Formula-BOINC 2017

The Formula BOINC stats pages for the Marathon projects don't seem to be updating all that often right now. Any idea what the update schedule is?

That's a million dollar question I can't seem to figure out either.

Seems each project updates at different intervals and some projects only update once per day.
 
It would be nice if everything updated once every 6 hours or so.

Although waiting for validations is a PITA
 
Great. phoenicis is gonna out do me today. I've been trying to sign up for each project and grabbing a few WU's from each project in FB by doing it one per day. Little did I know that Milkyway@Home uses Nvidia GPUs and stole ALL of them from Collatz... Damn it.

Well that's not good; I would've thought every six hours, too. Maybe Gilthanis can send a note to one of the FB admins and inquire?
 
Skillz, Milkyway is one of the few projects that requires double Precision cards. AMD cards will out perform nVidia there. Just an FYI. Milkyway also has multi-threaded tasks available, so make sure you plan ahead for that if also trying to feed the GPU's....

I'm gonna have to buy another 980 Ti. Or a 1080 Ti. Drats.

Drats indeed! Looks like I'm gonna have to say uncle on this. Also, my 13 year old is suspending boinc for longer periods to feed his WoT addiction. I've asked him to be reasonable but he defeats me with a retort that includes 'bad daddy' every time.

phoenicis...you should just put a second GPU in his box and set up the cc_config to exclude the GPU used for gaming..then you can run it 24/7 on the one card (though never on the other)
 
I think I can do 45M in a day if other projects would stop taking the GPUs away. Grr

and my 2x 980 Sli Linux box crashed today. No idea why. Probably got too hot.

Anyone know how to control GPU fan speed on CentOS7? Can't seem to figure out how to turn those fans on 100% 24/7.

Yep, 45M should sink me nicely! Gilthanis has explained how he prevents the CPU takeover on the other thread. I've not tried it as I've not experienced the problem yet but it makes sense.
 
I also typically run without a cache. Sure there may be a few seconds waiting for a few work units every now and again...but I don't typically notice anything that really translate to loss of PPD. But then again, I've never had top of the line GPU's crunching work units in a matter of seconds.

I'm full time TN-Grid right now and will be for a while.

If you guys want to switch to something else you can.
 
I moved one box over to TN-Grid to see what it's like; especially as I don't have any credit on that project. :)
 
looks like we are sitting @ 6th place in yoyo but another sprint starts this thursday night and yoyo is not a choice anymore. Maybe we should just chill on TN grid as that is still an option for a sprint too?
 
There are more choices remaining then sprints. Also, if it is an option why would we chill on it instead of continuing to build upon our lead for the sprint?

Is there something else we should be looking at?
 
Add BURP, CAS@Home and ClimatePrediction to all of your boxen. WU's for these projects are scarce. So if your boxen happen to be able to get any WU's let them work.

I've been working on WEP for about a week now. I've got us from dead last place to 3rd already. Shouldn't be long before I take the #1 spot.

Look at the list of projects and put boxen on any of the one(s) we are not #1 on yet.

Sprints are irrelevant until 24H before they're announced.
 
Well, if it makes you feel any better, this is the system that doesn't like to run all 128 threads at 100% without babysitting. Which reminds me; I really ought to check for firmware updates and such... can't remember if I did that or not. Of course, there is this 2P 2680v4 that has been offline for ~1w. Maybe I'll move it over there, too. :p
 
I honestly do not know; but am wondering if it's an OS issue. If I go through all 128 freaking tasks and manually change the affinity to Group 0 (Windows 2012 R2) then the system will run at 100% or damn near. Just got through doing this and it's running at 98%. Did this with SkyNet a week or so ago and it did the same thing and, once set, stayed pegged or nearly so. Weird.
 
Oh, and despite being told to use "Group 0, All cores" it will actually set the affinity to Group 1. I'm not nearly smart enough to understand WTF is going on; just that it works and that's good enough for me. ;)

I've managed to avoid crunching a single Seti@Home work unit all these years. I'll throw my systems at this though, since it's the sprint.

BTW, am guessing both projects for Seti are valid for the sprint?

If you are referring to the applications, so far I'm only getting Seti@home v8. Nothing on AstroPulse v7. Both applications count to the sprint event.
 
applejacks, I'm running 1080 (373.06) in Win7, no overclocking on the GPU core and did not see any computation error. I'm running two tasks per GPU. Here is my app_config file that works for me.

Maybe try to set the GPU to default settings, exit BOINC, stop other projects and rerun SETI?

Everything is at default settings just this box errors out on everything seti . I connected it to Einstein and it started pulling in WU like normal and running them. Ive reset SETI tried new Nvidia drivers but its not doing anything anymore it just sits on seti with no movement, not even pulling in WU to error out on :[
