Fallout 4

So gameplay starting to get out there.

Dat animation quality:
Ip0jqHQ.gif

That's my biggest pet peeve of Bethseda games in general. It's been that way since like Morrowind.

They aren't an indie studio, they have a huge AAA Budget and also they boasted years ago about getting a new motion capture studio. So......why can't they actually make use of it and have good fluid animations?

I mean, just look at that gif, it literally looks like something you'd see in one of those "assest flipper" steam greenlight games with a shoestring budget and no real profressional animator working on it. So robotic and stiff.

Maybe they should have naughty dog give them some pointers or show them how you use a mocap studio.

mmm.. tall slender, those teddies, that ass.. gee i'd fuck that!

You guys gonna max any SPECIAL points right off the bat? It seems it could be a good idea to max intelligence just so you can level faster.

Ayy so this releases on a Tuesday like usual.. Can't take the day off until Friday.. Damn you work deadlines.

Seems the next major Windows 10 update (the one with Skype and Messenger) will also launch that day. Hopefully everything for Fallout will load up the night before so I can back my machine up.

I'm not looking at any of those spoilery videos...with 1 week remaining I can wait

If it's like the previous games, there should be ways to get more SPECIAL points in-game so it may not make sense to max any right off the bat.

when does the review embargo lift?...I was hoping for a DA: Inquisition or Witcher 3 deal where reviews came out 1 week before launch

EDIT: just read that it lifts on 11/9 at 8:00 AM EST

Every time you level, you can either raise a SPECIAL 1 point, or get 1 perk, you get to choose one or the other.

And there is no level cap so eventually you can max all specials and get all perks.

So maxing Intelligence is important since it controls XP rate if your goal is to try and get your SPECIAL up as fast as possible.

I believe you get 28 total points, so you can start with 4 across the board in each SPECIAL.

Which means you get 1, 10 stat and the rest would be 3's or lower if you wanted something else above 3.

My goal is to get Gun-Fu in Agility which is a 10 stat, and i also want high perception for the improved VATs accuracy. so i don't know how i want to distribute it.

I may go 10 int and 5 agility, and 3 everything else with 1 strength and then use the first 5 levels to up agility to 10 and then the next 3 to bring perception up to 6 then start getting some perks and mixing a Special stat increase like every 3 levels from then on.

Its hard to say, it may depend on how much Int actually affects XP gain to see if that is worth it or not.

edit-

I might actually change that up a bit to be 4 perception 4 agility at the start, so i can get lock picking early on as it requires 4 perception, i want the first lock picking tier and computer hacking from intelligence early on once i have those focus on upping agility and then perception SPECIALS and then work on getting other perks after that.

SPECIALs can go above 10 from bonuses (look at END 10 perk).
For XP, you could also go with no Int and Luck 5 for the triple XP bonus.

Yeah but there is no indication of what that chance is, so relying on it seems sketchy to me, it could be a 5% chance to happen or it could be a 50%.. when you are at 1 Intel.

And at least for me there are some juicy perks i don't want to pass up in, Intel.

Gun mods, high tech mods, computer hacking, and the rank 10 perk seems pretty cool that it slows time which kinda plays with my Gun-Fu ambitions to turn me into Neo or something from the matrix lol.. so when i dont have AP for VATs and im on the brink of death the slow time would assist me in taking out enemies in a pinch.

The Luck perk for xp seems to be geared for a lumbering brute melee player play style.

Based on what we know so far, it seems like INT is a solid stat to boost since it helps with so many other intangibles.

Well I'm guessing there'll be a bobble head for each one. So I'm thinking take int to 9, in order to take full advantage of the extra xp and get my other specials up, until maybe IDK level 10 or something.

My style is sneak and snipe so I need agility and perception, but there are perks I want.. well.. really in everything lol. I'll likely never use melee weapons but I like to carry a lot and definitely want to craft as well.

Damn, only one more week. People are going to be unlocking next Monday via VPN, but you gotta be careful doing that. I'm not sure if Steam encrypts all data between local client and their servers, so avoid free VPN's because you don't want your Steam password traversing a free VPN in clear text.

Short video but shows dialogue better (volume bit low though).

Also a nice surprise, it seems Bethseda has at least improved in some areas, the jacket he's wearing makes use of physics, which afaik is the first time Bethseda has ever had a game to do such a thing.

Hopefully they have a good selection of long dusters and jackets, maybe even a cloak or two to make use of them.

Or if we are super lucky a poncho, I'd love to have a man with no name outfit in the game.

I like the new loot box UI.

I read in one of the other leaks that Stealth mechanics are much improved, which is good news for all the ninjas out there. :p

The main takeaway here seems to be that the dialog system is allegedly overhauled, and you can't just have the same conversation and dialog lines over and over with the same NPC, and that choosing one may close off other dialog choices. In other words, your choice has weight and means something now.

This seems like a good thing, it sounds like conversations will flow more realistically. What I remember in F3/NV and Skyrim was that OCD-clicking every single dialog choice - because you believed there was some bit of important info you might miss if you didn't - was kind of exhausting and made NPC interactions feel like a chore that slowed down gameplay.

More i read about this game the more it seems like a step back from fallout 3/nv

I am willing to withhold judgement until I play the game myself ... for all people's complaints about FO3 graphics I found that moment when I stepped out of Vault 101 and saw the Wasteland expanse in front of me one of the great moments of gaming ... I also found the original ending (where your character died) before the expansion let you continue playing to be one of the more powerful and moving sequences in gaming ... so I will wait until next week and make my own judgments:cool:

Actually, I think people are over-reacting to what a few people are saying about the dialog system.

I think it's very similar to Mass Effect in how it works.

There are basically different choices. There are "normal" choices that you can pick to learn more about the world and then there are the "hard" choices, where you have to pick one and don't get to choose the other (because it's a choice you're making, not just a regular conversation choice).

As someone pointed out on another forum, if you watch this video:
https://vid.me/aA8m

He's able to go back and pick the "other" topics to discuss, he doesn't pick one and then lose the rest like some people seem to think it works 100% of the time.

Yeah, I'm still taking everything posted on Reddit with a grain of salt, since it's mainly been some dork twice-removed posting about some other guy on a spanish forum that's playing a copy early. Its probably time I stop paying any attention to Reddit links about this game..

Everything in these sandbox games just feels so pointless and the gameplay is too shallow to keep me interested....I used to gobble these games up (Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3, Skyrim...) but now I literally fall asleep just reading/watching anything about them.

I'd say it looks decent, but not great. Luckily in a game of this scope I don't think graphics matter that much. As long as it's as big as the last two, I can live with a slightly dated looking game.
Well, that and as long as there's no stutter. If the game isn't that demanding, maybe I'll give it a go in 4K mode. There are too many games I can do that with.
