Fallout 4

Thanks a lot. I downloaded a few from Nexus already. I do need to still do the expanded memory mod... especially since I downloaded huge textures. I guess I'll start with his stability video. :)

I'd say just go down the playlist beginning to end, unless that's what you're already doing. The time you invest upfront will save you frustration later on.

All of the perks (edit: not bobbleheads).

More details here.

Even more here.

Across the top, strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, and luck

Forget trying to bring up the mp topic for these sandbox Bethesda games. If they tried it would be a flop.

I'm think I'm sold on a day 1 purchase at the least (after much research). The trailer really gave me a warm & fuzzy mixture of FO3 & BioShock Infinite.

I'll definitely preorder Fallout 4. My metric is usually $1 per hour, so if I preorder for $45 I expect at least 45 hours of gameplay. I'll easily get 100 hours out of Fallout 4.

Agreed.

Truly loved the last two games, and I've been waiting for this for quite some time.

I hope we don't we have too wait too much longer. When is the official release date anyway?

Shut up and take my money!

I read somewhere 12/29/15, but I can't find it now.

I think it's pretty safe to assume nobody would launch a title like this four days after Christmas. October and November are the big months for holiday releases. If they want to be in the running for some of the cash that normally goes to the major annual releases, that's the time to launch. My money in on November.

"Fallout 4 is so advanced"
We'll see, Bethesda... We will see.

I'll believe it when I see it to be sure but I think that at least this should help dispel the "this is the same thing from 10 years ago" doom and gloom.

While I did enjoy 3 and NV, I would really like to see Fallout go back to a party based game with an isometric perspective. Fallout 2 is still, by far, my favorite of the series.

It will take a kickstarter gig from the Indie scene to get that I suspect.

I wouldn't mind a separate franchise, but I dislike party based game unless the other players are played by friends.

I even played the first fallout with a single character, Icewind Dale, BG... It's impossible to win without getting completely overpowered and even then; a chance. That's what's fun for me though, a story about my character not a group of them.

Yes, Infinity Engine games are nigh impossible with a single character given how the classes are balanced in 2nd edition D&D. With only a single character, Fallout 1 is much easier than IE games, but still quite challenging.

While I would have preferred another storyline from Obsidian, it's still Fallout and I'll play it regardless of how it looks.

Installing NV now. Never finished it, and all the DLC.

If you're not in XP then consider this thread on the Steam forums.

I'd go with at least the first three things listed: NVSC, anti-crash, and stutter remover. I can actually play the game now without it crashing continuously. There are some tips to make changes to the INI regarding CPU threads, but those never worked for me.

Once you're done with NV, DUST looks interesting, but I have yet to play NV so I don't really know what's good after the first playthrough.

I'm glad Bethesda is working on this one. I personally haven't been a huge fan of Obsidian's version of things(New Vegas and KOTOR II). The only thing I wouldn't mind from New Vegas is the companion mechanics, and the jury rig perk.

Story, writing, iron sights, weapon upgrades, factions and non-butchered lore wouldn't be too bad either.

I highly recommend stepping through Gopher's guides when it comes to modding FO3/FONV. Followed them and it turned out perfectly. It'll take some time working through each one, but will be worth it.

Here is the playlist:

Awesome stuff. After all this time my installs are a mess and I'm probably going to be forced to do a reinstall clean from the ground up. I'll need these to hold my hand for me if I feel motivated to revisit some old friends and see what kind of new tricks I can throw at them.

I wouldn't use the anti-crash mod if it's anything like the one for Oblivion, as all it's doing is suppressing the errors the engine is tossing. Eventually you are going to crash even harder than if you were to just let it crash in the first place, and it could result in corrupt saves.

I for most part hated the story and setting in New Vegas. I thought the story and setting in FO3 was better in every way. I thought the DLCs and side missions were ok, but I didn't like the main story line at all. The sights wasn't a big deal to me because I used VATS most of the time.

FO3 had a story? That mess of shit writing, massive logical leaps, huge convinces, and stupidity wasn't a plot.

The "story" in FO3 was pretty bad, but I definitely preferred the atmosphere/environment of FO3 over NV. However, NV was better all around when it came to characters, story, companions, etc.

Yeah I still liked it better then New Vegas. I just didn't find New Vegas that enjoyable beyond the DLCs.

I enjoyed VATS. It's an option, folks. You don't have to use it.

VATS was one of those things I rarely used but I liked having it there. Don't see any reason to get rid of it since it's optional anyway.

Compared to FO1 and FO2, the story in FO3 was a disgrace and it shat all over large portions of the existing lore. Story being good or bad aside, there's no excuse for butchering the lore the way they did. To be honest, that "airship" or whatever is hovering around in the FO4 trailer has me more than a little worried that they'll continue this trend.

No VATS would be a complete deal-breaker for me. It's the game's secret sauce and what separates it from other open-world games, including Bethesda's other titles.

They surely need to improve the non-VATS combat (iron sights in FNV were a great move in this direction) but if they ditch VATS altogether, it's not Fallout anymore.
