Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Level 27 or something right now and I've noticed I've been finding more rare drops from random enemies...but they all basically suck. I snagged a wand from the AH for 15,000 with like +900 health and I think 50+ intelligence(wizard), I went from about 100DPS to 240DPS

Also got some crazy off-hand item with I think 90 or so intelligence and something else for less than 1500, while others that were similar were going for 50k+

Hey I read through the last few pages of this ongoing thread and I gotta say... there's some really valid opinions here. But the fact of the matter? Blizzard isn't going to get rid of the AH or RMAH any time soon, albeit, ever.

That said, I'm looking forward to PvP. Hopefully Blizz doesn't mess that up.

Hopefully they release it before the year's out. I suppose it's only been a couple months, but it feels like they have a 1-man team working on this. Could they be any slower to release patches?

Those look like pretty solid stats to me for belial.

Thanks. Hope it works out!

EDIT: Ya, it was pretty much a face tank as long as you don't stand in poison bombs. I got mixed advice from barbs that I've played with regarding necessary stats, hence the hesitation.

With the AH/RMAH I really don't see how PvP could be anything other than Pay 2 Win...

Because it's only a short-lived pay to win, but you're right... you will fight people who just purchased gear and are still in your tier (because they haven't stomped yet)... so you get stomped :(

I still have my fingers crossed for twinking!

Because regardless of skill or gear the behind the scenes rating system will gravitate you towards people whom would generally give you an even match more often than not over time. Except for the extreme best or extreme worst players, the algorithm will work to keep most people very close to 1 to 1 win loss ratio

Or it could be they eliminate gear from the equation...

I don't see how that's possible, since without gear all characters of the same class and level are exactly the same, or have the potential to be exactly the same (depending on the skills you choose).

Maybe they would say that is a balancing trait.

This would actually bring out the actual player skill and be IMHO a good solution. If all barbarians will have the same stats then it comes down to which in-game skills a player chooses and what tactic (s)he implements to make those skills shine.

Taking gear out of the equation would make it a much better representation of actual human skill vs farming/wallet skills.

Or whoever has the better connection and gets the first hit in and has 1 HP more than the other...

Will never happen because Blizzard has already stated that the game isn't a MMO so don't expect new content patches like a MMO. Well something like that. :) And since Blizzard is making money off the RMAH in the form of direct item sells and gold sales there isn't a chance they will mess that up by trying to balance the game in that manner. If I'm not mistaken when the game launched they said that pvp wasn't designed to be balanced.

But what if your build relies on crit, or cc procs, or resource regen, or life steal? No gear would kill a lot of builds.

pvp is going to be insane on this game.

every class is going to require a movement speed skill so that Wizards don't Hydra, Telaport, Dimond skin, Frost nova, wave of force, Blizzard everyone to death.

Monk has that handy teleport attack that should work well for wizard :)

Because unlike buying virtual items or any other kind of entertainment expense Kickstarter projects only deliver the potential of a future benefit. In the real of intangible there's nothing lower than spending money on something that has a very good chance of never coming to be.

It's just like my sig says, Kickstarter projects pander to your emotions and nostalgia and generally being fed up with commercial games to extract money from you. It's as close to a scam and you can get without to get into legal trouble because there is no obligation to ever deliver a finished product.

By giving money to a Kickstarter project you are paying for someone else to pursue their hobby full time.

EDIT: inserted "of a"
FWIW, I backed the DoubleFine Kickstarter project and so far, so good. They have already started mailing t-shirts/posters to the backers, and the video crew has given us three 20 minute episodes of "Behind the Scenes", and additional four 10 minute videos with random interviews and stuff. Things are happening.

I completed Hell awhile ago and am still in act 1 of inferno. Why am I still in act 1? Because it has become boring playing the same thing over and over and I can't force myself to play much anymore.

I'll probably hop back into PoE until TL2 comes out.

Lol, DPS jumped from 250 to 750 within like 2 levels...but my health went down by about 1000...damn it I hate weapons that have good vital stats but then only decent intelligent/damage.

