Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Thx for the tips and please keep them coming lol.

Gold? It sure as hell isn't in act 1 inferno. The repair bill is crazy.

AoE all of Act 3 Hell with some gold find gear. Very small chance of death, decent amount of gold per hour.

This is not directed at you; more at Blizzard.

The AH is not my cup of tea. It is too constricting with limited search capabilities and looking at makes me think that it was designed for a retard to use. I want gear with 5 attributes; why can't I search for it? After I have scanned page after page for 10 minutes and found the one I want, the buy button doesn't work as someone else bought it. What happened to real time updates? Who coded this shit? Am I supposed to glance at something that looks like it's the best and buy it for shits n giggles then continue searching for better stuff to make sure I get an upgrade? Why isn't there a compare items button where you can tag say 5 items for comparison shopping?

Ok say it was designed for the elderly or mentally disabled to be able to use. Why isn't there an advanced search function? Call it "elective mode" for the AH. They've been rolling ideas around for 10 years and this is the best that they thought of? Yesterday I bid on an legendary item and I was outbid on it. So how do you find the item that you previously bid on? There were 10 pages of the same item with different attributes and the hell if I want to look through them again to find it. If I missed the advanced tab I apologize, but the default search is pure crap.

Not directing anger at you, but it seems like it is as usable as a Fisher Price wind up toy to me.

There's enough server issues without sending real time updates for the AH...

And the items you bid on are in one of the tabs under your current auctions. It's very easy to have a bidding war since it lists everything you bid on and whether or not you've been outbid.

Too bad this feature doesn't always work. What it needs is a refresh button, because I've noticed that when the auction gets down to about an hour left, it doesn't update the bids, and you have to blindly bid on the item. Happened to me twice already.

I gotta know. Are you guys paying x,000,000g+ for your gear on the AH? I seriously crap my pants everytime I look in the AH; there's gotta be some people buying this gear for this much if sellers keep posting for so high.

As you upgrade to handle Inferno, the law of diminishing returns definitely applies. If you are breezing through most of Inferno, chances are that most of your items will need a 1 million gold + replacement to actually be an upgrade. Before 1.03, my only big ticket item off the AH was a 5 million gold 1045 dps wand. Everything else cost less than a million or I was simply lucky enough to find it. This was good for 60k dps with my glass cannon setup. The patch brought me down to 43k dps and I burned all my gold trying to get that number back up to 60k dps. Since stacking IAS is no longer a viable way to get your dps numbers to skyrocket, you can do so now with crit % and crit dmg+ % now. It's just simply MUCH more expensive to do so.

I never thought spending gold on 1 million plus items that was not a weapon would not be worth it. That is, until they did with IAS viability and I was left with only one other % stacking option.

Agreed since they can't exactly get the latency right now and I see where the bids are now. :)

Thx!

I'm not 100% on how it works when it gets down to the wire since I've never done it myself. I do know someone that religiously does bidding wars since he gets the best deals that way (wakes up at 3 am, goes home during work, etc. to bid). So he must have some sort of system /strategy...

I paid 1.2 million for a shield (1608 armor, 21% block, 150 dex, 80 vit, 15% bleeding 900-1500dmg... plus some other stuff), but everything else was under 300k. I did sell my old shield for 900k, and a couple rings for 800k-1.5million, so i'm still ahead.

If you do a new search for the item, it will show the current bid in the search window, but because you can't sort the search window by "time left" it can be a bit tricky at times. Again, the "current auctions" windows is usually reliable, but it doesn't work 100% of the time.

My most expensive item was a 13.5 million xbow which is now worth less than 4 mil due to the IAS nerf. Some of my pieces are cheap as hell while others are quite expensive.

I spent 1.25 mill on an item on like... day 3 or 4 after release. It was a 872 DPS bow. I killed Inferno Diablo with it, so it was a nice buy at the time. It's worth maybe 25k or less now.

I believe the 80/20 rule can be applied to gear... 80% of the effectiveness for 20% of the cost (probably not precise but you get the idea).

PS.... this gave me a good laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kwmJ_FepQs

Yay, finally beat Diablo on Nightmare. Onward to Hell now.

Put up a few items on the AH for $2 each for my B.net account balance, just some random level 50-ish rares with proper stat allocations for their respective classes. Gonna see if I can make $15 for a month of WoW time :p

I'm 59 now, once I hit 60 I'm done with this game. So repetitive and boring and lame. I think 95% of people are disappointed with this game.

I think 79% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Nah that one was made up a few days ago, just decided to post it now.

How many times have you played through the content of D3 now Ace? 15? Seems non-repetitive to me.

How are you guys mkaing that much money on the AH? Yelllows? Or something else?

