Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Does anyone else wish they had a randomized dungeon in each act? Sort of like the infinite dungeon you could farm in Torchlight after the main quest. I don't mind farming for loot but running the same quests might be old after a while. Just make random levels with a randomized boss every 10 floors or so?

Heres some stats from my latest item farming run. Interesting to see the drop breakdown.

A1 inferno, starting at "northwest gate" after haedrigs wife, going to Butcher
13GF, 173MF (88/248 with 5 stacks)
210k gold earned from coin and quest rewards, after 16739g in repairs (0 deaths)

39 champion packs and bosses killed (counting basically anything that drops rares, including Jondar)
3 treasure goblins
159 blues

Rares by item level:
51: 1
52: 7
53: 3
54: 0
55: 8
56: 3
57: 2
58: 9
59: 6
60: 21
61: 14
62: 7
63: 0 (these dropped in blue, just got unlucky, 2% drop rate)

Rares kept for resale: 2

Mats: 162 wishful essence, 77 exquisite essence, 79 hoofs, 25 tears, 44 tomes

Legendary and set drops: 2. Immortal King's Will and Tormentor staff, both ilvl 61

So I sold a wizard offhand and a WD offhand for $250 each. Within minutes of posting them. I did not think I would get anything for them because my impression was that the only market for RMAH is nubs with cash looking for the biggest deeps weapons. So I don't know who bought these, but I won't argue.

I have 10 lvl 62 rares with 6 attributes each up on the rmah with opening bid of $3 and buyout of $250. 6 hours in 1 of them has a $3 bid! lol

Aix - what were the major specs on the things you had that sold so quickly for such a high price?

I dont suppose you have screenshots of the items? or Know their stats? I am curious what is selling for $250.....

Everything I list, even at the $3-5 price tags, sits there forever.

Thats amazing man. Nice work. Someone is stupid. Those arnt even all that great.

I just found a WD offhand with similar stats. You think this might go for the same? Ill try and list this and see what happens.

It's very hard to find a Wizard Source with that kind of damage, 100+ intel and crit. And his WD offhand is godly. I'm not surprised they went for $250.

Consider the price of gold when you evaluate where to put up a really good item. Currently it's averaging at $5, so if you could sell something for more than ~55 million in the Gold AH, then you probably should, because you will always make more than the RMAH. Of course Gold can depreciate over time, but it's really not that hard at all to sell it rather quickly (you can even use the Blizz forums).

Yeah this is pretty much it. There are people out there buying 10+ digital copies and using them exclusively for botting.

It seems to be working. I was getting about 5 gold farmer friend invites per day and rarely get one a day now.

I've considered that I might be selling myself short only getting 250 for the WD piece, but I haven't explored other avenues to sell things and I wasn't sure about the logistics of getting into paypal situations with strangers on bnet forums. If I found a godly weapon though I'm sure I'd have to give this a lot more consideration.

@Retsam, your offhand's damage is quite a bit lower, but it's still very good with that +% life, so I'd give it a shot. Don't forget to throw in a star topaz into that socket!

Wish my Demon Hunter stayed alive long enough to do that. I would have found 210k in gold and 220k in repairs lol.

Dude it's Act 1. You shouldn't be dying as any class.
Come on now, there are definitely some affix combos that are more rough than others. That said, I didn't have any trouble clearing act 1. Made a few gear piece changes and I am up to 22k dps now, still maintaining 30000hp and ~420 resist all.

Two big drops for me today in A3/A4. Blackthorne's Scabbard (sp?) for a quick 4m. A 720 dps short sword with 290 vit, 210 int, and a socket in which I promptly placed a 80% crit dmg gem in and equipped. Much better than the crap I got yesterday.

Got my buddies through Diablo, so was pretty happy about that. It took us four tries to get her down, but no more 5-stack by then.

Nothing like a good loot drop day that makes you look forward to your next run. :)

My ping is about 105-120ms yet i lag like crazy, this all started after patch 1.03, sigh... i wish i could get a refund at this point but im past the 30 days, Also even when i can tolerate the lag drops on normal just suck lately ive been mostly getting + vitality gear and nothing with + str.

How long did this run take you?

Didn't keep track, I was doing it solo and tracking everything and taking breaks, etc. At least you can pause when solo.

And the set helm from that run has already sold for $4, $2.55 gained. It was crappy but hey I'll take it. Otherwise it would have sold for like 200k.

