Dishonored

I wish they'd do like Bethesda did with Skyim and put out a nice high res texture pack for this.

The game has a lot going for it but that would really put the visuals over the top.

I like the painted textures. I guess they could be a higher resolution but I don't really think it'd make an enormous difference given the art style.

Recently beat the game, and I have to admit the ending on low chaos was pretty damn good. I really love the ending song too.

Just started playing this...pretty legit game. I do wish the textures were better as a lot of the environment ones are pretty darn bad. I assume it has something to do with the art style of the game, but they could at least look sharper.

Yeah. When I started it up I almost just wanted to shut it back down because the graphics are really disgusting(as in atrocious). But the game itself is actually really fun, not sure why they decided to go with such shitty graphics :/

Just beat it earlier today. It's damn good. I wish it was more open world and more powers. It's a bit limited.

i beat it today also. I was going for a no-kill but some people died, must have been when I tossed their unconscious bodies. oh well... :)

Agreed...not to mention most of the powers are useless if you want to do a stealth run.

So I am a bit late to the party here. But I just beat the game (low chaos, stealth style, good ending) and I am thinking of running through it again blasting everything away, but I am wondering if their is a downside to this? Liek I said I already beat the game using stealth and maybe I killed 2-4 people the entire game, but someone mentioned the game gets much harder the more people you kill? Also i plan on re-playing it at the highest difficulty level. Any thoughts?

Also this or FC3 have to be game of the year, such a good Q4 for gamers.

fuck that. The art style is amazing. You don't need high res texture to make a game look great.

High res texture wouldn't change the art.

There are parts of the game that are extremely low resolution and can be a bit jarring.

Like in the first area you start in, when the girl asks you to play hide and seek. You "hide" behind that tree nearby. The textures on it are so low res it literally reminded me of those old mid 90's era games, playing in software mode if you didn't have a real 3d card.

Admittedy, some of the textures could be better.
Thing is, I don't think it detracts from the overall experience.
I think I'm only on the second mission and I already know I WILL replay this game.
(not that my opinion means jack, but this is about the only game I've played that I want to go through again.)
I've played Thief (years ago), and this being a 'stealth' type game I wasn't sure if I would like it.
I do.
I don't know, it just seems different, maybe more balanced between combat & stealth, plus the story, to me seems to be alive.
Also I can't get the haunting 'Drunken Whaler' out of my head! (currently looping on WMP)
Alright, this is my drunken post per month out of the way.
Peace.
Out.

LOL.

You were at Bingo weren't you...don't lie now.

Just extract the files in to the root directory? Doesn't seem to be working for me.

EDIT:

Figured it out. It looks great, I just had to turn my brightness up a bit because the dark areas were really dark after setting up the injector.

Thanks!

just got Dishonored anyone complaining about the graphics MUST do this:

Get SweetFX: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html

copy/paste these settings into your SweetFX_settings.txt: http://whoisjimothy.com/public/dishonored/sweetfx_dishonored_01.txt

It's like playing a different game .. it looks 10000000000000000 times better.

I'm usually not a fan of these injectors due to the insane amount of saturation that's sometimes applied but this makes the game look way better. Thanks for sharing!

Any mods to make the eyes skill/spell not have that horrible filter? And does it work for batman? Cuz I stopped playing batman cuz of that.

I might get a man crush on you for this. :p

I posted a couple screens of the SweetFX injector in the super high res screenshot thread, though I didn't think to link to the page that had it. I bumped the brightness back up a few notches though because darker areas were incredibly dark, and I hated having to run around with the vision spell activated all the time.

I'll have to tweak some settings myself but I'm happy to have some options. :) Just copy and paste everything wherever the game's main exe is and that's it, right?

Basically, but if you want to use the same settings you'll also need to copy over the game's .ini files too.

Whoah, wait a minute, what do you mean? I want to make sure I don't screw something up here.

So far, what I did is I downloaded the file. I copied and pasted that stuff into where Dishonored's .exe is. I then hit that second link that guy put up with suggested Dishonored settings, copied and pasted that into the correct .txt file, saved those changes, and that was it.

Did I miss a step?

As long as you meant the DishonoredEngine.ini that's it.

As long as you meant the DishonoredEngine.ini that's it.

Then I must have screwed it up.

Copied and pasted everything from this file http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html

into Steam\steamapps\common\Dishonored\Binaries\Win32 and in that folder is Dishonored.exe. The instructions you put everything where that .exe is.

I then copied and pasted all this http://whoisjimothy.com/public/dishonored/sweetfx_dishonored_01.txt

into SweetFX_settings.txt and saved the changes.

So where'd I screw up?

You didn't screw up, but he also posted his DishonoredEngine.ini settings which, AFAIK is just an optional step. It's probably not necessary, because I think the only thing in there that's different is probably the brightness/gamma settings. Which I ended up bumping up a bit anyway because it was way too dark in dark places.

12 hours in and I just finished the Pendleton mission. I don't necessarily care about being detected but I've been scavenging the city trying to find each bone charm, rune, and objects of value without killing a soul.

I tried for that achievement but I failed somewhere along the way. I think it has to do with throwing bodies. You can't toss them down inclines or stairs, apparently they are fragile. who knew :)

If you see any amount of blood splatter, it means they're pretty much dead, iirc.

This game was great for one playthrough. That's it for me...

People are actually going through this multiple times...?

There's two endings.

Cool.

There's two endings.

I have two nipples. You don't see me bragging about those though. That came out wrong.

Meh, I just don't want to play it twice. I googled the other ending.

LOL random BiH115 nip sighting! News at 11!

I finished the Pendleton mission and am going for the non-lethal, non-spotted ending / achievements. I actually replayed the first mission all the way through again because I also ended up killing someone, probably when I dropped a body.

I may keep a savegame so I can go back through and have some fun with the combat & killing skills so I at least don't have to start over completely.
