but the cars in this just seem like they are floating on the ground, and even in the in car cockpit there are no shakes or vibrations, or even a sense of speed. It just feels like your car and the other opponents vehicles are all skating on perfectly smooth ice. I know what going 250 km/h feels like inside a vehicle, and in this game doing this it feels like you are doing 100km/h or less. Maybe Japan has the smoothest, most well maintained roadways in the globe, but it just seems like when you are pushing the limits of your vehicle there should be more visual feedback. Not sure what to think of this yet.

whats that?! ;) (i use mph for some reason...)
thats one of the things i dont like about 5, felt like every vehicle was floating or skating.

Same. It feels better off-road, but on pavement the Forza games feel like you're hovering or just barely touching the ground. Things are too smooth. A lot of NFS games do it, too.
I think it relates to them using real cars/brands. It's why the cars never truly show that much damage. No car manufacturer wants their cars driving around all fucked up or looking like they have a rough ride.

i primarily play motorsport (8?, the last one) and it feels fine, imo, but horizon games do it. 4 is bearable, 5 nope.

The UI in this game is baffling

Why does fucking everything need to take extra steps. Like oh I lost a bid, now I need to go collect my money instead of it just giving it to me. Or collecting the car if I win.

Oh I downloaded a design, better dump me back one menu instead of just keeping me where I'm at so I could pick another as well.

I haven't been into a racing game in a long time, honestly the last Forza that really made an impact on me was probably the original on the 360. I played another Forza game, don't recall which, but at one point I was drifting a fucking caddy limo into giant bowling pins and noped tf out immediately. As long ago as the first Forza was I think my favorite thing was that I could modify a simple Civic or S2000 to top classes and run every race. I liked the first GRID a lot as a side note, also the first two NFS Undergrounds but who doesn't. Idk, I feel like I could really into a game that's between arcade and sim (no wheel so only on a pad), particularly set in Japan with a lean on JDM cars as that's my jam, but I don't want to be forced into weird races in cars I'm not into. I also think racing games are neck and neck with fighting games with paid bs to access cars/fighters on top of an excessive entry fee, might as well be leaning into COD level seasonal bs..

Having fun so far just driving around crashing into mascots and signs. Done a few races, it seems like the difficulty going from Average AI to Above Average is quite significant. I went from trouncing them to coming in second a lot.

I feel like in FH4 I had to crank the difficulty because they sucked, but maybe I'm misremembering.

The original is a Xbox game that came out in 2005, not a 360 game.

Ah, must have been the second one then. Actually now that I think about it, could've even been the 3rd, I remember buying Halo ODST at the same time. Either way, long time ago.

I'm not usually one for co-op/etc but ran Convoys with my bro and his buddy last night for a few hours, was seriously fun.

There is literally a game called JDM that appears to do exactly this, lol

No idea if it has weird races, but there appears to be a focus on drifting. There's also TXR which reviewed quite well and brought a longstanding series back after roughly 20 years.

Apparently you can just kill the AI in those Touge events.

Accidentally smashed the dude off the fucking cliff and they never recovered... just gone for the whole race.

The Dualsense mod for adaptive triggers is really cool. I had a hell of time getting it to work until I realized you have to RTFM and set up the commands in-game.

I wish more controllers had haptic triggers. Kinda surprised the Steam Controller doesn't, but now I'm looking at the Gamesir G7 Pro.

New Event started today, I like how so far it seems like you don't have to place in PvP to get most things. I could be wrong but I seem to recall some stuff gated behind PvP ranking in FH4.

Super annoying you have to use 3rd party software to get adaptive triggers to function. I generally prefer XBox controllers but for a game like this the dual sense features seem like a total game changer.

The AI cheats so fucking hard in the rain

HOW do they have such insane traction to blow into a turn 40mph faster than me and not slide in the slightest

Edit: I had to lower difficulty, they were absolutely ridiculous in this one race...

i had enough ms points that it only cost me 84 cents for a pc game pass, so if i get bored or annoyed its not so bad. but i like it so far. might need to play with the difficulty too, im whoopin them. it doesnt feel as floaty/skatey as 4/5 either, but not quite where motorsport is, but it is more "arcadey"

The problem is they basically drive perfectly outside of corners, so you have to speed up and try to overtake them then, which usually just results in sideswiping one of them to get ahead.

Been playing it this morning and it's the typical "dumb but fun" racing that I've enjoyed in the last few Horizon games. Ditto with NFT, Dirt, etc. The strategy to cornering in all of those seems to be the same. You let the CPU take the outside and you plow into them at full speed, bounce off, and somehow end up cornering without slowing down.

I don't have an issue with it other than it feels more like you have to rely on cheap tactics than skill in order to win.

Won a race last night in like the last 20% where I knocked some poor bastard off a bridge and then pit another right after into a wall at 120 mph

I stood on a podium of mangled bodies and grim wreckage

I'm somewhat convinced you basically need to do shit like this on higher difficulties because they don't abide by the laws of physics anymore

I mean the way the AI is in this game, you basically have to do that to win some races.

Rain races are by FAR my least favorite. The AI is just absolute ridiculous on them.

They actually seem to be pretty bad on dirt, but any street race they just dominate. Also I am not sure how to win a drag race against AI, they destroy me every time.
