Fallout 4

In honor of Fallout 4 announcement, I loaded-up Fallout 3, grabbed a Rock-It-Launcher, loaded it with butter knives and went on a hilarious spree. Who knew a Deathclaw could be eliminated by butter knives? :p :D

October release, really? That seems REALLY sudden. I would take all that with a barrel full of salt.

Considering that it was posted a year ago and seems to line up surprisingly well with what we know right now, I'm not so sure. I've got my salt here, but maybe I won't need it...

I guess we'll keep seeing those posts until the E3 announcement, but... This game is being released in 2015, get over it.

That'd be awesome. Fallout 4 for my birthday? Yes please.

Wasn't Fallout 3 released in Oct '08? (ish)

I seem to recall that because my birthday is in October as well.

EDIT: Yup, Oct 28th, '08.

I'd say that release date is plausible at the very least.

This game will launch on October 23rd.
Take that to the bank.

You speak madness sir.

I'll wait till E3 before getting my hopes up.

But, if your predictions hold true then it should coincide with my Skylake upgrade perfectly....

Considering it'll launch about 4 years since they wrapped Skyrim, I'd say it's right on schedule.

4 years building a new world for us to explore - can't wait.

Hope it's a true "next gen" open world as Beth describes it.

Trailer doesnt garner much hope.

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of making a game world look good and the trailer shows several spots where the lighting is good. The lighting is much better than Fallout 3 or even Skyrim. Also, the textures don't look that bad, and with modding they will be even better.

Also, the trailer shows there will be a dynamic weather cycle happening in the game.

Also have a birthday in October...not complaining, just highly skeptical.

And yeah, the lighting is good...the textures just look like they need a lot of work, and some more tessellation or something overall...everything just looks kind of flat. I guess we will probably get more high-res packs, whether from Bethesda directly or modders.

The older Fallout games are for sale on steam. I just got Fallout 3 based on the positive feedback here.

Awesome! With a bit of modding work you can get Fallout 3 to look like these examples:

dx12 support?

Would be reason enough for me to upgrade to Win 10 if this is the case.

I don't think they can ready dx12 support that soon if the game is to be released this year, but lets see what they say at E3.

Just preordered on GMG for $46.20 with code 23PERC-ENTOFF-48HOUR. No brainer for a new Fallout.

Will it be buggy at launch? Probably. Do I care? No. Wasteland wandering, baby. I don't think its even really sunk in yet for me that Fallout 4 is officially a thing.

Is this game the second coming? Seriously, I don't remember Fallout being this popular. I feel as if there is someone standing next to me screaming in my ear every two seconds to pre-order. It's borderline ridiculous.

dx12 support?

Highly doubtful considering how long Fallout 4 has been in development, and kind of irrelevant anyway because BGS has never really been about bleeding edge engine & graphics, and I doubt they'd devote resources to a new DX version that only a limited subset of Windows PC's will be running when the game launches. DX11 is the safer bet to reach the bigger buying base.

Just about. ;)

Seriously, I don't remember Fallout being this popular.

Been under a rock? :D

I thought I remember you rolling with some of us in those Fallout 3 and Vegas threads here a couple of years back and with the occasional necro bumps when one or several of us got that itch to revisit an old friend to mess around with some new mod. ;)

It's a bit early I agree. We have tons of time for that. :)

I think coop would be a great feature to add into this game tbh. I always wanted oblivion and skyrim to have coop, gotta start somewhere.

Been thinking the same since forever. A Fallout or Elder Scrolls installment with Borderlands' drop-in co-op system would be a death sentence for free time. But I have my doubts about BGS being able to pull that off. It seems that spending 3-4 years developing a killer singleplayer free roamer is the limit to their output.

I highly recommend stepping through Gopher's guides when it comes to modding FO3/FONV. Followed them and it turned out perfectly. It'll take some time working through each one, but will be worth it.

Thanks a lot. I downloaded a few from Nexus already. I do need to still do the expanded memory mod... especially since I downloaded huge textures. I guess I'll start with his stability video. :)