My problem is that I put all the yellows I find up on the AH, but with the 10 limit and 1-day turn around I get more then what I can put on there and if no one uses the buyout (I generally put the buyout lower then the avg, but it doesn't always sell that way).

I spent a shitton of money (For my lv range, 39atm) on Blacksmithing/jewelcrafting, I have both of them to the point I need SEcret tomes to advance training.

Yellows just don't seem to bring in that much money and selling items to the merchants isn't helping much either.

Most gold I've ever had at once was like 202k. Between the buying gear on AH I need and repairs + training I'm a bit strapped for gold now, only have like 30k now and have to wait on auctions. I have like 15 more yellows in my stash that I need to sell but it just isnt moving that fast.

Anyone have any good tips for making gold at my lv range? (39). STill in nightmare, on act 2.

Don't worry about being gold starved at level 39 that much. Having 202k at one time was a good amount for the level.

Sure? Diablo is all about farming the same content for loot. If you weren't interested in that or Inferno then I don't know why you played beyond Normal.

Don't worry about making gold until you get to Inferno. Most low-level stuff doesn't really sell for more than 10k.

I undercut big time. 20% or so. And then even on 500k+ buyout items I set the bid as '9900' (that's kinda my number that I just decided to choose to help identify my items at a glance, so if you see those 9900 bids, they are probably mine). This extremely low bid will ensure that the item sells even if for some reason it doesn't get bought out, but they usually do within 10-20 minutes. The ending bid usually gets to around where the other items are anyway, so it's not a bad idea.

Basically, I just try to get my items sold ASAP to ensure a sale.

Your first mistake is putting "all the yellow items you find" on AH. This game has reached a satuaration point of low/middle range gear. Its tough to sell stuff for profit now unless its a good item. Theres so much decent/mid range gear in the super uber cheap category, listing everything you find ensures you are wasting your AH slots with crap that wont get purchased.

You should try and save AH slots for stuff that can yield a profit. If you truely are listing all yellows you find on AH, its no wonder you cant make any money. 90% of the rares I find on a daily basis arnt worth more than 5-20k gold.

So what the hell should I be selling on the AH Then? If not the yellows I find I don't kno what to do to make money then.

Sort through them. Nobody is going to buy a wizard hat with +str +dex on it. If you're not sure about something, search the three key attributes on the item with similar ilvl, and see what's the average selling price for similar item. You'll quickly realize, that a lot of the items are just not worth dealing with.

Well I'm pretty excited. Found a set ring earlier today and just sold it for $100. It didn't even have that great of stats.

Just wanted to post a reminder that even blue weapons are worth something... So just because you get a blue weapon doesn't mean it's vendor trash. For example, keep any blue 1-handed 850+ dps.

Welcome to the club man. :D

The biggest sale I (just) made was a rare ring for 20 bucks. The only notable attributes it had were 4% crit chance and 24% crit damage. I heard crit was the new fotm, so I price matched it with other rings and undercut by some dollars. I was surprised it sold since it wasn't even a dps boost over my own average rings.

Dumped all my IAS gear and built my crit to 29.5% and crit damage to 100% and that put my wizard's dps back to 30K since the patch. Mowing down those mobs again. Also increased my all-resist to 400 during the latest gear reshuffle as I went back to the drawing board. I need a way better weapon but been farming Act I and III Inferno content for several days now and absolutely nothing has dropped. I mean anything that's either an upgrade or worth selling on the AH, even level 63 items are all crap. Currently farming gold up to the 10 million or so I need for a 1H which is better than what I already have (830 dps 60 int/90vit but no socket) which I picked up the first week for 200K before prices went Scrooge McDuck crazy.

Someone should take over this [H]Gaming thread with the Battletags for D3. I find the game much more enjoyable in a group that is constantly moving and progressing even if farming the same areas. I was running Act 3 Hell with some level 52 - 59's and my magic find was giving them so many drops they sounded like they were going to fall out of their chairs with the rare loot. So give it a try and remember to state you're from [H] when sending out requests so they know it's not a gold spammer.

This game was released too early. With more time in development, and to change game according to feedback it would have been much better.

Game had enough development time for two AAA-titles and previous model which to follow for certain success. ;)

What would they put in the expansion pack?

I think a lot of stuff that they wanted to do didn't make it into the final product for a reason.

I found a quiver earlier today with dex / vit / gf / mf / ias and a socket. This might be the first item I flip for more than 1mil gold. Most comparable items were going for a ton, I listed it for 2.5 mil. Crossing my fingers.

Depending on what happens to the Nat set, there may be alot of angry customers once again haha.
I wonder if it simply goes back down to 0.42disc/s or an average of the two numbers.

@Rizen - I imagine if it had rolled the max crit chance % for a quiver, it would sell for even more :p