By the way, when do legendarys start to drop? Diablo dropped the most useless garbage I have seen in the entire game so far. I think he dropped a double handed ax(for barbarian I think) with intelligence

Legendary items can drop in any difficulty as far as I know. I got a legendary in normal while getting the items for the staff of herding. Lvl 18 to use and very low dps legendary wep but still a legendary.

So I found this post on Reddit about gearing and I don't get it.

What to search for:

Helm: Helm of Command - 80 Vit - Socket (250k or less.) The 8% Block chance is a huge boost in survivability. A similar rare helm with 40 All Resists is approximately the same price.

I don't do Reddit so I can't ask there but WTH, where are those prices coming from? A Helm of Command for 250k is unheard of afaik. The post is only a week old so it can't be totally outdated in terms of pricing.

I got 1 legendary for Barbarians in Act II Inferno. That was my only one in 270 hours of play.

holy

i'm near your hours played

not trying to brag or anything, but just to put it in perspective...i just broke 30 legendary drops with ~260 hours played

today i had a Skycutter drop and then, within 20 minutes, have a Legendary Set Wizard Source OH drop as well (i haven't identified it yet)

are you running MF on your gear?

Actually its not. Just go search the AH. There are tons of Helm of Command for those prices, but they will be crap. People have those plans and craft the shit out of them and just throw them all on the AH. Don't expect good stats for that price though unless you just find a good one. Just like you quoted, it doesn't have any main stats, just vit, no crit chance, so pretty much garbage. You could get a rare that would beat that easily.

No one has the plan in HC.. even with all the bugs :(

Not necessarily true. Every once in awhile, if you scour the AH, you can find an extremely underpriced HoC.

Also, even if it has bad stats, most likely it's much better than anything I currently have. Not saying there aren't things out there that are better, just that that's how bad my gear is.

inferno is such a joke.
its like a monon said I know how to make it fun lets see, reflect, teleport, invulnerable. ETC on all the mobs that will make it fun.
DUH mom can I have ice cream I did good.
They should get rid of that Jay retard and get some of the devs that know how to make diablo back.
This should be called Activision 3 NOT Diablo 3

Thats why I said "unless you just find a good one." This kind of stuff goes without saying. You always assess things based on the majority, the averages. You can always say that about good deals. Thats why they are good deals and those will apply to pretty much everything, but its not the average.

Yea, it's actually viable in end game PvE, too.

Not just viable, it's the best standard attack a monk has (I guess it could be argued that Deadly Reach with Keen Eye for the 50% armor bonus and range could be the best, but it's a shitty attack otherwise). It's the highest DPS, the fastest spirit generator, the last attack in the cycle is a small AOE with a slight knockback that lets you stunlock a lot of enemies if you have a fast attack speed, and it procs life on hit the most. All that and it's available at level 6.

You sound like my brother. with NV i am running about 150 mf, and I have had 1 legendary in act 1 inferno drop. My brother has about 10 with less time played in inferno, about the same mf stats.

Very frusterating, i only have 3m because I can't get a decent drop to save my soul, all my gear are drops my brother passes to me after he takes items for his dh. my dh is only 35k health, 16k dps, and 250 ar with like 60 mf unbuffed.

Actually, last night I was searching to buy a HoC so I bought one for 350k (~80 Dex/Vit, 44 phy resist (needed to raise my resists and I stack phys resist on my monk) and some other things).

There were plenty of HoC for 250k and some had the socket/vit for this price. I even saw one with double rez (all resist + phys resist), dex/vit for 500k. Just keep looking, lots of them for sale ;)

Yeah I get it now, I looked through 46 pages of HoC with vit+socket and I am not convinced that it's the right thing to do to buy a cheap one.

My current helm is:
341 Armor
111 STR
66 VIT
19 Resist All
16% MF

Doubling the armor, raising VIT slightly, raising Resist some, and adding 8% block will cost me at least 1k dps (by removing STR) and it will cost me the 16% MF. But maybe the 8% block is worth it. Just don't know.