I later did a second run trying to max out movement speed and magic find at the expense of survivability. Even used Fleet Footed (monk passive) for another 10% move. I died twice that run but it was pretty damn fast. I will probably continue doing that with a compromise of speed vs survival.

Awesome, was soloing last night, just killed a mob with some good loot and the server disconnected me...perfect timing Blizzard.

Just did my first NV run. Started, conveniently, where you start breaking the catapults etc, through the boss at the end of that part of Act III. Once you stack 5, HOLY CRAP does the gear and gold start rolling in...
Unles you are a retard and switch a ability just before the seigebreaker guy.

I know the pain of that. My first legendary drop back on normal/nightmare, connection burped, disco'd, logged back in, was set back enough that I lost the item. Wasn't a happy camper.

repairs cost more than what I make in inferno.. pretty lame.

This

There was nothing wrong with inferno repair costs prior to this patch. My classes main damage skill has been broken and they don't plan to fix it until the next patch. I have entirely stopped playing my WD and have switched to Barb.

I always turn off Elective mode to prevent this.......Because I kite and click my skill bar by mistake all day long.

My inferno repair costs are 8% of the gold I pick up off the floor, not even counting selling mats which doubles that gold as soon as I get to the AH.

Exactly how often are you dieing to make things so inefficient?

How frequently are you dying? I repaired a few times at around 11k per repair in Inferno A1 yesterday and still made over 100k gold not including selling any drops.

often; depends on the affixes.

you should really try dying less.. my repair costs in hardcore are next to nothing

great advice

my repair bill is 20k.. and I am in act2 inferno so death occurs a lot. I can probably go through all of act 1 without dying

Been levelling my DH some more in an effort to play him in Inferno. Got him to 42 last night. Hoping to hit 55-60 by weekend-end. I try to avoid the AH at all costs, in terms of buying, and had a major gear check on Belial, would get one shot by any sort of Belial attack and wiped 5 or so times before I caved in and got some gear off the AH. First try after AH I downed him. I definitely needed new gear though, I was using level 20-30 gear on my level 41 DH. I'm suspecting I'll find gear checks like that on Azmodan (maybe siegebreaker?) and the Silver Spire run to Diablo.

Stop running A2 then. If you are dying that frequently, you probably don't have the gear to progress.

You can get ilvl 63 gear running Act 1, so there really isn't any reason to slam your head against a wall repeatedly unless you are just trying to finish the game on Inferno.

Pretty lame that it works that way huh? this is my biggest gripe really is that you cant succeed without the AH. I mean their intention was to make it difficult they internally tested with only items they found; which probably took them 1000x longer. but we have the ah and can just buy items are make the game trivial

Azmodan mostly just sits there and takes damage.

Inferno Act II or Act 1

iLvl 61 19% iLvl 61 18%
iLvl 62 12% iLvl 62 8%
iLvl 63 4% iLvl 63 2%

those percentages go a long way. just saying the punishment is way too severe. 20k for a repair bill?

The thing is that before if you died it didn't matter. Now it does so I like that aspect of the game being utilized although 13k a death is excessive. But since the game is dependent on a perfect connection to the servers, otherwise you can and will get rubberbanded into a death situation, the player base should put pressure on Blizzard to fix their server infrastructure. I died on the Skeleton King when I got lagged back into 4 or 5 packs of adds and the boss when I had clearly left the area. Those elites that move faster than you even though you have 12% run speed, can't be slowed, reflect damage, drop arcane sentry, and wall are frustrating to fight at times when you're lagged back into them.

Dying twice in 3 hours plus the regular gear degeneration means you're losing money. And lag can make you die much more often.

I cant believe how badly they have failed in terms of server stability. I am with you. I had 30-50ms the entire time I was playing last night; I was still rubberbanding.. it would happen when it was a frozen pack of rares too.. so I got teleported backwards and frozen to my death :(

Sure they do, but you've already admitted you can't afford the price of admission. Until you're geared a little better, you're clearly going to be better off sticking to A1.

Lag > Knowledge of the fight. Always. When you die repeatedly to lag there isn't a thing you can do but:

1) Keep playing even though you're frustrated from dying to 400ms - 2,000ms spikes.

2) Cut the game off and play something else with better latency like my 27ms in BF3.

I like the fact that death means something now. I don't like everything in the world running in place for 5 seconds then suddenly the game says, "You died. Click here to resurrect and give me 13k gold."
